Thread: The Adventures of MDawg (in progress)

P.S. Red I think $3. is fine for incoming valet at check in. I have done the $3. route versus the $5. route before too.

Also, for a valet at the Fremont, $3. is plenty. Not to be biased, but let's face it, the valet concession at the Wynn is worth a lot more than the concession at the Fremont.

  2. #62
Yeah, I think it's fine. I'd probably tip at least $5 at the Wynn. I guess it'd depend if I pulled a Thomas Magnum and borrowed the Lamborghini, in which case I'd tip plenty, or was driving an economy rental.

Just got back from the gym. Drinking a protein shake now, and after I eat will hit the tables. Don't feel like waiting for room service, so will be more along the lines of:

Yes as far as valet if you pull up in something like a Bentley you will seem like an a-hole handing them less than a ten, but still - with "free" casino valets unless you are checking into the hotel I think it is customary to tip more like when you pick up the car than when you drop it off. And I would say that the average tip when picking up your car at the casino is one dollar.

When I was very young, barely drinking age I had a brand new Carrera 4 cabriolet and was into clubbing. Not drinking, but clubbing. I had an understanding with the valets at the nightclubs around town that if I handed them a twenty my car would stay right out front, which was as much to the club's benefit as mine anyway, showing off expensive machinery at the entrance. As I recall though, I handed them the twenty on the way out not at drop off. A friend of mine later worked one of those valet jobs and he explained to me that the cars that were parked out front were not charged the usual parking fee so whatever I handed the valet, the entire twenty, he would get to pocket, while regular cars would go into the parking garage and get charged some flat fee like $7.50 or so (at some clubs it was $15. parking charge), plus whatever the guy was willing to tip the valet, which he said usually turned out to be $2.50 or $5. at most.

He told me that there were sometimes arguments among the valets over which cars got to be parked out front.

"There's a fine line." he used to say. "I mean with your car - obviously - but when someone [meaning the valet] wants to park some beat up car up front just so he can pocket all of the cash, that's not right."

At the Palms last trip I noticed the same Lamborghini and Ferrari parked out front and actually saw the Lambo owner pull up once (Nevada plates). I believe they are both locals. I assume they tip well. They seem to pull in just to gamble for the afternoon, as I have never seen any luggage.

Mdawg I appreciate your posts and your photos and you should eat what you want but given all quality food that you can eat comped, do you really want to eat as if you were quarantined in Wuhan?

At any rate, good luck at the tables if you choose to play some more.

I wouldn't believe anything he says fab even if you need to. The only reason this attention-seeking fool posts about "going to the gym" is because that's what he wants every reader to believe he does. Have you looked at his sissified hands? Does it look like this clown actually touches anything with the word "weights" included within?

That's because you've never been there. Tipping is different depending on where you go. No one expects tips across much of Europe, but if they get them the servers are confused at more than 5%.

Mdawg has posted lots of pictures of Rolexes. Rolexes are expensive, so he must be quite the High Roller!

Take comfort in the fact that no one is actually backing up his wishes to have you permanantly banned.

Wise is knowing a Tomato doesn't belong in a fruit salad.

I am glad to get my full posting rights back! Thank you Dan!

Dumb as a bag of rocks, still.

I have 2 Rolexes, and I play mostly lower limits these days. Must be the Cousin Eddie mentality....

I posted this at WOV some time ago. This video represents maybe 15% of my timepiece collection.

Pretty smooth sailing today. I arrived at a shoe that was about half played, completed that one, played one more shoe, and walked with some money. Not a ton, about fourteen hunny. That's a purple at the end of the stack.

Marker paid. That is an 18K rose gold Breguet I am wearing today by the way, not a Rolex. What they call, a "complicated" watch. How do you like the shirt, Mcap?

I was down no more than a couple thousand before starting to win, which is within expected variance for a $300. minimum table. Also, I was losing on the shoe I walked up to, while I won on the shoe I cut. Does it make a difference? Well, maybe. All I know is that I tend to cut very good shoes.

Tomorrow we move to the next resort, so I didn't want to spend time playing catch up all day again today or take any big risks. So as soon as I got a little ahead I just left. I generally am cautious on the last day of play at each resort. Anyway, success! Leaving this casino, too, ahead!

Why eat noodles in the room? Red I discussed this at WOV with some of the guys there. Yes, everything is comp'ed, but sometimes if I am in a hurry to play, I just won't eat. Will just head out the door rather than wait for room service. So it was my wife's idea to bring some of these Asian soups and canned fish so that I won't skip meals. Also, we keep a lot of fresh fruit and tea in the room, along with a water boiler. And a refrigerator for health drinks that you may not find in a hotel. Kombucha, yoghurt, probiotic drinks, all that.

Travel with vitamins and supplements too!

I've been going to the gym every other day pretty much since I was 18 and do some cardio then a lot of very heavy weights. I started bringing my own TRX straps last trip to augment my workout because there is only one resort gym in Vegas (Canyon Ranch at the Venetian) that has its own TRX straps, and I use the straps in addition to free weights and strength conditioning machines on each workout. I just string them up in the hotel gym, and no one has objected, in fact at Encore the main guy who runs the fitness center commented on how "Now THAT'S dedication" when he noticed that I bring my own TRX.

I'm pretty young and my wife is very young and we try to stay active, including when traveling. We stay very balanced in Vegas. We don't drink, we sleep fairly regular hours even in Vegas, she goes to the spa a lot. This is why, I think, that I am able to sustain extended stays in Vegas and not lose it.

Never be in a hurry. Au fur et a mesure!

All righty, almost 2/3 of the trip is completed, up over eight grand. It adds up. So far, so good. I probably will not play at all tomorrow. I need a break, and it will be check in day at the new resort anyway, and I typically do not play on check in / check out days.

You don't need a conglomeration of vitamins, minerals and whatever to stay healthy, esp. when a person is young. That's the stuff of hypochondriacs and all it serves is to stroke a confused ego. Just eat proper foods, stay away from lots of sugar, workout daily including a good walk (never run), don't smoke anything, drink minimal (not zero) alcohol, and don't spend a lot of time in smoke-infested casinos. And most of all, if you're really one of those California Flakes....stay off the phone in public places.

That looked like a nice shirt mdawg. Best to treat Rob like Elizabeth Warren and just disregard him.

  15. #75
Good Rolex video. Nice job of explaining. Thanks for that.

I am also figuring out that MDawg has a better collection of 70's shirts than I do, which bothers me. I will have to up my game.

  16. #76
Here's the repost of the shirt from Feb. 24th:

Do you mean "''70s" style shirts? because none of them is vintage from the '70s, although I do actually have a few '70s vintage shirts at home.

The above psychedelic design shirt is from the mid to late '90s it is a Jhane Barnes. Her designs were big in the '90s and early 2000s.

    This one:

is a silk Gucci, pretty recent acquisition. It has birds on it. When I wear it I think of that scene from Midnight Cowboy where Ratso Rizzo admires Joe Buck's "colossal shirt."

    This one:

is a Marc Jacobs, also a fairly recent acquisition.

That old saying comes to mind, “believe nothing you hear, and only half of what you see”. (even more so with sites like this)

I’ve been along for the whole computer ride up to this point but during my life when I did most of my real heavy gambling, not once did I try looking up books or information about how to do it. Experience came from friends and on the job training. I started casino gambling in the late 70’s. Not until a few years ago did I find Shanks sites pretty much by accident. I also found reading about one of my past passions interesting and for the most part more entertaining than learning anything. So, here I am.

Sites like WOV and others like here are predominantly loaded with bullshit artists trying to convince anonymous people how they were able to beat the odds and billion-dollar casinos. There are no doubt people who made millions doing it and got to live a carefree life. Unless we could know for fact how financially rich these people were when they died, getting to live a carefree life from gambling is still unconfirmed. I’m guessing there are at least two or three new millionaires made every week in each state playing lotteries. That doesn’t mean their going to die with any of it. (as we already know)

My point is, when people show up on these forums who have money and actually have enough of it to piss it away and have fun doing it, the alleged self-proclaimed professionals on these sites want to tell you how fucking stupid you are and although you made plenty money some where else you can’t be half has smart as them because you ‘re gambling without an edge, living large, and are having a good time. These types of people blabbing this nonsense are the most envious people you could ever run into. They are the type that would cut you to win a bet. They can’t deal with a person invading their alleged scared anonymous forums with real money most will never get to see or enjoy. The balls of someone to invade their playground flashing the type of money their all dreaming about.

I would bet that most of the members on these sites are broken down 2-bit losers. Does anyone actually believe that BBB from the WOV is some successful educated gambler? She protects her gambling friends on the site with the hopes of getting turned on to an ap play using their money and a chance to make a week’s pay. If monitoring a site like that loaded with bullshit artists like the Shank sounds anything like she’s living the dream; you got real issues. LOL Even Shank went broke gambling.

No one here believes MDawg will endlessly keep beating the casinos. As long as he doesn’t fuck up and become a degenerate, he could enjoy paying dearly for the luxury’s the casinos offer for his money forever. He claims to have bet much larger in his past. Maybe this is the level he realizes he could maintain. He enjoys flashing it cause it’s fun and for some a chance to show off his success. No doubt he can’t afford to through 500 million dollars out the window without a blink on advertising and not care. But for my opinion I enjoy the show and wish him the best of luck.

The best part of what he does which I enjoy the most, is the shoving it up the asses of the envious idiots on these sites that read this bullshit and only wish it was them.
BH, you failed to mention all the fans MDawg has that follow his threads. They cant wait for his return at WoV. And your criticism of Rob for his criticism of MDawg was quite unexpected as you've never criticized Rob for anything before.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

I started walking 4-5 miles 3 months ago(no real health issues known). My back soreness left and my endurance picked up. It all started when our church had a golf tournament and the weeks of practice really helped my stiffness. After that and TRYING a jumprope (almost killed me!), I settled on walking. Can't stop now.

No one's trying to make a living at gambling. But at the same time, if I lost money at it I wouldn't continue with it. I just somehow have managed to stay ahead, and the only dent they have made in my progress was when they banned (handicapped) my BJ play. To summarize, they got tired of my wild fluctuations between table min and table max at double deck BJ and that I was winning all of my table max bets including many double downs. Obviously the count alone could not have justified such luck, but after this went on for a number of days on yet another winning trip, the casino I was playing at, owned by Steve Wynn, stepped in and "handicapped" me - to a 3X spread.

"From now on if you bet $25. on a hand, you can't bet more than three times that, $75., on the next. No more $25. $2500. $25. $2500."

The limit at that time was $2500. This wasn't that long ago actually, about twenty or so years ago, but that was the limit at that casino at that time, $2500. This was when I was barely of legal age to gamble, but I had been playing blackjack and other card games since I was about eight years old, for fun, so I may have been relatively new to casinos but not new to playing cards.

After the BJ "ban" (handicap), I stayed away from Vegas entirely for almost two years, came back to the same casino, kept playing the same way, won for a matter of hours only, and got booted again from BJ.

Then I switched to Baccarat, and won even more at it than I had ever won at BJ. Eventually I became friends with the Director of Table Games who had set the handicap on me, who had since transferred to a different Wynn casino on the Strip, and he let me resume BJ play, and even laughed about how I liked to alternate between table min and max. But for whatever reason, I never really went back so hard to BJ, and have stuck with Baccarat. I just feel more comfortable betting big at Bacc.

I still play double deck BJ occasionally, but there is only one casino on the strip where they stand on soft 17 double deck BJ, so I pretty much play BJ at that casino only. There is one other casino, off the strip, where the double deck BJ is not only stand 17 but allows resplit aces and comes to a 0.14 house edge, but I am banned entirely from that casino - they fear me.

Sling, walking is one of the best exercises for your back. Next time you walk, hold one of your hands behind your back and feel the muscles move up and down.
