I belong to both LVAC and 24 Hour Fitness.
I just got this email from LVAC.
I expect something soon from 24 hr Fitness.
I sent them an email saying simply... lol.
These Evil Empires have gouged the public for decades.
Now they panhandle in the street lol lol lol.

Fuck these Evil Empires that want Tax Payer Bailouts because they have either...
1. Overleveraged their position or
2. They just want to capitalize on the economic situation.
(If they get Free Money I want my yearly dues discounted)

I'm hoping this whole world burns down

I honestly thought that this was going to be about the everyday people in Las Vegas who were actively Employed now being reduced to begging on the street due to temporarily not having jobs anymore. It would have made a lot of sense considering that most businesses have been closed for over two weeks now. If your business is closed, you aren't getting a paycheck since you haven't worked in two weeks... Sad. I expect the number of once okay people now being reduced to panhandling on the street to make ends meet will become really high...

Multiple points on this. A 25% discount straight up with no gain in volume is a loss in normal times. Chain Restaurants work on small margins of less than 10% of sales, if all goes right. So they are losing money if the customer was going to come in and order the product anyways.

But since food costs alone are around 35%, they are making money on the sale if it is incremental because of the promotion. They also are looking for full price customers to now purchase as a show of support for a company “helping” in a time of need.

You also have to consider overall volume is down because of no dine in customers along with no beverage sales. It is a tough time for restaurants and many are trying to stay in business and keep employees working.

Overall this offer isn’t exploitation in my mind and certainly isn’t looking for a handout.
