Dumbest thing I ever heard. I never announced that I was gay on any forum. These forums are about gambling and advantage play for me, not what anyone's sexuality is or who they may share life with. It is only known that I am gay, because some homophobe type flat out asked me about 10 years ago on the first blackjack forum I was on. And while, I had no intention of announcing it, I also was long past running from it and trying to hide it, so I answered honestly.

In the interview I did at WoV, I was asked about it because my situation was pretty unique. At the time it was 3 gay guys, 2 advantage players and one poker player that thought or thinks he is a winning player, sharing a house in Las Vegas, all supporting themselves via the casinos. It made for kind of an unusual Las Vegas experience so I willingly answered Mission146's questions in the interview. And ever since then, that is what most attacks of me have been about. Not even about my blackjack or casino experiences, but about who I married and loved. So sad.

So just out of curiosity since you made these things your handle, are you gay (and loving it)?

I spent about 6 hours at Lake Mead and the surrounding area yesterday.
I guess a bunch of us actually broke the law as this area is technically closed.
They had a barrier but somebody must of moved it off to the side for vehicles to disregard the postings.
As I got close to the lake I seen about 6 or 7 Vehicles in this specific area.
Some kids and dogs were playing in the water so I guess they weren't worried about the Virus.
15 years ago I would actually drive a sports car down this treacherous hillside.
I guess I had a bit less fear or common sense.
In the last 20 years it is amazing to see how the water has risen or dropped and the landscape has drastically changed.
Those trees were not in the water like that 6 or so years ago.
I didn't bring the fishing gear because I had the dogs.
Also it is best to fish during the sunrise, sunset or through the night if going for catfish.
If your going for Stripers that's a different strategy all together.
For the most part I like to get to the lake an hour or so before sunset.
Fish through the night and early sunrise till feeding time is over.
Head home if not camping or boating.
I'm glad they opened the roadways back up to Lake Mead.

For BoSox and others who might enjoy such pictures.
Not much really to say as I pretty much said it in some other thread when challenged about camping.
BoSox seems to like to challenge me on Dispersed Camping for some reason.
    I don't mind.
I'd just rather have a desire to attack his posts but I don't.
I don't have any reason to attack him.
Seems good enough of a guy to me.
Anyways, I only took a couple pictures at about 3am on the morning I was going to head out back to the house.
I had packed almost everything up.
I didn't take any pictures during the daytime or the day before because I was trying to focus on enjoying the experience.
    Not documenting it.
Maybe I will document more of the next trip.
I have to go to the dentist this Tuesday but planning on camping out for 4 to 7 days after that.
Gonna try the Mr. Heater Buddy as the temps seem to go down to about 35 degrees F in that area.
I won't get the Wall Tent and the Wood Stove for another 8 weeks or so but anxious to keep trying and learning.
I plan to take out about 60 to 100 gallons of water.
40 gallons of Propane and a bunch of wood along with other items.
It might seem odd but having that ladder helps in more situations than I thought.
I need to buy a folding table though... don't have that just yet.

In the pictures you can't see much but you can see its the same Truck as always and gives you some idea of what I was doing.
Technically, I think I was in an illegal place to camp but never encountered any Rangers.
After setting up the first night I realized the next day that I put the tent in a bad spot.
It was very close to the rock wall which had rocks all over it and could of been dangerous if they fell.
Not saying they would but seems stupid to put the tent in that possible situation.
Probably having that fire in that spot wasn't such a great idea either.
If a strong wind came along it could of created sparks that could of landed on the tent.
    Live and Learn.

I only seen about 7 Trucks total pass by but I was a bit hidden from the maintained gravel/sand road.
Yes the 100 degree heat was a bitch but felt good to get away from everything even if only for about 40 hours.
I sort of had this feeling that nothing else existed while we were there.
This next time I will try to take a safer approach but I don't want to camp at a campground.
I can't handle that sort of thing.

Thanks Monet good start for you. Plus you recognizing possible mistakes that could be troublesome down the road. An interesting thing about that second picture that you took is that it is very deceiving when looking at it. To the observer, it actually looks like you were camping in a cave because of the second further background fire.

Freecampsites.net has locations and descriptions of a lot of BLM and national forest land where dispersed camping is legal. I’m sure it’s not all inclusive. Those forest service roads often rutted up/washboard etc or deep sand a concern in desert. This morning on the way out of Flagstaff to Grand Canyon I noticed at least a half dozen or so rv’s/campervans etc spaced out in the first half mile that I could see on a dirt National forest road off of highway 180 not a campground or anything, didn’t notice that during the week on that road although I could have just missed it.

Legal or not, I would not camp out on BLM land - those guys are violent and dangerous.

Lot of violence in the homeless world: call it "natural selection."

More than 20 years ago my ex and her then-husband were homeless and moved around the country by hopping on trains (they were FTRA).

She told me tales of violence, including witnessing some bum getting stabbed to death.

I guess life is cheap for those with nothing to lose.
    What, Me Worry?

    That's not a fire.
    That is a Coleman Lantern.
You just skim through my posts huh lol?
I'll take better pictures for you next time but pictures are not my concern in doing this.
I didn't plan on documenting this trip but you have inspired me to do so next time.
I'm not a big picture guy or cell phone person.
I don't fit in well to modern society because I'm not constantly staring at my phone.
Many times I just leave it at home anyways.
I miss the days of having to develop film.
The Kodak 110 was a damn good camera for the price.

Not sure if this was actually BLM Land.
    Could of been.
It was inside of Lake Mead though.
We have one of those Life Long Access Passes.
Personally, I am not worried about violence.
The whole point of me camping is to get into isolated areas where people do not go.
I realized on this trip I need to be a bit more careful about that as nobody knows where I am as I do not have a designated area.
No Cell Phone Service in these types of areas.
Main Roads are usually a mile or further away.
Not much of a problem if it was just me but having my uncle with me is a different story.
I refuse to camp at some campsite charging fees and that are crowded.
Just not my style or what I am looking for.
From my understanding, in the last few years, RVs have taken over many free, quiet spots.
They have loud generators that ruin it for people like me and I hear many of these spots are overrun and polluted.
I sort of know what I am doing but way out of practice.
It's a bit different now as my uncle is 30-35 years older compared to our PA days.

I've been over that site for a few months now.
Pretty decent for what it is.
I use it to find places and search for reviews.
I use it mainly to show me where not to go.

It's like you have never read any history books.
You were involved in a relationship with an ex-homeless divorcee???
How many times have you been married?

Ditto my friend. The humor of my original reply to MCAP was missed. BLM = Black Lives Matter in my sarcastically infected reply rather than Bureau of Land Management. LOL.

    That's Hilarious!
This is certainly a case where we can see things get lost in translation with reading versus hearing.
I am a bit in serious mode talking about dispersed camping.
BoSox deserves some credit for riling me up.
When I first read your post I was thinking he can't be serious about worrying about me and violence.
So I thought about it for a second and a movie scene came to my mind about the Desert and Vegas.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas of course during the Mint 400 and the Jeep Scene with Machine Gun Fire.
You can see it on this clip starting at around 3:10
I was thinking to myself... tableplay might have a point here and I might run into some hell bent militia group which certainly would have me outmanned and outgunned.
Thanks for the laugh though... still laughing actually.
Black Lives Matter Land is certainly somewhere I do want to stay away from.

    "We need TOTAL coverage!"

(I've pointed this clip out before but at 1:15 the guy has a Right to Left Heart Royal Flush that he has to muck because the race is starting lol lol lol.
The guy with all the chips says "shit" and throws his hand in immediately starting a chain reaction.
And it looks like a raked game with an actual dealer who has a name tag and Nevada under his name lol lol lol.
Nevada gonna rake every poker game in the state!
I'm guessing it has to be a satellite casino owned by the MINT.)

Very good movie. Down the adrenochrome rabbit hole for some who saw it I'd imagine and wanted to learn more . . .

He got me too with that Whoosh (over my head) Moment.
    Happens.
Ask BoSox... he thought my Coleman Lantern was a second camp fire.
I see no need for two camp fires with only two individuals camping.
The difference in light is dramatic with a Coleman Lantern though.
Especially if you can hang it above your area.
It also serves as a good bug zapper.
I must of killed over 100 Crane Flies with it.
Crane Flies look like mosquitoes and I never had one bother me but they love the lantern.
Also, it brings back very fond memories and is a necessity in my fishing/camping/hunting trips.
Love the Gas/White Gas Coleman Lanterns.
Wish I had a Kerosene one but don't trust Ebay that much.
