Thread: Clark County closing non essential businesses

  1. #1
Looks like they are targeting liquor stores along with a few others including a shoe store and car wash. The liquor doesn’t seem to be an issue since Grocery Stores and C-Stores offer liquor. Shows the absurdity of many of these orders when it comes to essential and non essential.

While I am in favor of doing everything possible to continue business as normal while protecting the highest at risk, I still cannot see why a Starbucks is “essential”.

Only time will tell what did more damage, the virus or the fear of it. Wish the 3 dead in last nights Murder/Suicide in Vegas could tell us their opinion.

What...you mean Mr. Lee's Discount Liquor stores (like a thousand or so it seems) has to close?

    Probably "essential" for some folks.

Lee actually closed his places once the order came down. I follow him on Facebook so I did see that. I guess the few chips and beef jerky he sells weren’t enough to be considered essential. But as I said in another post, the venerable Stage Door is open with plenty of liquor for sale, along with TP they say.

In PA here liquor is still controlled and sold at State Stores as you probably know. And they closed early during this so only beer and some wine is available. We now have advocates claiming a lack of liquor is dangerous for true alcoholics so the Governor is looking at options for opening some of them on a limited basis.

Goes back to what is essential and what isn’t.

I can see this point from a medical perspective, but I also see a very contradictory issue. People are stressed! They are upset, not thinking clearly, on edge, probably not getting enough sleep from worry. Not making rational decisions. Tempers flare over tiny insignificant things. The last thing you want to add to that mix is liquor. We don't need people with nothing to do sitting home all day getting "juiced up" and then killing one another over some stupid very insignificant issue.

Liquor will likely do nothing but add to police calls and hospital visits. It is very true though that very legitimate alcoholics can die with withdrawal. It is a medical condition. It is different in Vegas, given how alcohol is sold everywhere. Not sure why you even bother shutting down the liquor stores, so everyone has to go to Walgreens? Whats that accomplish?

Starbucks being essential is a slap in the face but caffeine withdrawal is also a legitimate thing. Any medical person working with an existing caffeine addiction would not find this the right time to stop, but there are also coffee machines all over the place. (Including any non-shit hotel/motel)

    2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Alcohol withdrawal is serious business It's the only addiction that kills on stopping cold turkey. Heroin withdrawal is nothing in comparison and that's saying a lot.
Take off that stupid mask you big baby.
