Or you could take Boz's word for it.

Meanwhile, what I have actually said, not paraphrasing, is that mortality rates should go down for the following reasons:

    1) It is not in a virus's long-term best interests to kill a lot of hosts.
    2) Since many of the most at-risk have already died, by definition, the mortality rate should go down.
    3) Health care professionals learn what does or does not work, so treatment and care should improve.

Having said that, to this point, the mortality rate in the U.S. has been more than 4%. As I said, directly quoting, "this is undoubtedly" high, as not much testing has been done, given the population.

The Box likes to paraphrase when he cannot find supportive direct quotes. If he had found supportive direct quotes, he would have used them.

For tips on how to watch television news, I suggest my rather disdainful blog entry: https://theskepticalgambler.blogspot...atch-news.html
A virus has a “long term best interest”? And acts toward it, naturally in a way to justify your silly vision of it.

You truly are an idiot RED, and not just any normal idiot, perhaps the biggest idiot out there.

I don’t take the time to find quotes, because almost everyone you make is to further your agenda. Nothing more.

And as I have said many times, I’ll never understand how someone like you ended up this bitter, broke, angry old man living in TN getting off wishing for more deaths. Had to be a lot of missteps along the road of your life to end up like this. Maybe it’s typical for liberals, always looking for someone like to government to fix a lifetime of bad decisions. I do feel sad for what you have become and where you ended up.

Lesson to kids, end up like MDawg, not RED.

I like to think of myself as a fun dude.

Some further issues with The Boz's information:

If you've been following the statistic reporting in the U.S. for the last month or so, you'll notice that it has been raggedy. Sundays, for example, are routine under-reporting in both cases and deaths in most states and for the country as a whole. Deaths "catch up" early the next week. Depending on whether it's a holiday weekend, numbers gets delayed and sorted out on Mondays or Tuesdays. So when Boz cherry picks a Sunday number, that would be what one one would do if you were trying to make a case for something.

Also, interestingly, if you check the CNN "death count" as compared to other sources, CNN has been bending over backwards to provide the lower Johns Hopkins count. They are being pristine in providing the lowest end of the various tallies. CNN, in fact, when compared to other sources, has been running 1,500 to 3,000 behind. So the idea that CNN and Johns Hopkins are exaggerating numbers is very far from the truth. Don't take my word for it. Check the CNN numbers versus other tallies.

As for being broke, it's all in the eye of the beholder. Compared to Gary, for example, who's featured in some photos in my Retro Road Trip thread, I'm perpetually broke. Good thing I can pull a Thomas Magnum and borrow one of his cars when I need it. Unfortunately, there are youtube videos somewhere of me driving the Lambo and getting mercilessly ribbed for not going more than 30 mph when off the freeway. I mean, really Boz, I have a 3,000 pound library, and that's because I gave away almost 2,000 pounds of books. Do you have any idea what that library cost?
The only "fun dude" thing about you is when you shove your middle finger up your faggy ass and end up shouting I LOVE TRUMP! in Farsi.

We were just on our way when we found out that the gyms are closed again. Back home now. I hope this gym shutdown doesn't last three months!

May have to start building something at home, at this rate.

I am certain the party of law and order will be outraged as more evidence comes into view.

I would expect no less of the party of law and order.

More details as I learn them
Presidents and Governors rarely hand out pardons for people who were recently convicted. Trump however, has done that, for example to Joe Arpaio, soon after the AZ sheriff was convicted of contempt of court.

Also to military personnel convicted of egregious acts where their military superiors are up in arms at the whitewashing of the offenses,
Trump grants clemency to troops in three controversial war crimes cases
and again, very soon after the convictions were handed down.

Also, commutations are generally handed out for those who have already served a substantial amount of their sentences. For example even when California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger commuted the sentence of Esteban Núñez, the teen who pleaded guilty to the stabbing death of another teenager,
Arnold Schwarzenegger's last act as governor still follows the Terminator
and it was said that Schwarzenegger did this as a favor to Esteban's father, Fabian Núñez, the 66th Speaker of the California State Assembly, still he merely lowered the sentence in about half to 7 years versus 16.

But in this case Trump pardoned Stone before he served a single day of his sentence.

As well, typically, at least while sitting in office, government officials tend to award pardons and commutations to people they don't know - on the basis of merit.
Even the "hacks and cronies" pardons handed out en masse by lame duck Presidents are delivered on the way out. It is unprecedented that a sitting President, not even yet voted out of office, would do such a thing, hand out pardons and commutations left and right to his friends and supporters.

Perhaps Trump thinks he is on his way out and doesn't care.

Dude, I pin my and everyone I knows health on it not being an issue long term. It’s why I live my life like I do.

Far better to enjoy life everyday than living in fear of every boogie man around the corner. Sounds like you fucked up in the past 60+ years. We can all go any and everyday by things out of our control.

I risk my life every time to drive, fly or go hiking on a tough trail. Hell we could be nuked tomorrow, I grew up like you did under that fear.

You can hide in your house, looking to get back to living a mundane life, or you can LIVE life everyday. But hey, if you are happy playing Doctor Doom, taking a pill to get it up and banging your girlfriend everyday, more power to you.

I honestly could go today and have few regrets, not sure how many can say that. And I respect everyone who can. I’m guessing those who want to bitch about people not wearing masks can’t and have a lot of regrets.

Four months is an eternity to this market. Whatever happened today has nothing to do with the election.

For example the day after the Brexit vote was lost, just about exactly four years ago, the markets were panicking, sell sell selling. Many others, myself included, were BUYING. It was clear to me that it would be YEARS before Brexit took effect, if it did. Well, today it looks like the UK may well break with the EU after all...eventually. Does the market even care?

A nuclear bomb could hit S.F. on Friday, and by Tuesday this market might be roaring back up again.

In any case, everyone in the know, including Trump himself, figures that Trump is finished. Politics aside - who cares. The markets will keep moving up eventually. They always have.

I think you may be wrong this time. They do always come back, but you are way too cocky about them going up in a semi straight line. It’s a unique time and don’t count Trump out yet. The debates will tell the story. If Biden can make it 3 hours, 3 times seeming semi coherent, yea Trump is done.

For the market. I’m guessing it will be back to companies stashing cash like in the Obama years, pissing liberals off more. Which may create more liberal legislation to punish them.

By the way, why is a healthy middle aged healthy person like you so in fear of CV and Vegas? Should you be there kicking their asses and shoving a garden hose down their mouth when they are struggling? Surely your ability to beat them at will be an ego boaster to you at this time?

Or are you really just a typical scared of their shadow CA pussy?

Boz: I don't think I'm quite middle aged yet? lol Will get there soon enough, as will we all.

Go where? Do what? Most everything is closed. Hiking is available, but it's a little hot in southern Cal today.

Actually I did have a thought. I mentioned to my wife...after we got home from the failed attempt to go to our own gym here...I think the gyms are open in Vegas. Let's go.

Inflation is a primary factor in the price increases of many assets. Sometimes they outpace and other times they under perform. I'm asking myself why the market is not 40k with a $6 trillion injection into the economy and and another $3 trillion or so on the way.....lol

Consider the Nevada side of Tahoe. So many trails to hike, beaches to be on, boats to enjoy. And if you want them, Vegas style casinos. Yea, no Cosmo, but you would be a star at Harrahs/ Harvey’s or Hard Rock with suites. Many with incredible lake view balconies.

Gyms and spas are open along with bars (for now until our Newsom light governor follows his idol) and restaurants. Incredible tp drive any road you take, or fly into Reno.

Try it, you will love it.

Yes, you have a point. Between SBA advances and loans, 600 a week plus unemployment to stay at home and stimulus checks perhaps the economy should be doing better.

Hey, the market sold off ONE day after roaring ceaselessly for days. It's not that big a deal as long as it does not continue downwards.

She wants to do that Tahoe Rim Trail. I just read about that idiot who attacked one person and killed another there or near there recently though.

I used to spend about two months of each year in Tahoe. Haven't been there in a couple years tho.

I stopped gambling in Tahoe period - over a decade ago - the odds at double deck BJ are not good, and they don't even have midi or grand Baccarat anymore. But I don't have to gamble to enjoy Tahoe, been there many times over past decade without gambling a penny. Yes Tahoe is nice you have a point.

All the money you listed is long gone. The so called “poor” will always be poor because they are stupid and spend cash as soon as they get it. It’s why Apple stock keeps going up. They sell a perfectly good phone for pennies on the dollar for a new one. And get fucked into a new contract a an extra $10 a month. Good for us short term, not sure long term.

Same as UC, why should I work when I can get more to sit on my ass, play video games, smoke weed and buy a new TV at Best Buy?

Only time will tell the damage we did rewarding laziness.

Yea that was horrible, and they were in a Jeep, not hiking. Crazies everywhere.

The entire Tahoe Rim Trail is 265 miles. Definitely a goal to do sections at a time. In fact there is a book that you can track your travels on.

I did a section the other day by Van Sickle Bi State park. I seriously doubt I do it over the rest of my life. That said I have done many mountain lake hikes including Eagle Lake and Marlette Lake. All incredible hikes to places few get to see.

Even on a down day, money is possible.

this was on a major TSLA dip. If I held it longer, it was a fifty grand trade. Yes, TSLA actually went from 1448 to 1558 after I sold at 1458. Still, five grand today, and five grand yesterday, plus assorted change from AMZN extra shares trades...equals...a good amount.

It's gotten to where I don't want to get out of bed until I've booked at least five grand. But don't let me pat myself on the back too hard or I might fall over.

Got tricked into selling too soon on this morning's trade. Only made a K.

It happens...the stock sells off to a point far below your entry point, in this case down to 1483, so you figure let's just make a grand and get out.

But, the entry point was sound. TSLA was down from its 1545 high so 1507 was a proper entry. And it did go all the way back to 1530 or so after I sold at 1509.

Still, a K adds up. Today is going to be a little more difficult and I generally am an early morning trader only, before the stock has lost its "elasticity" (rebound). By later in the day if the stock takes a big dip, lack of time and elasticity might work against you, and leave you stuck holding an intended day trade overnight. However, sometimes these trades you hold overnight in a temporarily losing position end up being the biggest winners as the stock roars back big on another day.

Another thing to keep in mind...as Jesse Livermore used to say...is that the time to buy is when the price is right. This does not mean that you put some artificially low price and figure that this is the best entry for the stock. Before I entered this trade at 1507, 1511 was actually a much better entry because at that point when it hit 1511 it jumped straight back to 1521 in seconds.

By the same token, 1495 might be a great entry early in the day and later in the day 1475 might be a terrible entry. Just depends on the stock's action at the time.

Figure that before the Crash of 1929, GM closed on Sept. 3, 1929, with a share price of $89.85 Any price below that was a great price during that bull run. In 1932, no one wanted to touch GM at even 20 dollars, as it was running around 16.

Similarly, saying "I won't touch TSLA around 600 or 800" when it was on its way up to 1800, was wrong. The time to buy is when the price is right. The dollar figure means little compared to the entry point in time.
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.
