Thread: The Covid-19 $1,000 Handouts? :)

  1. #1
Trump said that he plans to give $1,000 checks to a LOT of Americans due to Covid-19 causing a lot of shutdowns. My mother temporarily lost her job due to being a Teacher and Miami Dade Schools being temporarily closed, so she definitely should be getting a $1,000 check. Technically however, she only loses one extra week since she would have been off for Spring Break week next week anyways.

I don't know if I will be getting a $1,000 check due to the fact that my Walgreens is NOT shutting down. At least one report said that Walgreens can't shut down since it is a Pharmacy and many people will die if they can't get their medicines. My Walgreens however DID reduce their hours by HALF. O.O Luckily MY hours won't be affected, since I work in those reduced hours, but the people who work during those reduced hours are FUCKED without Trump's help. They most likely will be getting a $1,000 since although our Walgreens is NOT shutting down, they will be temporarily unemployed due to Walgreens being closed during the hours that they work. Unless Walgreens does a MAJOR schedule overhaul where EVERYBODY works during the reduced hours which is highly unlikely in my opinion.

Is anyone out of a job on here to the Covid-19 shutdowns? Has anyone already received a $1,000 from Trump yet?

Take comfort in the fact that no one is actually backing up his wishes to have you permanantly banned.

Tasha, based on what info has been released, I think you will get a check. The checks aren't going to just those that have become unemployed. Phase 2 of the relief, which I believe was the bill passed and already signed, increases funds for those unemployed or losing hours. These $1000 checks is phase 3, which is still being negotiated, but it looks like it will go to every American with an income of less than either $75,000 or $150,000 (still being negotiated).

What I am not sure of is if that will be based on earned income, which would include only people that receive a paycheck, or based on anyone earning less than whatever amount they decide on which would include people self employed. My guess is it will be based on a persons tax filings, which would include self employed people.

Also not sure whether it will include retired people on social security. There has been no mention of that. People on social security really aren't effected financially as their income (social security) is continuing as normal. But so far they are saying every American, so that would include....well everyone. We'll see what they decide, but under almost every circumstance, you should be getting a check.

Here's the correct info on who gets checks, based on this morning's info.

You make less than $99k, you get a check. Between $75k -$99k you get a reduced amt.

All retired people get a check, whether they receive SS or not and/or also work part time or not.

They're discussing different amounts--$600 twice, or maybe $1000 onceor twice. Either way, that'll give most forum gambling degenerates some spare cash to hand over to the casinos. That's what most of you are worried about.

The latest is a $1,200 check, and a couple can get $2,400. KJ makes too much money to get a check, but Moses should qualify.

At least it was a decent new thread, All Things Considered. One step at a time.

FYI if I start a new thread or topic there's a very good chance it won't be in the appropriate spot. So let me apologize now.

All the land base casinos are closed Rob. I never received one of these stimulus checks(wasn't there one like 2008 or 2009?). What's the process, is there a bunch of red tape or is it really simple?

There was $300 checks that went out in the early 2000's. I can't remember why.

There's nothing to do to receive this one. They now say it's gonna be $1200 for singles and $2400 for couples, decreasing in amount based on incomes over $75,000/$150,000 up to $99,000/$198,000. At $99,000/$198,000, you are disqualified. It's based on the AGI on your 2018 tax return. People who don't file are therefore probably excluded. AOC wants illegals to be included and they all laughed at her.

The run on toilet paper is completely stupid. Of all things--you can use a thousand other items to wipe up if you have to. Even your hand.

My grocery store has no meat of any kind, no onions or potatoes, no milk, no bleach, no kleenex, and they limit every popular item to one per. Most other shelves are at least half empty. That's why there's dumbasses dragging their kids in to fill their own carts. If this lasts more than 6 weeks we're driving back up to S. Dakota. There's no shortages of anything in the rural parts there.

One great thing about all this. The streets are devoid of many of the assholes who rush around during the day. Few care that I drive the speed limit and stop at yellow lights and stop signs. But when it gets back to normal, I'll enjoy pissing the hell out of all the nervous wrecks by my respect for road laws.

Thank you, Axel! There have been rare tines when people have said stuff like,"Did Nathan actually make a really GOOD post? She can make really good posts when she puts her mind to it! I'm pleasantly surprised! If she keeps making GOOD posts she might actually become a top respected Poster! "

One notable instance being a top Poster congratulating me on calling out A Casino who straight up lied to their Gamblers by mailing out offers of free play, Tier Upgrades, Upgraded Comps, and free gifts. When the Gamblers came to collect the promised offers.... The Casino admitted those offers that were mailed were actually non existent. I said that the Casino shot themselves in the foot by lying to their Gamblers and disgusted Gamblers would just boycott that Casino and go give their business to other Casinos, and spread bad word of mouth about that lying Casino and that Casino would lose a lot of business with their stumpid scam they played. . They were like,"Nathan, I can't believe I'm saying this, but you actually made a very mature and insightful post that I actually 100 percent agree with! Kudos to you!"

"My Steve Cyr is a cold hearted jerk!" thread was also a rare thread of mine that was taken REALLY seriously. I was so angry that Steve Cyr heavily implied that he helped caused like FIVE of his Gambler Client's suicides and he had a very disgusting and casual approach to their suicides.

" My Client, a high Roller named Randy Wilkes shot himself in the Casino bathroom after gambling and losing his Family's Fortune in one night. Oh well, it's just business for me and he is an Adult and he didn't HAVE to gamble and lose his Family's Fortune, it was his own choice to make a bad decision like that," was seriously Cyr's disgusting way of thinking.

Tasha I appreciated that you tried by putting your Walgreens stock question in a different subsection. I was going to respond, but thought it was a silly thread anyways so didn’t. Even if it was a good thread it probably should have been in the “money, real estate, investing” subsection instead of “whatever’s on your mind,” but at least you tried to virtual fist for that.

my brother just came back to the United States after long-time of living in another country. He has no job yet therefore he hasn't been able to file. He sure could use some extra money since he has been taking care of my mother(I have been paying most of the bills) He's in the works getting paid to be her permanent caretaker since she's in 24/7 in home hospice care.

In My opinion he certainly deserves it. I wonder if there will be a way he can actually get it?

A Poster on here said they heard that EVERY American is getting a $1,000 check, but that seems just a little preposterous to give EVERY American $1,000, meaning that even newborn babies would be getting a $1,000 check too.

They are still negotiating this Tasha. It is one of the top stories in the news as it is happening right now in the Senate. They hope to have an agreement today and vote on it by Monday.

BUT, it is not every American. Initially it was every adult gets $1000 and an extra $500 for each child (maybe capped at 2 children per family). The latest plan I head is $1200 per adult. Now they are fighting over restrictions. putting caps on income, like $75,000 or $100,000, which sounds reasonable to me, even though that could disqualify me depending on what year they use. (My 2019 under 75k, while my 2018 was very, very good for me and would disqualify me).

I also don't think people on Social security need to get this money as their financial income stream is not being effected. This is supposed to be about providing money for people who are losing their income. People on SS are going to keep getting their SS. But I haven't heard anyone even suggest that SS recipients be disqualified. But again, no matter what they decide, you will almost assuredly qualify Tasha.

Do you know how little social security provides? I couldn't survive on social security alone. It provides less than half my income. I'm fortunate to have a pension and a lot of investments most folks are not in this situation.

How much and who gets are all up in the air until the fat lady sings. The most common description I heard at this point is $1200 per adult, $500 per kid with phaseouts starting at $75,000. Even if you get $150,000 per year from other sources you'll still get something.

Social Security recipients will be eligible subject to other income limits. The rationale is that retirees may have jobs and may have lost assets in the stock market collapse.

The sticking point seems to be how much $$$ goes to businesses. Everyone seems to agree on checks for individuals.
