Redietz, Montana peaked in early April averaging 16 new cases per day. Since reopening on April 24, we have been averaging just 1.17 new cases per day. And that is with the number of tests per day doubling since mid April.

Your prediction of the peak being in June or July is not going to happen.
It sounds like Montana is one of the better places to be with relatively few cases. Not all that surprising with limited population and things seemingly more open and spread out compared to a place like NYC where people live on top of each other.

Nevada also has relatively low numbers. Last time I looked about 7000 cases and 300 some deaths. 300 deaths....hell that is just a couple good mass shootings. (sorry bad joke).

Here my fear is that as soon as they open up casinos and put people back together cases explode. Almost has to doesn't it? And it isn't even about getting the virus. I have had the virus and maybe have some protection. What if I am in a car accident or involved in a shooting or anything medical emergency requiring medical attention and the hospitals are all overwhelmed with Covid cases. All the ICU beds are full. The nurses and doctors all overworked working 80-100 hours a week and them getting sick on top of everything. That is the concern.

And while I don't know Montana's hospital ICU bed situation, I would imagine it isn't very much and wouldn't take all that much for it to become overwhelmed. So what if you need medical attention? God forbid have another heart issue or complication?

I am not making a case for shutting down for 2 years, because I don't want that. I don't know what the answer is because the thing isn't going away. And I hope I am wrong about that, but it isnt the way these viruses work. They go away when they go away, not when people will them to go away.
The shutdown actually turned Montana's hospitals into ghost towns. No elective surgeries and not many hospitalizations from coronavirus. To date 479 CV cases with 65 hospitalizations out of a population of 909,000. Currently only 22 active cases with 3 active hospitalizations.

We've been reopened for a month. We've had no positives in the last 3,157 tests. Redietz doom & gloom prediction for Montana is just not happening.

Montana is a microcosm of the rest of the country. With the right precautions in place the virus is not flaring up with the reopening.

Montana is nothing like where most of the population exists in the US. "microcosm" because you live there? The whole state's population doesn't hit a million and it is huge. No one wants to go there during the winter and everyone is used to not doing anything so lockdowns worked out. "microcosm" yea right.

So in Miami, the FL governor had a presser today, for Supreme Court appointments. A few questions came up. In Miami the mortality rate now stands at .14%. The CDC announced nationwide the rate is .26%. Why is this not broadcast far and wide? Simple, democrats need dead bodies to subvert President Trump, there is no other answer.

  6. #486
By the way, cranking out the calculator, the original guess was 3.4% or 11.2 million dead. New number via CDC is 858,000. This is all assuming we all get it. Bottom line Corona is 2.6 times more deadly than common flu, certainly not worth destroying the national economy.

Good Point and I agree but the snowball has already started down the mountain and has turned into an Avalanche.
Now it's basically two sides yelling at each other.
One side believes we have to hide in our homes and get Free Everything.
The other side wants to go back to the way it was.
Nobody wins except the people selling PPP and the ones who make the rules.

Something has to be done!!!! Something has to be done!!!! We have to stay at home!!!! We have to stay at home!!!! Pretty soon there is going to be only 99.98% of us left!!!!

It will be interesting to see. The lockdowns worked too well. Literally impossible for those who made that decision look like they did the right thing to many of a certain mental persuasion. Even if you guys are right and we see a decrease because of summer this thing will be back during the winter.

We've had a flare-up of coronavirus cases in Montana the last few days. All the new cases are coming out of Big Horn County which is where the Crow Indian Reservation is. There was a case found then contact tracing found the rest. Of the 28 active cases in Montana 18 of them are in Big Horn County. Current stats are 493 cases out of 38,529 tests. Only 2 active hospitalizations.

Because of lightly populated rural areas contact tracing is an easy thing to do in Montana and it nips the spread of the virus in the bud.

What do you mean “worked too well?” If the cases continued to grow while everybody was locked down in their basements that would be one scary virus. We’d have the first virus known to mankind that spreads without human contact.

The question we’ll never be able to answer is what would have happened if we’d locked gamma and grampa in the baesment and the rest of us got to go about our lives somewhat normally. We’d probably have a couple more cases, and yes, some people with preexisting conditions might have died (unless they decided to lock themselves in the basement too), but the economy wouldn’t have gone in the toilet.

There were no easy choices, but the reaction of locking everybody down was definitely overkill.

You dumb fucking fool, the CDC is no longer doing its job. It is fake science. Thats why.

The lockdown cut down on virus, then all the bozos come out and say "oh it was never a problem". Likely not enough people caught it either for any sort of herd immunity. So we're in same spot we were.

You can't lock up grandpa and grandma. Caretakers have kids. Schools. You're a fool if you think doing nothing would have led some a much better conclusion. I have no clue, but at least I'm smart enough to get that. Your kid is sick, you got to go to work, because this is America. You going to fret over losing your job and taking care of your kid, or send him to school? (Although that isn't a good example, given kids are asymptomatic.)

The biases of you Trump voters are on a new level from anythng I've seen in my lifetime.

There are places that have beat this, NZ, and some asian countries. Japan. The people there haven't been fed a constant stream of bullshit though and likely choose leaders based on competence and now showmanship.

Not in the good ol USA. Being a dumb mother fucker is a badge of honor! Everyone is a bigger expert than the experts, because they *know* its bullshit. Yea yea.

My take on the whole thing is we had to do what we did based on the situation, and no knowing much at that time. For the most part, I haven’t been critical of that.

I was more critical of the people who wanted to extend the lockdown, beyond anything reasonable. I mean some of the liberals on tv were talking about 2 years. CNN would have so called experts on, and each one would talk about it like it was Armageddon and we’d be locked down forever.

The liberals never seemed to acknowledge that most people weren’t at risk. And when they’d report deaths, they didn’t like to report their ages. You’d have thought just random healthy people were dieing like flies and that was not the case.

Could we have opened up earlier? Probably. But I’m not gonna crible with a month here or there.

The states that were going to extreme measures like Michigan and California were the ones people made the most fun of. Even Saturday Night Live did a skit on Michigan’s govern. When a liberal spoofs another liberal, you know the first liberal has gone over the edge. And the states that sent the National Gaurd to people’s homes looking for vistors from NY, yeah was a little over the top.

I thought Trump handled it about right, and his press conferences were a hoot. He even played doctor in a couple of them, which got the libs screaming. I think he did that moslty to get under their skin. Libs like to attack his slightest little misstatement and run with it. Common Joe Blow doesn’t care. Trump knows that so he has fun with the press.

It is fascinating. I read every paragraph and you seem completely reasonable then Trump comes up. If there is Trump Derangement Syndrome then surely there must be Trump Love Syndrome. You give Trump way too much credit. He says shit that he thinks will appeal to his base. He double downed on his hydroquoliniene intake because his narcissism forced him to save face. Trump wouldn't want to associate with them or have anyhting to do with them, yet the fawn over him. Crazy shit.

Here’s why you and Haward Stern don’t get it. We all know that. Heck, Trump trades in his wife for a new model every couple years. Trump likes to mix with the wealth and elite, but he gets the working man, something the Dems don’t understand.

Why do we like him? Because of his policies and his belief in America. Because he says what middle American believes. Because he’s not PC. Because he doesn’t go around the world appoligizing for America like Omba did.

Trump’s biggest supportest are the religious right. Trump probably wouldn’t want to hang out with most of them, and they know that. Why do they like Trump then? Because he came through with his Supreme Court nomination, because of his policy, etc. Becaue he’s 5,000 times better than the alternative.

You see conservatives aren’t shallow, like libs and the Dems. Conservatives evaluate policitians based on their actions, not based on if they think he’d want to hang out with them.

Libs base their decision based on superficial things, like gender. That’s why Biden has to find a women.

Well even if you do know all know it, it is crazy. He doesn't represent you or your interests, only when by random chance.

He gives the ambassador to wealthy donators like no other President ever had. What policy is that? Draining the swamp? I get rich people like cool unique vacations, but this *is* our country.

I tend to hate the identity politics of the vocal left and many democrats. Yet Trump will say or do anything. He's brought this country to a new low. I hope we recover and he hasn't set some standard and our country just become a corrupt shithole from here on out.

Trump was motivated the night Obama made fun of him. He would go around making birther comments to get air time, then Obama takes shots at him at whitehouse correspondance dinner, it disturbed his narcissism at the core. That motivated him to get elected and then motivated him to have 2 singular points. Get relected and remove anything positive Obama ever did. That sums up Trump. I would find it hard to believe a man as petty as Trump has ever been elected to the PResidency before him.

Like he won't take pictures with his fat daughter and things. I just can't begin to fathom this guy. He's so disgusting he couldn't find a successful American woman, so he's went mail-order most of the time. It goes on and on.. but he panders like no one else. He plays that game very well.

One thing I like about Trump though is I do like being against free-trade. My opinion has changed a bit over the past few years. My problem is that it monkeys with the free-market and plays favorites. It is also a tax on the American people. So it hasn't been all bad.. just the vast majority of his policies are shit just like the man himself

Have you noticed who is violating the lockdown in these liberal cities the last few days? The hard left has said "fuck the lockdown." They are out there rioting, looting, and, because of no social distancing, spreading coronavirus. These are the same people that vilified Trump supporters for wanting to end the lockdown. Talk about hypocrites. That word is not strong enough to describe what these idiots are doing. And no liberal politicians are calling them on it.

The hard left has now officially ended the lockdown.
