Having a heart attack, can change people for better or for worse.
God dammit, with all that traveling you could have fit Rob into your schedule for us. How did you avoid the Rona?
Nobody wants to go out of their way prove Rob right or wrong when there's nothing to gain.
Best/ worst case scenario, you prove him right and now you have egg on your face.
Best/ worst case scenario, you proved him wrong and he calls you a fool claiming you fell for his master troll plan then he cooked up all along. Or he claims he sold the RV hours before you got there because he got double what it was worth.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ
Dan Druff: "there's no question that MDawg has been an obnoxious braggart, and has rubbed a ton of people the wrong way. There's something missing from his stories. Either they're fabricated, grossly exaggerated, or largely incomplete".
That would include wanting to put your pee pee in vagina. Is that really what you want?
Sure I am, but I never proclaimed I was on the forums to talk about Blackjack and help educated people. Not trying to criticize you. I just assumed once your restraints were broken that you would fly away and not look back. This place seems much more unhealthy for you than others.
Really gross! You breeders.
This forum is unhealthy for ALL of us. It brings out the absolute worst in everyone. I realize of late, you have tried to take the high road and avoid getting down and dirty with anyone/everyone. And I applaud that. A forum should be no different than real life. You should talk and act as you would in real life and I don't think most here do. I don't know where the idea came from that people can just act like a total dick on forums because there is some degree of anonymity. That is pretty cowardice actually. Ultimately it is Dan Druff's fault here as he allowed/encouraged this behavior.
Ultimately on any forum, there is only so much blackjack talk and topics. I would like to steer more discussions towards not just blackjack, but gambling, AP and las Vegas related topics. I mean THAT is my life. That doesn't mean there won't be other unrelated topics and discussion, but I would like to steer back towards what WOV once was. Is that so horrible?
And I wouldn't characterize it that I want to help and educate players. But if discussions of my experiences benefit a few people, that is great. Isn't that what it is all about? The old saying is that you learn by experience. But all those experiences don't have to be your own. You can learn by other people's experiences. And in the case of mistakes, which might be the greatest teacher, you can learn by other people sharing their mistakes, so you don't have to make those mistakes. You get the upside without the downside.
(my frequent use of "you" above, is just the general "you", not specific to anyone)

There's nothing good that can come from helping others benefit from gambling anymore. If someone learns a good opportunity by watching you or others, so be it. But actually and purposefully teaching anyone is bad news.
Actually, jbjb, you're missing the point. As a sports bettor, I'm not going to tell anyone who I like or how I arrived at a conclusion (unless I'm doing a podcast and how I came to a neutral position on a game). But what you can do in terms of "helping" isn't to tell people what they SHOULD be doing. You tell them what they SHOULD NOT be doing. Usually, that turns out to be helpful. It steers them away from doing stupid.
I always say, "I'm not here to tell you how to do it right. I'm here to tell you what you're doing wrong."
For example, 6/5 blackjack doesn't help anyone, so shutting it down by un-recommending it helps everyone (except casinos). If casinos had their druthers, it would all be 6/5. Similarly, telling people that betting parlays in sports is 99% of the time brain dead is helpful. If sports books had their druthers, all bets would be parlays, as certain states initially instituted when they legalized it years ago.
The point is that being an editor can be a good thing for other players, even if you keep your personal angles and tricks of the game to yourself. Debunking mathematically stupid is a good thing.
6:5 blackjack doesn't bother us. We play blackjack with a 8-10% edge. All 6:5 does is knock that down 1.2% or so. Still much more than any card counter out there.
No way. You can ask anyone; I'm 20x more combative, argumentative, loud and aggressive in person than I ever am on the forums.
I think just human interaction, in general, brings out the worst of everyone. That's why I can count the number of people I regularly talk to off of the forums without even using all of my fingers.
Mission, nobody is like you. Your writing is pristinely patient. You take your time, dot the logical i's, and work your way through the point or the argument. Some people sometimes call that boring, but it's responsible and measured. It's Joe Friday, which I admire. I consider myself a patient writer, but you are way more precise and patient than I am.
I think the act of writing imposes a tone for you, except for the occasional written willingness for some WWE fisticuffs, which has more impact (and a certain charm) because it's so rare.
It’s Bluejay. He shows up at WoV or even GF occasionally to try and “help” someone. He’s as stubborn as they come and always ends up in a fght and then gets pissed and disappears again.
As for where he is now, I would guess out on the streets of Austin protesting something.
If you ever need a laugh, check out his website. In one of the greatest posts ever Max compared it to a manifesto. The guy is that far out there with his views.
