That was quick. The United States popped to the top of the charts in number of confirmed cases. I think China's numbers were seriously fudged, but we'll leave their un-fudged numbers in the dust soon, anyway.

    What a disorganized mess.

60% of Americans say Trump is doing a good job with the virus. Of course, you know that you are right and 60% of Americans are wrong. That's the liberal way.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

Just out of curiosity who conducted THAT poll? I see 3 legit recent polls on the topic, 1 by Reuters yesterday 49% approve of Trumps handling and 44 disapprove, a second one yesterday by Economist that was 48-46, and one by Fox News released today that was 51 approve and 46 disapprove of his handling of Coronavirus. All 3 slightly more approval, but only one even a majority. So who did this 60% poll you speak of. I am guessing some Trump friendly biased group or website.

Now let me say that personally, I don't think Trumps handling has been great, but I think he is doing the best he can. He was late to take it seriously and that is not debatable. Back in February he said we had 15 cases and would be down to zero in a few days. I think he was optimisticly hoping for the best as he doesn't seem to be a guy that puts much stock in science. I give him a bit of a pass though because like he keeps saying, "nothing like this has ever happened before". Actually it has, but not in 100 years.

As I said earlier in the week, I don't think we should have shut down the government, country, economy and our way of life. I think you make people aware, and encourage them to take precautions, which would include social distancing, washing hands, and for the most vulnerable, older people and people with health issues and compromised immunity systems, maybe they decide to self isolate until the pandemic passes or there is a cure/vaccine.

add on: and as for the numbers themselves, US is far bigger than any other country with significant data except china and you throw their numbers out because they can't be trusted. So we are far bigger and have done more testing, so year, we are going to have far more confirmed cases.

But once the scientists and medical people got Trumps ear and probably scared him, he decided to shut down. And once he made that decision, you stick with it and give it a chance to work. You don't change course a few days later when the financial people manage to get your ear and convince you otherwise. But that is always a thing with Trump. Very often one of the last people to get his ear, makes the bigger impression on him. But again, I don't think he is intentionally trying to do a bad job or harm anyone. It may work out that way, but I think he is doing the best he can.

Add on: and as for the numbers themselves, the U.S. is bigger than anyone else, except china, who you can't believe their numbers. We are bigger and have done more testing, so yeah, we are going to have more confirmed cases and probably more deaths.

    Nope. It was Gallup.

Oh, my! That means that 2 one-hundreths of 1% of Americans are infected. That's horrible. What are we going to do? It's a disorganized mess.

I apologize, mickey. Let me rephrase this. What a disorganized mess, and 60% of Americans think Trump is doing a good job.

Sounds like redietz has way too much time on his hands.

FYI, the CDC estimates that there have been 23,000 - 59,000 flu deaths since 10/1, so how come redietz isn't whining about that??

This will surpass the lower figure in six weeks, not six months. Unless there is a nationwide lockdown, it will surpass the upper figure, and likely by a wide margin.

Only in the world according to redietz do flu deaths suddenly stop and wait around for Coronavirus deaths to catch up.

    Do you really handicap sports?

Only in the world of Trump could such strange, eccentric persons become bedfellows. Don't you miss the days that Singer and Crimm went at it. Lol.

There is enough blame to go around. I just don't like those that bash only Trump when there is plenty of blame with democrats too. In February when they had all those Chinese festivals in New York, and lots of people were staying away, state officials including State Senator John Lieu told New Yorkers to come on down to the festivals, to not worry about the virus, to carry on as normal. And as late as March 11, Bill DeBlasio was saying the same thing to New Yorkers. That's why New York is the hot bed of coronavirus. But all libs want to do is bash Trump.

Your first sentence was right, there is blame to go around. The 2 trillion dollar relief bill is a perfect example. I saw you point out the Dems trying to get some of their pet agenda in and that was despicable. But the Repubs did the exact same thing and not a peep out of you guys. Politicians are politicians! That's what they do. You would have hoped if ever there was a time to set that aside and just focus on the country, this would have been it, but no....BOTH sides played politics right up until the end and almost had to be forced to do the right thing.

Trump may take credit for every decision but he doesn't make these decisions by himself.
It's like everyone forgot how government works since Trump was elected.
Corporations have all of the power in reality.
Don't forget... the Casino Doors are Closed but their Hearts are Open lol lol lol.
As usual it is every Man, Woman and Child for themselves... nothing has changed.

I haven't seen anything on Republicans trying to get pork in the bill. Got a link? I'm not beyond agreeing with Dems. Like Sisolak. At first I was against his banning of hydroxychloroquine. I found out it was still okay to use in hospitals and his move was to protect the supply from hoarding by doctors for themselves, family and friends which was causing shortages. I even posted up online that I agreed with Sisolak.

Do you remember H1N1? It hit in April, 2009. Infected 60 million Americans. 17,000 died. Obama didn't declare an emergency until October after 1100 people died. He never put on a travel ban. He didn't shut down the economy. He received great praise from the media for his handling of the virus. The truth is Obama didn't deserve any praise at all.

To put things in proper mathematical context, the current U.S. death projection for this is 80,000 if current restrictions are tightened up.

I think you better take a look at the new models.
