Thread: What Are You Doing During The Coronapocalypse?

  1. #1
I didn't leave home yesterday so wanted to get out for awhile today. Topped the car off with gas and ran it through the car wash. Stopped by Walmart and picked up a few things. Grabbed a couple of whoppers at Burger King for tonight. All the restaurants in Great Falls are closed but the fast good drive thru's are still open. Got online and bitched out a couple miscreants. I have to pull up Tucker Carlson now. I'll be watching Fox News for the next 3 hours.

The bar/casinos are closed so I don't get to spend any time there. Boring!!!

This is completing week 2 for me and I have already had more than enough. Last week I spend several days out on our boat and one day working on the boat. This week the weather hasn't been all that great and I didn't get to the boat. Instead I took a couple driving trips to places within a couple hours just to get out and see some things. Really just to get out as nothing is open. Today stayed home wasting life in from of the TV and online. Horrible!

In addition, I am a huge sports fan. I have my teams that I am a fan of, but I just like sports in general and watch a lot at home in the evenings, so I have none of that. This should be the first weekend of March Madness, one of my favorite times of the year. NBA and NHL should be winding down towards playoffs and Baseball opening day just around the corner, which every baseball fan, no matter how bad your team will be, is optimistic about in April. We have lost ALL that. And it doesn't look like anything is changing anytime soon.

My brother is a gamer and could play video games 24/7 for ever. I am not, so I am bored shitless. I have been watching a lot of movies, some old favorites that I haven't seen for a while, some that are new to me. Last night I watched St Vincent with Bill Murray, that I guess I wasn't interested in when it came out. It was a nice little movie. Pretty good acting by Bill Murray, I must say. he surprised me in that kind of a role.

addon: Oh, and I am eating too much sitting around home. Nothing else to do seems I am always grabbing something to eat.

mcap is going to be one pissed off mother fucker after seeing this thread!!

    Eating Whoppers???
Aren't you on a strict diet after your procedure?

    Anyways...

    Reading the Bible.
    Dog Walk.
Play some Games with Wife and Uncle.
Trying to figure out optimal shopping times as I hoard everything I can find.
Meeting up with people and buying their guns and ammo.
Uncle Smokes so bought 50 cartons of various cancer sticks.
Playing Civ 6, chess and other computer games.
Driving out to the desert to plink a little.
Panic Posting on VCT about the end of civilization as we know it.
    Cleaning the house.
    Eating too much.
Hoarding Soda, Pasta, Jared Pasta Sauce and Oatmeal.
Probably spent over 3000 dollars on food and supplies so far this week...
    Sleeping and etc etc.

I have basically been doing this "stay in place" since Atari came out in the early 80s so its nothing for me to stay in the house.
I really am an expert at staying in the house, playing games, watching tv for 16 hours and sleeping 8 to 10 hours... rinse and repeat.
Doesn't bother me at all and not bored.

You know damn well what I think of where this is posted so I won’t say it this time.

Watched a lot of documentaries, movies, tv series on amazon prime. Cooking my own meals for once. A few walks, but already feel myself gaining weight from not running around doing typical day to day things. I am bored out of my mind. Also has been a huge uptick in me scolding folks about posting threads in the wrong sub forums.

I've also been going thru th movie lists by year online looking for movies I always meant to see but never got around to it. I watch them on youtube. I've already binged watched the reality shows Duel Survivial, Naked & Afraid, Life Below Zero, Port Protecton, Gold Rush, Deadliest Catch, and shows like that.

I also play the 25-50- NL zone poker on Bovada and Ignition.

As I already stated a couple days ago on another thread... here it is 5 or some odd hours ago!

Not sure how creditable POLITICO is though.

    First National Emergency (Martial Law)
    Second Shut Down Cities/States
    Third Suspend the Constitution
Fourth Roll in the National Guard/Armed Forces...
    etc etc.

DOJ WANTS TO SUSPEND THE CONSTITUTION

I'm pretty sure they'll try to sell it in a similar way they tried to sell the Patriot Act (if it passes) - "don't worry, it will be repealed after the crisis is over" (or words to that effect)

With the heart healthy diet you can eat hamburger meat within reason. But I don't buy the fries. No bacon or sausage. Another thing I have to watch with processed meats is salt. You wouldn't believe how loaded bacon or hot dogs are with salt. I have to keep salt to 3 grams a day. Can goods can be bad for salt to. A can of chili has about 40% of daily value for salt. Big pain in the ass looking for stuff with no salt.

I've been planning a move to Missoula. The caronapocalypse has put that on hold. But when I get the move done I think I'm going to go with Walmart Online and Amazon to buy groceries and have them delivered.

Count this among things I've learned and am reminded of while living with someone: my tolerance for beans is not what it was when I was 30. I bought a bunch of different kinds of canned beans. I used to eat beans all the time. Whoa Nellie. Tried some chipotle beans to start. Bad night -- cats probably thought incoming howitzers. Need to seriously limit my bean and whole milk intake. Or move onto the roof.

Do you have Smith's near you Mickey? Looks like they are in Montana but not sure if they are near you. They have a good 2 hour delivery service costs $9.95 and waived if you are disabled which I don't know if you qualify. Because under normal circumstances my brother and I both eat out several times a day, we don't normally keep a lot of food in the house, so 2 weeks ago when I saw what was coming I placed a rather large order and it arrived 90 minutes later and everything was perfect except one item they had substituted brand, which was fine. Probably not running as smoothly now that we are into this crisis.

Tennessee is probably not comparable with other states at this point, as both the bureaucracy and man in the street are in denial and about a week behind the rest of the country. But, for what it's worth,

Kroger delivers and has pickup -- currently about a 48-hour wait.
    Wal-Mart has pick-up.
    Sam's Club has pick up.

Recommendation is to wipe down the delivered food, as one has to assume that in a week or two, infection rates in some locations will be 50%. Best to just assume whoever packed and delivered your order is a carrier.

If you go to grocery stores, maybe take your own big reusable bags. Saves you the handling of carts and bags in the store. Clean the bags after you get home.

My grocery store just recently switched within last week or so to not allowing people to bring their own bags from home. One could argue these recent posts should be in a new thread in the “money, real estate, investing, shopping” subforum.

Went to our regular church meetings-via ZOOM! How wonderful to have technology and actually hear and SEE friends and keep up with each other. Weather has been horrible, so I did my daily walks through 5 of the major grocery chains, as I prepared 2 weeks ago and watched others greedily grabbing much more than needed. I actually did buy a loaf of bread and some bottled water. Saw puzzled looks as I only bought ONE bottled water package. Will do yard landscaping IF rain ever quits.

Yep, we have a Smith's here. There's one in Missoula too.

You are in a little trouble with canned beans and your Large Intestine ... no doubt.
At least with dry beans you can do a few things to get the sugar (Oligosaccharide) out.
You probably already know this but with beans you should try to go slow.
Just eat a few tablespoons daily to build up a tolerance.
My wife was pissed last year when I bought bags and bags of lentils, black and garbanzo beans.
I tried to explain to her that they last for years and I like Hummus.
She isn't so mad right now but you can see she isn't built for "stay at home" or quarantine... she's a worker bee.

I guess if you have Jesus in your heart you aren't immune.
All Churches have shut down to public meetings lol.
Please use PayPal to make your weekly donation!!
Meanwhile Jesus and the Disciples are hanging out with lepers.
    Actually healing them.
Paul (Saul of Tarsus) is getting bit by Vipers with no problems.
They all refuse to stop preaching the gospel and suffer horrible executions...
    Ye of Little Faith!!

    Matthew 10:28

But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Strange you should mention that. Our lesson was Hebrews the 11th chapter-and at the end of the chapter-and our lesson- was a list of those who didn't fare so well for their faith. In the middle of the lesson, we learned that Job asked the most "why's" of any book in scripture. That s, until God turned the tables and asked Job all the questions. The point being, no one knows His purose-faith is not so easy!

Mickey, what about impossible whoppers? We tried them last month and I thought I was eating a real burger.

Nobody should be just sitting around during this gaining weight. Sure it's tough and boring to not be able to do basically anything. But this especially is when you pump it up a little more than you normally do. You can exercise in your homes and go for walks. We take our dog out twice a day for at least a mile. Do things like this and not only will your body feel great--your mind will too. And that is the key.

Beans are one of the more powerfully good foods we can consume. I made a crockpot full of bean-heavy chili two weeks ago. It may be bombs-away but they're worth it.

With all the food people are consuming I get the toilet paper hording but what's up with the bottled water? Kitchen sink not working? Remember when we were kids and water was free?
Take off that stupid mask you big baby.

    I do.
I lived in PA and the water was cold and tasted good to me.
Of course the entire world allowed our water supply to be contaminated and they decided dumping fluoride in city water was a good idea.
Not to mention what Du Pont does and Fracking... etc etc.
Most likely bottled water is just filtered tap water or worse yet not even filtered lol.

The world wasn't really meant to have Mega Cities and Monoculture Farming.
Like I said before... we had a really good run!
70 some odd years without a World War and in America we lived the good life for a good 60 years or so.
It's just time to pay up that's all.
