Las Vegas city council voted to make sleeping on sidewalks a crime. Bunch of fucking assholes if you ask me. And yes, this is the appropriate subsection.

I am a big supporter of homeless causes. I donate annually to 2 different homeless organizations in Las Vegas and up until 2 years ago, I donated one morning each week doing Laundry at a youth homeless center. So I am sympathetic to the homeless. But the homeless situation in Las Vegas is WAY out of control, as I am sure it is in most other major cities. Places in California and Arizona have been caught shipping homeless people to Vegas with a one way ticket. Like I said, it's just out of control.
Las Vegas is about tourism and you just can't have the homeless epidemic that is the current situation, in the downtown and strip (and just off strip) tourist areas. Tourists literally have to step over homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk. Have you been to Main Street along side Golden Gate, across the street from The Plaza? Absolutely disgusting. It will drive tourism down if it hasn't already. And that is the bread and butter of the Vegas economy. You just can't allow that.
In addition to the casino tourist area, homeless is now rampant in all areas of metropolitan Las Vegas Valley, including the nicer areas of Summerlin and Henderson. I watched last months city council meeting on TV, and there were numerous business owners that showed videos of what they have to clean up every morning just to open their business. That isn't fair to these folks who sink their hard earned money into their businesses.
So something had to be done. Obviously these people won't have the money to pay fines, so they will be locked up for 6 months. How is the county going to afford that? I also don't know that criminalizing homelessness is the answer. But I honestly don't know what the answer is. Something had to be done.
Send them to the U.P. They won't be homeless for long. They will either get off the streets or die. You won't find any homeless on the streets in the U.P.
The city parks in Tucson are filling up with the homeless as we speak. It's a migration that occurs every year about this time. The mountain state homeless head south for the warmer winter weather and Tucson/Phoenix are the favorite stops. The hot weather in the spring runs them back north so the city parks will empty out then.

Maybe clean them up and get them jobs instead of throwing them in jail just because they are homeless.... I saw an episode of Mama's Family where Mama ended up in jail (Mama had been at a Rally for a Family Member, but unfortunately, the Police were arresting homeless people and they thought she was homeless too) with her Cousin who had become homeless... Mama was shocked to see her Cousin who used to own a successful business and have a big beautiful house with her Husband end up a Homeless Prisoner. Her Cousin explained that her Husband got injured and couldn't work anymore or something like that , so their once successful business and their big beautiful house went poof just like that. She ended up in jail for being homeless IIRC. Mama went from thinking homeless people only had themselves to blame and not feeling compassion for them to seeing the light when she realized her once successful Cousin was now a Homeless Prisoner because of what happened to her Husband... She also feels sorry when she sees a little girl in jail just for being homeless(I remember posting on another website something like"This little girl is like 9. I find it unrealistic that she'd be sitting in a jail cell for being homeless when she should have been put in Foster Care or something like that".. The little girl's mother said she felt her little girl was better off in jail than the streets.... Hmm...Mama gets to know the Homeless personally amd gets a lot of compassion for them....

Tucson is this state's most liberal city. The homeless migrate there before Phoenix because they're treated better there. It doesn't seem to be a huge problem around here like in looney-toon California, but most of the ones I've seen are drug addicts and/or alcoholics. That right there suggest mental issues.
I'm like Nancy Pelosi on this subject--I pretend it isn't occurring because it doesn't affect me. It's not an easy problem to solve. Lots of these people became homeless on Obama's watch, due to his ignorance, arrogance, and motivating people not to work because of how no one needs to worry since "the Federal Government will take care of you all".

Not only Vegas, but elsewhere, as well, they are also trying to criminalize giving homeless people food. Just a passive-aggressive way of eliminating certain people without appearing to be doing so.
Dan,
Please remove Tasha from the informational thread that was started, for hijacking in post 5 and making ridiculous posts.
I thought this forum if you created a thread and someone is disrupting it you can just have the admin block them from the thread. I start an informational thread, someone disrupts it with a ridiculous nonsensical rambling story post, then tells me fuck you when I tell them not to. Seems justified.
