Thread: Golden Nugget Casino Issues me a Negative Comp Balance

  1. #1
I play poker at golden nugget casino for first time in several months. I notice next day my comp balance is still at $0. I go to enquire and I am told I have a negative comp balance. I speak to a host who says that due to a "glitch" I was awarded extra comps and have a $130ish negative balance now in comps. I ask to see a chart or anything showing me how and where the glitch occurred and they refuse.

What are my rights in this situation? I believe if a player is banned a casino still does not have the right to take their comps. I take detailed notes on how many comps I earn so if I was shown how many comps I was given on their end I could tell if I was given extra for some reason. There never seemed to be an abnormal amount of comps given to me although it certainly is possible that extra was given. Just wondering what rights and what information I am entitled to. Thanks

The only thing they can't take back is base points. In Vegas anyhow.

Doesn't sound like there's anything you can do. If they really did give you too many comps, they have a right to force you to earn back those erroneously-awarded comps before comping you further. In fact, they can also turn off future comp earning altogether if they want.

Well, at least that's Nevada's law. Not sure about AC.

So basically they aren't forced to show any proof? You just have to take their word for whatever they say. For instance if they say the glitch occurred 3 months ago, it would be impossible for them to have credited me with extra comps since I hadn't played there since july.

AFAIK, yeah. They can tell you to pound sand and you’re not eligible for comps anymore for no reason. That actually happened to me once. I asked why and the manager said “no reason, it’s just random” verbatim.

I always stress to take your cash back asap and use your comp asap as well.
Losing 130 comp isn't so bad.
I mean it can get worse.
I've had 2200 comp or higher wiped out on me in a blink before.
Of course I never said a word.
As a matter of fact, I just stopped playing there for a very long time.
This is all part of the game that we signed up for.
You have to kinda think of it as shrinkage or loss.
It isn't hard to snap over stuff like this though.
I have snapped on hosts before because they wouldn't give me a 7 dollar buffet lol.
Not much you can do in your situation.
Life is all about eating crow and this is just another example.
You get used to the taste
