Thread: Will the Las Vegas Strip Open Soon

  1. #121
Nevada casinos won't open soon because their governor is an a-hole. He'll ride the "lets try and ruin Trump's chances" train until the casino moguls start threatening to work to not get him re-elected.

Here in Vegas the talk is limiting number of people in a casino at any time, with a waiting line outside, similar to a nightclub. Windcreek Bethlehem, PA (formerly Sands), sent me an email with this update stating they will be using a reservation system to enter the casino, to limit number of patrons. Who would have ever thought you would have to make an appointment to play some slots.

100% correct, it’s almost all political at this point. As it becomes more and more obvious the risk was overhyped, destroying the economy is all the liberals have left.

Any see the senile Biden yesterday have to be corrected twice from saying there are 600,000 dead in the United States? And said intercourse again on what Trump failed to doin his mind.

Even liberals know they can’t afford to allow this clown to debate Trump 1 on 1.

The Governor in Nevada will ruin his state and is showing he doesn’t give a fuck about it’s workers.

Over half the customers there are from NY so denying entry to anyone without a PA ID would solve that issue.

I think BaccMaster visits there a lot, or has 236 players cards from there someone “working” for him uses.

From everything I've seen I gotta believe Biden will NEVER be the dem candidate in Nov. Did you see him sweat when he was asked if he remembered who Tara Reade was?

Hillary's licking her chops again. She just can't wait to be made a fool of by Trump again.

Used to be way more than half. Used to be like 100 busloads of New Yorkers a day, especially the Chinese. Last few times I have been on the east coast and visited Windcreek, I have noticed a definite decrease in those busload and the Chinese. As a matter of fact my last few visits the place has been empty of almost anyone. I am not sure they have to worry about doing anything to keep the number of people down. I think they already took care of that when they bought the casino and worsened playing conditions, pay tables and mail offers.

Correct, used to be many more until they cracked down on the bus scams around 2014. They were getting off the NY buses and never entering the casino. Instead they were loaded onto private buses to local towns that offered casino trips. So they would then ride back to Sands and get more FP and food vouchers. Some would do it multiple times a day and make OK money and free meals. Not bad for the homeless, a meal, some cash and a nice bus ride.

Yeah, not sure that would work. It not the seats that would be in demand it is the place to get into the casino. Maybe you could sell your place or reservation to someone in line?

Also wondering how that reservation thing works as far as timeline. If you reserve a time in the casino, lets say 2-3pm, does someone come over to you at 3pm and kick you out? weird times!

Probably wouldn't justify the wait time, unless certain places give priority to high tier players which some will do. KJ beat me to it by seconds.

Oh wow. There was some of that kind of thing going on from Philly to AC when I first started out playing AC in 2004. I think this time period was the tail end of even bigger bus/bonus stuff. Some of the bonus money paid just enough that you could make a few bucks and the homeless people were just traveling back and forth, 2-3 trips a day making 8-10 bucks and having a place to sleep for a few hours. Made for a rather unpleasant trip. I was just trying to get to AC several times a week as inexpensively as I could because I was on a shoe-string budget/BR.

As soon as I started making a little but of money, this was one of the first things I upgraded, my transportation, taking the train, which was a much nicer experience.

So let's steer this back to the casinos opening. Here in Nevada I have been thinking by Memorial day weekend for a while now. I mean Nevada really has few cases and deaths compared to most other places and it is 100 degrees here, so if summer heat helps kill the virus, we benefit from that.

Now was it last week or the week before that Gov Sisolak laid out his re-opening plan for Nevada and casinos were in phase 3 or 4, making for a late June timeline. Since then he has gotten a lot of pushback from casinos and businesses that need the casinos open to survive. Someone at WoV, wrote that Sisolak has now given that decision to the Nevada gaming commission, charging them with coming up with a reasonable opening plan. This way Sisolak doesn't have to be the bad guy keeping things closed and if it all goes bad, doesn't have to take responsibility. I personally am not aware that he did this. I haven't seen it reported anywhere.

But the gaming commission has come up with a reopening plan that would have the casinos open at 50% capacity, machines spread out and only every other one in use, 2 people to a table.

What I do know is the casinos have said they need a couple weeks to prepare, that they can't just open on a moments notice. Well that couple weeks is now coming up against my Memorial day timeline. As I write this Memorial day weekend starts two weeks from tomorrow. So if they are going to make that, something has to start rolling in the next day or two. Memorial day is the kid of weekend that most of the business is California traffic that drives to Vegas. So we wouldn't need airplanes full of people, which my guess is people aren't ready for that. We would just need Californian's bored at staying home, to pile into their cars with the extra stimulus money and head to Vegas.

So we will see. My guess is if they don't make Memorial day then it probably lasts well into June.

Update: Gov Sisolak says first phase of businesses will open by May 15th. He has a news conference later today to explain, so we will see if Casinos have been moved up from his initial declaration of Phase 3 or 4.

I’m hoping he does. I’d like to take a trip to Tahoe maybe in June.
How goes it with your antibodies test? You could be carrying the golden ticket.

It didn't go great. I tested negative for antibodies. My brother tested positive for antibodies, meaning he had the virus, is fully recovered and may have some immunity for a period of time.

Since I tested positive for the virus, there is no question that I had it. And believe me, I know I had it. So the only issue is that I haven't developed antibodies yet. I was still having some lingering symptoms as late as the middle of last week and you are supposed to be symptom free for at least 10 days before getting the antibody test to make sure your body has had time to start making antibodies. So I guess I rushed the test a bit. I will retest next week. But I am feeling great, fully recovered, so all is good. I would like that confirmation though that I may have some immunity although they don't even know that for sure.

Once you have the antibodies like your bro, do you get some kind of “show me your papers” confirmation?

We viewed our test results online through the Quest website, but I guess I could print it out if need be. I think that "show your papers" stuff is just baloney. I can't see the USA being a country where you have to show your papers (especially proving immunity). And again there is no guarantee that antibodies even provide immunity. They do with most viruses at least for some period, but there is no proof yet with this one.

These "tests" are such a false sense of security but if it makes you feel better I guess ignorance is bliss.

Where did Sisolak say that mickey? Not doubting you but would like to read it. His new conference starts in 10 minutes, he will probably talk about it.

I wonder if incoming people can quarantine at a casino and play on the floor during quarantine.
