Interesting story, actually.

Tarwinder Shokar, a Canadian alcoholic and gambling addict, was banned from many casinos in Ontario.

After losing his entire fortune at Casino Brantford, he stepped out in front of a moving truck.... and lived. Then he got a large insurance payout somehow, presumably because he blamed the whole thing on the truck driver? (I'm just guessing about that last part.)

He then took the insurance payout to Caesars Windsor, and lost $342,000 over two visits in 2013.

He's now suing Caesars Windsor and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission for letting him play at all, seeking the $342k back plus $500k punitive damages.

He also alleges they "over-served" him alcohol, and continued to let him play while in a severely impaired state -- both of which are gaming violations if true.

This case is similar, but on a much smaller scale, to the Terrence Watanabe fiasco involving Caesars Las Vegas in 2007.

Caesars Windsor is located in Windsor, Ontario, just across the river from Detroit. Much of its action comes from US residents who live across the border, despite the fact that Detroit itself also has casinos. It is one of just three Caesars branded casinos, with the other two being in Las Vegas, Atlantic City. It is the only Total Rewards property in Canada.
