Thread: Jean Scott's 35 Years of Advantage Play

  1. #21
Rob, 2 million over 35 years is less than 60K a year. Spread that out over a dozen casinos and they weren’t putting a big dent in anyone’s profit margin.

Not busting on anyone but the asshole AxelWolf. He sticks that extended wolf nose of his into any conversation concerning anyone with claims of making money in Vegas regardless of how big or small the claim is. Sadly, his comments are always based on assumptions and guesses like the phony image of himself he endlessly tries to portray on these forums.

I thought it was nice to see two married people happily spending their lives together. But itís nothing new. Millions of married couples are still happy in their old age doing all sorts of things together. Since their lives were spent in casinos together it must have special meaning on these forums to people who spent and still spend most of their waking hours in them.

My comments about health in casinos are a fact. In my gambling days a couple of days or a weekend were all I could take in casinos. It was like spending a weekend in Grand Central Station in N.Y. If I ever stayed for a week, I usually couldnít wait to get the fuck out of there or would leave early. You have to feel bad for the people forced to work in Casinos and places like Grand Central Terminal everyday their whole lives.

    Just Saying

Not getting between you and Axel. My comment was more about your earlier comment on the million dollar comment over 12 years. No clue how much Jean and Brad had saved before retirement. But I always respected them for enjoying their retirement years and finding a way to make money doing it.

Itís hard to find anyone to say a negative thing about them and since they never showed up on these forums, I find it hard to bust on them. Axel, Mickey, Singer, me and everyone else on these forums open ourselves to everything we get based on our posts. Jean and Brad never did and donít deserve it.

I think we all can, and should agree on that.
Raise you hand if you actually believed KJ would quit WoV like he claimed. Bonus points for knowing how many times he has Quit the forums.

Some cool pictures of old downtown motels Iím sure you remember along with a lot of BS on ďwinningĒ. Itís definitely worth an hour of your time for the memories.
I thought it was funny they were showing cheap hotels like the Ferguson and Traveler down Fremont Street from the casino district as a way to save money on hotel rooms. That area is a combat zone and would scare the shit out of any tourist. LOL!
Absolutely. Even in 03, can you imagine the poor 1st time tourist trying to save money and ending up at the Peter Pan or any motel off Fremont. I know you know, these were the days before Tony tried to create the East Fremont District.

My wife and I are proud to have had beers at the Atomic when the original owners had it. It was a couple whose names I canít remember but we had to be buzzed in. I assume we didnít look like crackheads so they let us in, but I do remember cheap Busch cans and a great time. And I remember the walk to and past the Western wasnít exactly Disney.

I used to stay at the Gold Spike back in the day (as most here know the hotel was above the casino). The non-smoking rooms sure smelled like smoke.

When I was broke and I mean broke, broke a friend and I used to play the Freeroll Coverall 25 dollar Bingo Card daily if we woke up in time. I hate to admit it but I ate breakfast many times in that joint but I don't discriminate when it comes to free or cheap food. At least back at that time I certainly didn't. I miss the Comped Breakfast at Careful Kitty's (El Cortel). I lived on that 99 cent breakfast for a few years when I was learning the ropes so to speak. That Chinese Buffet was nothing to brag about but it came in handy when it was free for me and a few others. Good Times... gone but not forgotten.

That's unusual...I know many teachers, but none that retired that young.

Cops & firefighters...yes, they get out after 25 years if they don't make brass.

Even then, most take another job and keep working along with collecting their pension.

But teachers? To stop working and hang out in casinos at age 46...cutting coupons?

C'mon man. What's up with that?

Great stuff Monet. I enjoyed the $1.50 giant hotdog and soda special at the Gold Spike (now I have the Cosco $1.50 hotdog and soda but it's not a giant hot dog LOL). I'm glad we are old enough to have lived in the days before everything with character got gentrified in the areas we lived or travelled.

I grew up on a farm, went to university, and so on. My father was a farmer who knew his trade. One thing I recall him telling us kids was that if we knew what went into wieners, and other cheap stuff like it, we wouldn't eat it. Come to think of it, now I can't recall him, ever, eating a wiener.

As they say, thanks for the memories. Memories that I wouldn't have tried to cling to. So damn many memories. I guess that you have to stop making new ones just to be able to remember, nay, relive, from day to day, some of the stale ones. It's amazing, too, when you think of an old memory, from afar, to be able to subconsciously apply some new and fresh perspectives. Very satisfying, almost Taoistic in nature. Didn't they have a lot of flashbacks on Kung Fu? Well written, I guess.

    3/21 to 8/22 is 153 + 1 days. 321 = 107*3 + 0; 123 = 3*71 + 0. To 1/0. 822 = (-1 + 7)(37 + 100); 228 = 57[6 - (1 + 1)], ---> 11411. 15[3^2] = 153 + (5 + 1). 154 days is ~ 42.08% of year 2020. 451 = 11*41^1.

I still fondly remember Mr Cy's. And the Churchill Downs, Rose Bowl, and Santa Anita race and sports books.

Man, you should try a smoke free casino. It is a thing of beauty. Some states in the East have them.

Her teaching job and gambling career overlapped. They started out as part-timers taking the occasional junkets to LV. Things picked up after she retired.
