Thread: Going Mobile

  1. #1
Although I've come a long way I still don't have the stamina I had before the heart attack. I have no problem parking and walking into and out of the small 20 machine casinos in Montana, or going grocery shopping at Albertsons or Safeway.

But getting around in the big hotel/casinos propose problems if I ever want to go back to them. I need to negotiate the parking lot and hotel with luggage plus....since I only play advantages I need to be able to make laps around the casino several times a day. Thats just way to much walking for me. So far it has kept me out of the big out of state hotel/casinos.

I started researching power wheel chairs online. This is the one I settled on. It's about a 4 minute video:

"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

So I went and bought one. The unit easily breaks down into 4 pieces and fits in the trunk of my car. Then I went to a big hotel/casino to try it out. I assembled it in the parking lot in about two minutes then headed into the casino. Talk about taking the strain off. Easy negotiation from parking lot to hotel. Then I was lapping the hell out of those machines all day. And you know those restrooms that are always far away. Well, they ain't so far away now. I'm tickled fricking pink.

Well thought out. Most players here have to leave their chairs to the side. This one could pull right up to the machine and the player just rotate the seat.

Congratulations Mickey, can’t keep a good man down when there is a will.

A good lesson for those sitting on their asses bitching about the extra $600 they were getting. As always, and in spite of whatever is going on, opportunities exist for this willing to put the effort in.

    Have a great day Mick!

You have to wonder what the hell you are doing, when it comes down to this.

Dieting doesn't work, pills don't work, wheelchairs don't work, fancy strategies don't work, shrinks don't work - not really. Don't settle for this garbage. Get up, and do something about it. Park those fuckers. Fight back, until you are right again, however long it takes.

Geez, reminds me of the guy on oxygen whom I saw, one day, years ago, at one of those small shit-hole casinos. Dragging that small tank around. Waiting to die. Lol.

Yeah, the annals of casino gambling are filled with heros and "good men".

dragged around an oxygen tank during his last years, including in the back room of the Bellagio in 2001, where he played high stakes Baccarat. I was there and watched him play. They didn't have private salons yet. He lost that trip after being ahead but he won so much in a prior trip he was banned from all MGM casinos for some years.
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

By the way, those Hexbreaker machines are a good mathematical challenge for you to keep busy. Some are obvious plays but I would believe they have burnt many an AP that thought they figured them out.

LMR, I know that you mean well, but it just sounds insulting to me. How the fuck do you know what the hell kind of workouts mickey has been undergoing? Shouldn't workouts and exersize for recovery be done in stages? Please give the guy the benefit of doubt will you? I'm sure mickeycrimm is doing everything that he can withstand right now.

I had someone run into me with one of those damn things about 2-3 years ago in the Bayou right before they went out of business. Hurt like hell. Those things should be outlawed in highly occupied areas. But hey, whatever it takes I guess.

Would be pretty funny if some other vulture started using tire spikes to keep you off plays

Anyone who knows my history well, as Bill Yung, here, and, Garnabby, elsewhere, knows that I wrote of my partner going through a bypass, many years ago, just after I met her, and, a kidney transplant, about ten years ago. She had what is called one dwarf kidney, and, one pea kidney. Look, the sort of stuff that you can't really know of until you have kidney problems. A lot of people have only one kidney, but, like her, don't find out about it unless something goes wrong. She was a twin, something to do with this, where one of the twins dominated. Anyway, I've been through all of the medical stuff, with her, all of the special dietary stuff, and, so on. And, I was the one who donated the kidney. Just happened to match, about a one in three thousand chance. You have to be in virtually perfect health to donate. The heart and kidney are "one", in the health sense. Years ago, most doctors thought that dead heart tissue didn't regenerate, but now, they know that it does, but, as far as I know, only with the usual exertion. If you don't push it, well, you won't get this regeneration. Anyway, I've done all sorts and degrees of long distance running. It takes about ten years to become a half-decent runner. So, saw all of this stuff from also the other perspective. Had my own ups and downs, in other ways, enough to know that the "luxuries" you indulge up front will cost you double in back.

Wow, that was a great post that certainly put things into it's proper perspective, coming from your own life experiences. Your partner may not have been the dominating twin but she was fortunate to meet a one in a million individual who is a class act.

I don't normally read LMR but since you quoted him here I took a look to see what he is up to. You know the old saying. When you assume. You make an ass out of u and me. Get it? Ass + u + me = assume. lol!

One of my problems after the heart attack has been shortness of breath. How do you run track when you can't breath? It's gotten better but I still pack around an oxygen concentrator to sleep at night. I can hardly sleep without the oxygen. And the oxygen doesn't improve it that much. I'm taking naps during the day. My doctors have me in the middle of a sleep study. My next night with them I'll be sleeping with a CPAP to see how that works.

I'm 67 years old with a breathing problem and a heart that works at only two-thirds capacity. How much track am I supposed to run to "get back in shape?"

LMR is a young buck in good health that thinks thats the way its always going to be. I'm happy for him. But he will find out on his own that growing old ain't for lightweight pussies. No one escapes time, tide and old age unless they die young.

LMR said it took him ten years running track to get in shape. If I had to bet on whether I will be alive ten years from now, as a highly knowledgeable professional gambler, I would take the under. But I ain't bitchin' about it. I'm doing my best to stay mobile.

Mine has a top speed of 3.5 MPH. It has a speed control I only use the top speed in the parking lot. I cut the speed way down on the inside. I could have bought a scooter chair with a top speed of 12 MPH and a range of 25 miles before charging but I thought that was overkill.

I seen one idiot going to fast when I was at the casino.

Mickey probably is a good guy. Just misled, but he seems like a decent person in many ways. It is funny though the thought of "good guys" hanging out in casinos.

Anyway, I was going to post for Mickey. Cool thread talking about life and such. Takes a bit of bravery to put these sort of things out there. Contrary to what his opinion may be, I'm not out to get him or troll him when his political points don't invite it.
It is official. Redietz will never be on Dan Druff's podcast. "too much integrity"

Reading about your own life story was very pleasing to me, but rather hypercritical of you to bring plenty of personal history to a gambling forum like your above quote. For the record, MidWest Player attached the link on his own without my knowledge period, about my wife passing away. I already knew this type of personal information is not welcomed here.

I don't recall that I wrote that BoSox started a thread about, or he mentioned that, his wife passed away.

As for personal information placed on gambling forums, I draw the line with dead relatives, and fellow posters. Nor am I into wishing harm to others on gambling forums. I'm sure that, on very few occasions, I joked about such, but, specifically, this I don't recall.

I brought up the kidney stuff here, after Alan brought up another fundraiser he was doing. Alan received a kidney, if I recall, over ten years ago. I brought it up, again, after you wondered that I was trying to insult Crimm. Yes, I tried to insult Crimm, on several occasions. If he wants to give up, settle for a glorified wheelchair, this is fine. If Maximal penis bar, and, old Chocolate Monet, enjoy masochistic archaic movies, dieting, etc, attitudes in general, then more "power" to them. Eventually, the nonsense movies, dieting, end, so, then what? Have to face reality and actuality, at some point.
