Mickey are you intentionally being misleading or failing to understand what occurred and what the options are? I hope it is the latter. We don't need another person intentionally misleading and twisting the facts.

Back in early March the model that is being used by Trump and the government showed 2 choices.

1.) we do nothing and 2.2 million people die.

2.) we shutdown and 60,000 to $100,000 people die. (the number was initially 100k and later revised to 60k)

So the decision (right or wrong) was to shut down. And having done so, the death rate slowed and it looks like it will come in right were projected between 60k and 100k, if we stay the course.

What you are doing is saying "see the model was wrong. It said 2.2 million deaths and we are only going to have 60-100k" The models were not wrong...they have been spot on. 2.2 million deaths if we did nothing! 60-100k if we shutdown.

Now it is more that fair to argue that we should not have shut down. That was my initial argument. You can say 2.2 million death is for lack of a better term "acceptable losses". But you can't take the reduced losses from shutting down and say that is why we shouldn't have shut down.

If you'll note, kewlj, mickey didn't quote me as having said that because he couldn't find anywhere where I actually said it. He has repeated this several times, but it was THE PRESIDENT who used the 2.2 million figure, not me.

Mickey been doing this kind of stuff for awhile now.
What about the more than 10 million cases predicted, redietz? Are you saying you didn't say that?

And you have made absolutely no comment here on the correct math of the situation, all deaths considered in the time frame of the shutdown, not just the coronavirus deaths. Why are you hiding from that? The 2.2 million is the only thing in my post you have disputed. That says a lot.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

On the 10 Million cases in the United States, I wouldn’t be shocked we passed that already IF we tested everyone. Assuming the heavy population areas are underreported by 20-50 times actual, it’s easy to see we could be there already.

Unfortunately that doesn’t help their death rates, so we probably won’t hear anything about this possibility. And certainly not from Red.

This may very well be. And THAT would be very welcome news. Unfortunately, we can only know that with testing which so far isn't adequate or readily available. The antibody test that shows if someone had the virus and is now immune and so far just like the diagnostic test, the roll out is very slow and inefficient.

Feeling better now, I called my doctor this morning inquiring as to how and where I could get an antibody test. He directed my to a medical group in Henderson saying they were the only place in Las Vegas that he knew of that has received the test. So I called the medical group, Anthem Medical, and they were only scheduling tests for their patients, of which I am not one.

So I called my Doc back and informed him of that and he asked why I wanted an antibody test? I told him to confirm that I was recovered from the virus and had the antibodies that hopefully offered some immunity. He said well if you are recovered then you have the antibodies. Not exactly the scientific approach I was expecting from a doctor.

I also have read one of the ways they might open up is to have people that have recovered and have the antibodies to have a certificate or some sort of documentation stating that. Shades of Nazi Germany, where you have to show your papers. I guess I am supposed to say that my doctor says "I have recovered, so I have the antibodies". I am guessing that won't fly.

The 60K is undoubtedly a significant undercount. It'll be easy to figure it out when we're clear of this. You take the normal death tolls for the previous four or five years, and then look at the spike, and the sleeper deaths due to COVID-19 will be evident. If any particular location has an established, consistent mortality going back several years, and almost all do, then the differences this year will be due to the virus.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Holy hell.

Jesus, mickey, the data is clear from other countries that the death toll "official count thus far" is a significant undercount. I'll dig up some links. There was an article about a week ago, and another one this week about how the international counts have spiked well beyond what is attributed officially to the virus. This stuff is done by medical demographers all the time; it's not new. Coroners usually have a sense of it, but the medical demographers will have it pinned down when this finished.

The Economist is not exactly a lefty publication, by the way.
Comrade, great of you to tow the party line. The revolution needs you.

How did I already know you would poo poo averaging in lives saved from other causes because of the coronavirus shutdown? Well, RED, as in Commie Red, you sure like to post up links to articles that back up your narrative. Unfortunately, anyone can go online and cherry pick articles that back those claims. Now let's see. Weren't you putting up links to those sites you used for your wildly innaccurate early claims on coronavirus.

Official undercount? Fuck you! I'm tired of that libtard bullshit. Stick your undercount up your ass.

You know KJ, you think we are on “teams” here, but I don’t see that in every case. This is the 2nd post recently we mostly agreed upon. Hell I complimented Coach the other day and he cane right back at me. You are not stuck in your opinion no matter what unlike some on here. And I truly am glad you are finally feeling better and hopefully your brother is as well.

I believe your doctor is working off the best available information. But it probably doesn’t mean shit if a new strain comes in the fall. Again just speculation. But I’m of the belief many more than reported had it. If that’s an immunity for now, it’s incredible. Quest is now offering a $119 Antibodies test. We will probably get it for piece of mind unless a better option comes along. It’s a mail in test and I put a call into my doctor, awaiting a call back for when I return from a trip I am on. But it’s for us and certainly not for any certification or whatever they think they want to try.

As you know and can see I never was fearful of the CV, believe I had it and stayed away from everyone for 2 weeks after the symptoms. I’m a lunatic at times, but would never knowingly put anyone at risk. And it was 2 1/2 of the worst weeks of boredom in my life. And I never thought I was going to die, but if it was my time so be it. I look at life that way, tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. I worked too hard and missed too much for too many years to let this stop me.

And back to the bashing, it goes both ways. Red is calling Mickey a Whack Job, I’m calling Red a Fucking Moron and life goes on. Goes with the territory, we are all here by choice. At the end of the day we all go back to our lives and if this shit bothers anyone, you (Not you or anyone in particular) probably shouldn’t come here.

Frackville? Is that a try at Doxxing me? Not even close but I do believe Red mentioned that town one time and I said I knew of it. It’s off 81 on my way North at times.

Again, no reason to even reply to you but it was an AIRPORT beer early this morning. And I had 2 $12 Sierra Nevada’s because I could and the options were limited. And I sure as hell enjoyed them because it was the closest to a beer in freedom I had in 6 weeks. I don’t drink at home, lost 13 pounds during this and missed a public beer.

And the answer to your last question, THIS grown man.

Always looking for a fight or argument Coach. As I say about others, Sad and Pathetic. But not unexpected.

I do not have big hands, BUT they are f****** hands of Steel, I will tell you that. I'll match them up against anybody just how much of a beating that they can take and just how powerful they are(obviously within reason, I'm not going to be a complete dumb ass idiot). I'm getting older and don't have much weight due to some stomach problems, so, I'm not much into fighting anymore, but if I land a punch, it's going to count.

I'll challenge anyone to a game of Mercy no matter how big, young and strong they are. I brought some pretty big guys to their knees(no homo) during a game of Mercy. Even at an unfair Advantage when they can actually lift you off the ground. I have never lost a game of Mercy, some have ended in ties obviously. I can pound nails nails concrete with my fists(okay, that's over exaggerating a bit)

I do know my dick size is well above average.

My brother is completely recovered, back to his normal self, for whatever that is worth. He is very content spending his whole life sitting in the living room, playing video games online. I am not a video gamer and hate being inside. For the first few weeks, I was outside. The first week on our boat, but then the marina closed. After that I was outside very day at Red rock hiking (which became very crowded) and I think they may have closed some of that down. One day my brother and I took a long bike ride, from where I live near the strip, through Henderson, picked up a trail that went right by Railroad Pass Casino to Boulder City (Nevada, not Colorado). That was a beautiful day and ride.

Unfortunately the last 3 weeks I have been forced to stay home. Much of that time I wasn't up to going out and now that I am, it hasn't been 7 days yet and I don't want to put anyone else in danger, although truth be told, I did sneak out last night on an Ice cream run. I took the steps rather than the elevator so as not to be near anyone and coming home, used the freight elevator. At CVS I used the self pay so as not to interact with the cashier.

So you know what my biggest gripe with you is today Boz? It was that Sierra Nevada beer picture. You couldn't have thrown a Pa transfer a bone and posted a picture Yuengling Lager. God I miss that beer. There are places in Vegas to get Tastykakes and there is Pop's cheezesteaks over on Decatur and Alta (pop being a south philly guy), but not a drop of Yuengling to be found around these parts.

  11. #31
You won’t find a Yuengling Lager (legally) west of the Mississippi. They have the original brewery in Pottstown and the one in Tampa they bought from Bud. They purchased a 3rd in Memphis with goal of moving west but my understanding is the water didn’t match up right and they passed on the project. I find it hard to believe with today’s technology they couldn’t adapt the water but that’s the story for now.

Way before your time but it’s like in the early 80’s when we only heard the legends about Coors. It was the stuff you wanted but when you got it you were like OK, why is this so hyped. To me Yuengling Lager is the same way. In my area it’s a domestic priced the same as BL, Bud, Coors Light, Miller Lite, etc. But it has a loyal following and almost a cult following like Chik Fil A. In Florida it’s on at almost every bar now but years ago it was priced as a Premium beer, like a craft.

We recently went through that with Fat Tire from New Belgium. They were not available on the EC until they build a factory in North Carolina. It had legendary status and a high price point until everyone could get it. Funny story is they came into PA, underestimated the loyalty Yuengling Lager has and tried to take tap placements. Saying customers would pay a premium for it. Naturally it failed and they had to try and go after craft taps and later sold out to a big conglomerate after proudly saying they were employee owned.

Anyways, that’s a rant on beer. And you really don’t have a similar alternative in Vegas. I did see this killed Joseph James yesterday. I hope my friends at Teneya Creek and Lovelady (Sin City) make it through this but I do see a lot of craft breweries not making it. It was a bubble ready to burst before this with too much product for the demand.

As for the Tastykakes, Ugh. Since they sold out and moved production from Philadelphia, it’s not the same. The old fresh, never frozen product has been replaced with a product similar to Twinkies.

Yeah, I know....nothing stays the same. That's why you should always appreciate what you have today. In 10 years you will look back and say "these were the good old days".

I have edited this post because it is redundant - Boz already posted the availability of this test for anyone that wants to get it (I didn't read his post until after my unedited post).

Thanks Tableplay. I saw the story on the local news a couple hours ago and immediately went to the quest site. They have you fill out a questionnaire and I am not eligible for another week or so as you have to be 10 days post symptoms.

For the record, never applied for unemployment in my life. I think I got heating assistance a particularly bad winter or two in State College in my 20's. Maybe $300 or $400 worth of fuel each winter. That was about it. I think I got the stimulus check for $1200 last week. Not sure -- don't keep that close tabs on my personal checking.

Not only don't I make any money, I lost a fair amount. I had San Diego State at 50-1 and 60-1 as a one or two seed for the NCAA tourney. Had Maryland, a likely two, at 25-1. Had BYU at 750-1. All refunds. Had the unbeaten Houston team in the XFL at +390 and +450 to win the title. Refunds, which I haven't yet gotten from LV.
