Thread: A Free play casino report

  1. #1
Went to two of the better-known San Diego casinos overnight to use their free play.

At casino #1 (not my favorite, but I'll take the free play, thank you) my goal was to run through the $100 free play once in $1 Bonus Poker, and leave. I was lucky and hit a bunch of two-pairs and once 3oak -- but nothing big. That returned $115. I also had an extra $1 of free play from "points" that I downloaded onto the machine--- played the $1 and was dealt a pair of queens which returned the $1 as cash.

I hit the cash out button and took the $116 ticket to the ticket cashing machine.

Ticket for $116 goes in but only $115 comes out. I tell a passing slot attendant the machine short changed me. They call someone -- and about ten minutes later they open the machine and find my errant dollar bill "hanging inside." I get my dollar.

That's when the guy using the cash machine next to me (he was getting cash with his ATM card) said "you waited around for a buck?"

And I said -- it's hard to get a buck out of this place. You bet I waited for it.

The real moral of the story is while I was waiting those ten minutes I watched others cash their tickets and NO ONE bothered to count the cash coming out. They just picked up the money, and left.

I wonder how many other people have been shortchanged by these machines?

Then on to casino #2 but that's a different story.

I'm one who just stuffs the cash into my bag without counting it and off I go. I've had 3 instances where I was shortchanged $10/$100/$100, and two instances where I was overchanged $5/$100 in all the years since the tito's have been around. The reason I don't stay there to count it has everything to do with not wanting to interact with the typical class of slugs who go to those things to cash in tickets of 55c, $2.60, $13 etc. and/ or the slags who keep changing 5's & 20's for a pack of ones.

Umm... I guess I'm one of the "slags" who uses the machine to change a $20 into ones...

Why does someone who plays $5 need ones?

I need ones for tips... the valet, bellman, cocktail waitresses, the In 'N Out drive through for the ride home...
