Finally a thread at WoV that I find interesting. Although I personally grew tired of the hotel thing real quickly back in AC when I would spend 2-3 nights a week, I find this concept pretty interesting for those that don't mind hotel living. Probably appeals more to a younger single guy, 20's - 30's. I get confused as to which one of the WoVers Tommy G is. (I used to have a bar friend Tommy G back in Philly which is why I have trouble remembering who the WoV Tommy G is).

I hope this thread doesn't get ruined (as almost everything at WoV does now) and we can follow along on this adventure.

As for Tommy G's weekend dilemma, I think there are lower end non strip, non downtown casino hotel rooms as well as non casino hotel rooms available at reasonable prices if he just needs a place to sleep for one or two of the weekend nights, so he doesn't have to stay up for 24-48 hours. Kind of a slumming it thing from what he can likely get during the week comped. I am talking places like Longhorn on Boulder, Skyline on Boulder, Lucky Club in North Vegas. There is also no casino places like Americas best at Trop and Koval. Further out, places like the Lake mead Motel at the corner of Lake mead and Water street Henderson. I think these places are like $29.

I am also quite sure a number of Vegas regulars would be willing to use comps for a weekend room each month. Even a non WoVer like me would be willing to help him out with that...not every week, but once a month or so.

So Good luck Tommy G on your adventure. Looking forward to following.

Not sure why a WoV thread is discussed here, but hotel room comps are easier to obtain than two-fers buffets. If someone who gambles regularly has to look for cheap dive hotel rooms in order to get some sleep, that person is one helluva loser and has no clue at all in how to utilize it manipulate the casino comp system.

I only live 35 minutes away and never felt the need to stay. I am thinking of treating my wife, however. Just curious-do they refund the deposit on my card to the bank electronically? They say free stay, but isn't there a deposit?

The Deposit is mist likely for the Resort Fee if they have one and Taxes.

I was told by some players it was a room deposit which was refunded if room check went well, ie, no damages.

Sling, they refund the deposit electronically back to your account. This is as after, as you said, the room checked out okay. The deposit and resort fees are two separate things. BTW, most hotels will refund the deposit within a few business days others take a few weeks.

There is always a hold placed on a CC or DC when you check into a comp room, and it has nothing to do with resort fees. Thought the whole world knew that. Some places will take a cash deposit instead, but probably very few.

Rob is correct. Many transactions today have a "Deposit Fee". I got hit for $200 for a three hour car rental a few days ago nut it did not show up on my credit card statement. For myself, when going to Vegas or AC the key is knowing what the resort and local taxes are. Thankfully, I have dodged the fees (due to my wife's playing), but we always ask about any extraneous fees in advance when booking a room. I will admit that the individuals on the telephone are very accurate as to what charges may occur.

The only experience I've had was 14 years ago. I was a delivery guy and my business van's front end started collapsing. I was near the Horseshoe so I pulled in,knowing I was needing a safe place to park. I couldn't raise my business office, so I prepared to sleep in the hotel waiting area. A security guard said that was a no no. Finally, they asked if I had a player's card and when they found out I was a Diamond player, they immediately placed me in a room and told me not to worry about anything. I've always remembered that-and am doubly lucky it has turned out to be the winningest casino for me.

That was really good luck for you.

I go Wednesday to pick up a freebie hooded jacket, so I'll take these suggestions and ask about extraneous fees, etc. Just never cared about staying, but my wife is hinting! Thanks everyone.
