So, I was analyzing an often ignored and overlooked ap machine last night. It got me wondering. If your counting spins and frequencies of certain things landing, how would you take notes without drawing suspicion from the eye above?

I remember one of the other forum members suggesting a pen camera in the shirt to record the footage and then review the video at home where you can take the tallies.

I use a pocket notebook, 3 inches by 5 inches. My standard excuse if asked is I'm writing stuff down in my walmart shopping list. I usually have a walmart shopping list working anyway. But it's rare that I get asked.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

    1. If you are playing with a player’s card and it tracks your coin in (or points via coin in), then you have a good read on your coin in. Some casinos round down once you pull your card so you lost your fractional “points”. Some only keep track of the dollar value. Some keep track of your exact coin in. Hard Rock in Sacramento’s first tracking system kept track on your exact wager, e.g. $0.88, $1.60, etc so you know exactly how much you ran through at a particular point in time by looking at the delta or first difference at any two points in time, respectively.

    2. I used to take photos at pre-determined periods (making sure I keep track of points on card, current credits, etc). Now, I just use my smartphone and write down the info. I also have spreadsheets (“Numbers” on iOS) for P-values, chi-square tests, some binomial tests, specialized tests for randomness like Runs Test, etc.

Just my two cents: the eye in sky or surveillance is more concerned about you cheating than keeping records for IRS purposes. I’ve been asked by slot personnel many times why I was tracking my slot activities and my standard answer is the IRS requires me to keep “contemporaneous” records. I start to quote IRS regulations and then they leave me alone.
