Where will you store it? It's like a yacht unless you have some place to keep it free it costs quite a bit a month.

I already said... My Father has property there, I will store it here until I find my own property. I don't want to keep it as his place permanently because it's at least 150 miles from where I want to be most of the time. That would be a bitch 150 miles to his place then 150 miles back to where I want to go. Then 150 miles back to store it. Then 150 miles back the the airport
I see a lot of RV's parked in a private storage lot on the reservation of Spirit Mtn. Casino.
I assume it is not just locals.
Makes sense; if you live in Portland and travel south to RV, as most do, why not store it en route where storage fees are much cheaper than in the city?
What, Me Worry?
Class C RVs tend to dress up more than Class A’s
They also tend to use bigger words.
I don't plan on crossing into Oregon I would be heading toward Canada. It's actually the same distance from my dad's house to both Portland Oregon and Seattle.
If I don't find any property in the area I like, I might very well see if I can store it at a facility economically. Obviously, there's a significant value to parking it at my father's house since I want to visit him.
I did a play at Spirit Mountain and spent a bit of time there. I did a lot of fishing in that area and it was terrible. Obviously, it's better near the coast.
I spent a lot of time in Portland Oregon when I was young since my grandparents lived in Longview Washington. It was super nice back then. The last time I went through there it was fairly depressing. Don't get me wrong, Portland Oregon on its worst day is much nicer than Las Vegas on its best day as far as the outdoors goes. I want to hit places like Port Townsend, Port Angeles, the San Juan Islands, Olympic National Park, and Bellingham.
If you have time, take the ferry to Victoria BC if you've never been there before: neat place.
If you go, try having High Tea at the Empress Hotel for a feel of that old British aristocracy.
As for Portland today...A couple years ago my F-250 was stolen and the catalytic converter was removed.
Then it was stolen again...for a joy ride.
Today I woke up only to find that some tweaker punched a hole in the gas tank in order to "fuel up" at my expense.
Fuck this place...too many druggies, homeless and rabid lesbians.
What, Me Worry?
I'm just reading this.
Yes, better used rv prices can be found in Az. not due to snowbird deaths or whatever, but because of the vast numbers of them always being available. Theres nearly 5 million people in the Phx. area, and rv's are everywhere.
You sound like a class C guy because they afford all the comforts of class A's without the hassle of having to drive a bus-like gargantuan. Also, class Aers don't fish much. More importantly, you're at a good age to get into RVing. You need more than reasonable good health to keep up with these rigs, and you need to be able to handle a good bottle of hundred-proof Captain Morgan at the end of day long drives, or issues with the tanks, propane, slide-outs, awnings etc. Then there's the continuous securing everything before hitting the roads and set-ups when you get to your destinations.
Fuel mileage is VERY important to nearly every rver, whether they admit it or not. WARNING!!---For those easily offended when I talk about our sold 2011 Newell, suggest you skip this paragraph.
We never made RV trip decisions based on the price of a gallon of diesel (or gasoline now). But at 5mpg, it passed me off to have to shell out so much money just to have to drive an uncomfortable road vehicle around. Class A's are no fun to drive, especially the longer ones. And if you're gonna tow a car, be ready for multiple challenges.
Bottom line: I think everyone should try it at least once. If a person is able to do it and has no issues with owning a money pit, it's a great new world. But if you're someone looking to get a good resale value later on, forgetaboutit.
The happiest RVers are those who throw their souls into it. No one ever does it all correctly. But if you've properly planned, whether as a full-timer (we did so for 5 years) or as a part-time traveler (as we now are) it can be very enjoyable.
Robert, one reason there are a lot of RV's in AZ is because folks from Pac NW and other states flock there to enjoy RVing; maybe they tire and sell due to disenchantment, or old age, infirmity, or death.
The point is simply this: it ain't all locals selling their toys as you implied.
Wise up.
What, Me Worry?
We should probably throw in some M dog-related stuff since he believes this to be his thread. I can't say who or why, but somebody sent me this via PM. How about you guys guess who it's actually about and wonder why they believe this to be the case?
Come on Rob, you have to believe there's actually some Merit to what he's saying. It sounds logical. I'm sure there are multiple reasons as to why and I think there's something to what he's saying. I'm actually very interested in this so please don't let your Feud with KJ and his supporters get in the way of the truth and reality just to win an argument. This is a situation that could actually save me thousands of dollars. Not too long ago I almost drove to Arizona to buy one. I decided against it because it was just too much hassle, commitment, and moving parts to accomplish my goal. One of the reasons why I decided to go to Washington, along to help my dad settle into his new place. I was sick and tired of seeing something I really wanted only to have it snapped up before I could even get there. It really sucked putting myself through that. I decided to f*** it I'm going to stop looking from such a far distance and just go with the intention of staying and looking until I find one I can easily go look at and purchase if it's the right situation. Basically, I'm going to Washington just to buy an RV.
My father, who is currently living in Arizona, he bought a place there a few years back (as predicted, I told him he would absolutely hate it, he in fact, absolutely hates it. He's getting the f*** out of there now, even before his house sells). He knows quite a bit about this stuff. As I mentioned before my dad's a retired master mechanic and import specialist. After the army, he started a job as a diesel mechanic. He's worked for multiple dealerships and owned his own shops.
He actually worked for the state in his later years as a vehicle inspector and moved up to various other jobs that dealt with vehicles. He's been buying, selling, inspecting, and fixing RVs for as long as I can remember. He's always looking for good deals on RVs it's like a hobby of his. I know he'll help me when picking out an RV but my dad is super skeptical when it comes to anyone selling any kind of a vehicle. Said he could only guide me and inspect the RV and see what he sees, but as he rightly pointed out there are never any guarantees it's because he can't sit there and tear down the engine, see all the electrical, and look at all the possibilities on a normal inspection. Should you buy a brand new one and it could go to s***.
Also echoed what MR. V was saying About AZ RV's even before we had this discussion here.
So I was betting to the limit and killing them even when I was barely of legal gambling age, so what? Here, you're now an older guy and your whole life you still haven't had reason to play to the limit at any table game because you can't figure out how to win at those levels, you're still putzing around with the low end at Ellis Island.

Your idea of the high end, good life, is to stay in bed all day, venturing out only to pick up a broken laptop at a garage sale to make a hundred bucks:
Axel laptop repair bum stays in bed all day:
what does that tell you about this guy? that he gets a boner over spending hours of his time to make a C-Note? No wonder he had to propose that I bankroll his play at my table!
Remember when you asked me to bankroll your play at my table?

If your dad can help you in choosing the right one for you, especially mechanically, then you're going into RV ownership several steps ahead of how the majority goes into it.
MrV gave an incomplete assessment of why so many rigs sell in Az. I've been a resident here in one way or another for around 40 years and an RV owner for 12 , so while V and I are stating our points a bit differently, do you trust pothead-pontification--or actual knowledge & experience? We're not that far apart on this anyway.
Whether owners become disenchanted with the RV life, whether they tire or die or whatever he's saying---locals are locals. Snowbirds are locals....I'm actually a snowbird now. Most "visitors" dont leave their RV's behind when its time to sell them. A great portion of the population over here is from somewhere else, and as expected, they have ruined the Phx. area. And they've turned a great many RV parks into being mainly trailer parks, with their trashy wooden patios, their collections of junk stored around and under their RV's, and their incessantly annoying need to plant grass in this beautiful desert just so it can "feel like being home".
I'm sure your dad mentioned this: ALL RV's, with the exception of the Prevosts, the Newells, and a few of the Airstreams, are constructed of the cheapest materials available. Quality Control is overall seriously lacking within the industry. So when buying, it's always better to take the time looking for a PREVIOUSLY OWNED one that makes you the least unsure. Let some other guy go thru the warranty headaches etc. getting all the kinks out of it. And make no mistake--bringing in an RV of any kind for service us a major hassle, especially if you're living in it.
You're probably also aware: RV's aren't investments like a home is--they're disposable income drainers. If you like spending money, you'll love RV's. We only use ours in the summer these days. But we store it at an indoor facility in Carson City, and it ain't free.
Nice attempt to split hairs there, Robert ... saykng snow birds become "locals" once they park an RV in AZ.
*golf clap*
I stand by my earlier comment.
BTW, I know for a fact that people from the Pac NW do go to AZ to get good deals on RV's: my son just so happens to "be in the RV business" and they've gone to auctions in AZ to purchase RV's for resale at a good profit in Oregon.
But hey, don't let reality knock you off the rock you sit on at night, roasting S'Mores around the Sterno camp fire ...
What, Me Worry?
Oh yes, this crap again, exactly how many DM's have you sent me with this same b*******?
Stalker much?
Appreciate you giving me the opportunity to talk about some stuff I normally wouldn't, and perhaps tell a few interesting stories.
I'll take one issue at a time so I don't have a super huge wall of text.
You're really stuck on this Ellis Island thing, aren't you? I haven't played at Ellis Island in a very long time. The last time I was actually in Ellis Island was one someone from the form invited me there to talk business. There are quite a few people on these forums who love Ellis Island.
I don't give a s*** what casino I'm in, as long as there's an advantage to be had. Most Advantage Players I know of have the same attitude. Ellis Island's money spends the same as the Wynn's does.
I played at worse places than Ellis Island including some s*** whole places in Northtown. Speaking of s*** hole places I invited Mike to play a promotion at the Longhorn where he gave me a percentage of his action. There were quite a few Forum members and tons of other Advantage Players there. I estimate around 50. There was even some big wig-slot YouTubers playing there. Mike asked for permission to write about it and you can view it over on Wizard of Vegas if you would like.
Back to Ellis Island. I have made tens of thousands of dollars from Ellis Island. They've actually had some pretty good promotions throughout the years.
Some of the blackjack players can appreciate this one. They had an ad in the newspaper with a match play coupon that you could use to bet the table maximum. their table Max was $500 at the time. I got a bunch of Sunday papers. I'm sure I even stopped at the library and snagged the coupon out of their newspaper.
I got the library idea because there have been a few times when I missed an ad in the newspaper, and couldn't find any more newspapers. I really wanted the coupons because they were worth quite a bit of money and the only thing I could think of was to go to the libraries and get the ones from there. There have been coupons where you could bet up to 5k on the match play.
I don't know how many coupons I got off at Ellis Island before they shut that down, but that's basically free money to me, and I'm not passing it up no matter where it's at. I dig that type of shit. I could have billions of dollars and I'd probably still go play $100 match plays assuming it wasn't too inconvenient.
