SEPTA changed the rule requiring masks late yesterday after the video hit the news.

The customer was not charged with anything. While not a litigious person, I hope he sues the City of Philadelphia.

Rob started a thread with the exact same title as another thread on the front page of the same subforum. Not even Biden is that much of a senile old fool.

Boz, I was told of some preliminary data regarding penetration in California. I was hoping it was high. It was shockingly low. It was so low, I'm just hoping it was wrong. It was stunning.

If that data is anywhere near close, you will hear people start discussing dealing with COVID-19 in terms of years, not months or weeks.

Red, you're always looking for the bad stuff. Do you ever find any good news. Or do you even try? Or is good news not good for the revolution, eh, comrade?

Actually we already have “people” discussing life can’t get back to normal for 12-18 months. Note the following about Zeke Emanuel who was on MSNBC making the prediction.

Brothers of Rahm Enamual, Mayor of Chicago, noted Obama team member, far left loon
    Member of Team Obamacare
Senior fellow at The Center for American Progress, a far left (lack of) think tank.
Credited with the creation of “Death Panels” in regards to Health Insurance

Is it any wonder why reasonable Americans feel this is being used by the Democrats for political gain? Add in MSNBC pushing the theory and even if the story had any validity, half the country already discredited it.

The one thing Emanuel doesn't have in his equation is the mindset of the American people. We are just not going to go along with this shutdown much longer. More people are getting pissed by the day. The streets will fill up with people telling the government to go fuck itself.

My brother got sick over a week ago and yesterday was the first day he is beginning to feel a little better and he is in his late 20's. No trouble breathing, but tightness in his chest, very achy, headache, and temp over 100 most of the week

I am in my 30's and have not felt well since Wednesday, but my symptoms have been much milder, temp in the low 99 degree range, a little tightness in my chest, very achy in my arms only and the weirdest one, extreme fatigue. Yesterday, I woke up at 9am, ate some oatmeal and settled into my recliner to watch TV and just couldn't stay awake. Finally at 1pm, I got up and went back to bed for 5 hours. In the evening I again dosed off and on watching TV, until I finally got online for a couple hours. All told, I was awake probably 3 hours yesterday. Today, I already am feeling more energy than yesterday, as I have been up for a couple hours.

Once we both feel completely over this, I want to get the antibody test to confirm and then we'll be good to go. Hopefully the casinos will open and I can get back to my normal life.
KewlJ, I am glad that you and your brother are getting better. All good news though I don't think you realize the unique situation that would have presented itself if things turned for the worse for you and that you passed away. First, you are recognized throughout the gaming community on various forums and it would be a real big deal. The uniqueness that I am talking about is that your passing would have happened while the casinos are all closed. I am sure that the community has some influential members who very possibly could have negotiated a deal, say with the Sweaty Spaniard for a few hours to conduct a brief service or remembrance. Pallbearers could have put your coffin balanced on two adjacent blackjack tables. Which represented a meaning that everyone present would have known what it was. That they were honoring a player who was noted for counting multiple tables, all the way to the twilight zone fame.

Rule number one of gambling: Never believe what you prefer to believe. Keeps you cynical. Keeps you solvent. Keeps you safe.

And, if you'll check today's reports, you'll see that what I said in the post above has come to pass.

I'm not a cheerleader (don't like the skirts). I'm not pretending to "prevent a panic" as if others are children. I go on the premise that most Americans both deserve and can handle the truth.

P.S. I know, bummer. Dietz was about 48 hours ahead of news cycles...again. Evidently correct...again. Apparently plugged into reality...again.

Let it go BoSox. No good can come from you hanging on to whatever bug is up your ass.

Take care of yourself and be safe. I want it to be a good long while before I start getting those updates from Hell.

First off, Rob, I don't hate Trump, so don't try to claim that I'm attempting to make him look bad or anything like that.

This differs greatly from the flu. Let me count the ways:

    1) The flu is very predictable as to who it kills. If you're not very young, very old, or already sick, you are unlikely to die from the flu. By contrast, COVID-19, while also mainly going after the old and already sick, also kills healthy people 45 and older, and occasionally younger people than that. Someone my age who is healthy almost never dies from the flu. COVID-19 is a legitimate threat.

    2) COVID-19 spreads more easily than the flu.

    3) There is a vaccine for the flu. There is no COVID-19 vaccine.

    4) Most people not in the high-risk groups for the flu experience mild symptoms. Some fever, headaches, some fatigue, some coughing, and some body aches. Not pleasant, but it's rarely a terrible, super-memorable experience. Those with COVID-19 have described it as "the sickest I've ever been", "torture", "hell", and many have said they felt like they were going to die. I'm talking about people who WEREN'T hospitalized! If you're over 45 and catch COVID-19, you are likely to have a hellacious experience.

    5) COVID-19 is sending a lot more people onto ventilators, due to breathing issues. The ventilators themselves cause all kinds of psychological problems which many people never recover. The flu does not typically bring on the degree of breathing problems that COVID-19 does.

You should be concerned, Rob. You're in a high risk age group. I am in a medium-risk group (I'm 48), and I'm still scared of it, because not many people my age (or older) catch it and escape with only mild symptoms.
First off, Trump already looks exemplary throughout this and it's translating into a certain landslide victory in Nov. They'll need a body bag for old Joe because of senile shock and hopefully one for Hillary too.

You missed the point about the flu. Far more get it EVEN THOUGH THERE'S A VACCINE. THE ONLY REASON THIS VIRUS HAS A SLIGHTLY HIGHER DEATH RATE ACROSS ALL AGE GROUPS IS BECAUSE IT HAS NO VACCINE YET. Simple common sense.

Yes, I would worry a little more IF I HAD ANY PRE-EXISTING ILLNESSES OR DISEASES. I believe you have several issues that weakened your immune system, so I'd be a bit more concerned if I were you. Anybody can get this thing if they're not careful. But most people don't know how to train themselves to use hand protection at gas stations, disinfect their hotel rooms and rental cars, use wipes on the handles of grocery carts, use hand sanitizer after touching restaurant menus and ketchup/salt & pepper, hot sauce etc., clean casino machines beforeplaying them, clean around the rims of glasses you get your drinks in when dining out down at least an inch all around inside and out if straws that you open aren't available, wipe off your silverware at restaurants, refuse food if you see an employee sneeze or cough above it then leave, use a towel or some tp to open restroom doors, etc. etc. etc. I've done all the above for over 20 years. Probably a good reason why I don't ever get any kind of sick. So I'm well prepared for the coming new world order.

I feel it necessary to point out the mathematical and logical errors in the above post. First, there is the subjective nature of the phrase "slightly higher death rate across all age groups" in the post above. This virus has been recognized by virtually all leading epidemiologists, including those on the president's team, as having somewhere between eight and 12 times the death rate of common varieties of flu. Now if you consider that "slightly higher," I will not argue with your subjective interpretation of the phrase.

Second, attributing this (roughly) 10 times the death rate to "it has no vaccine yet" is an interesting proclamation. Let's examine it. Logically, if this is true, then keeping social distancing in place for 12-18 months is a great idea because once a vaccine exists, the problem is solved.

Next, the poster above is arguing that, if no vaccine for common flu were available, death rates would be similar to COVID-19.

A closer examination of the language attached to non-coronavirus flu shots, however, suggests that they really are not on a preventative level with, say, measles or chicken pox vaccines. The normal flu shot language doesn't say that it prevents flu entirely, but that it reduces severity of flu in 60% of people. Well, that is not exactly confidence inspiring. In addition, a couple of years ago, from 2017-18, flu vaccines "reduced illness caused by H3N2 by only 25%." That comes from the CDC.

Thus, flu vaccines for the last few years have had limited effects on fatalities due to common flu, especially with certain strains.

You've already been proven by several others to be wrong to very wrong on the majority of your assertions and presumptions, so save your weird style for more soliciting of people.

I wonder if the cops will be laying out the social distancing tire spike strips. Under orders from their tyrannical master, of course.

I said a week ago that people are starting to get ansty. This gathering in Michigan is just the start of it. The people just ain't going to tolerate their rights being trampled on for much longer. If the shutdown is not lifted soon there will be riots across the country.

    Nobody to blame but ourselves.
Electing the Squad, Whitmer, Harvey Milk, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and many similar types to govern has cost us.
It is apparent that the two parties or ideologies can not co-exist anymore or be bi-partisan.
Conservatism has basically lost the battle as the Liberals have taken over the country.
It is the price we paid for the easy life of 24 Hour Entertainment and Microwaves.
