Thread: song reco

The other night I watched Vision Quest (1985) yet again.
    Love that movie.
I cry tears of joy every time!

Forgive me if I already posted this song as I do talk about the same things over and over.

Anyways... great unknown song from Madonna in that movie that nobody heard of because they all focus on Crazy For You.
True Story... in some countries they actually changed the movie title from Vision Quest to Crazy For You.
Personally, in my opinion, Vision Quest is the much better Title for the Movie.

So here is the Music Video on Youtube for all you Gamblers!!
Another true story... I got suspended on Twitter for 12 hours for typing a direct movie quote from Vision Quest.
Turns out they don't understand that "Shoot the Shute" isn't about guns.
It's a reference about a wrestling move when you shoot the leg and the opponents name was Shute.
But you all already know that so I'm just typing to type.

Yes that was a great movie. Speaking of Shute, walking up and down stadium seats with a log on your back ain't easy. I really thought Mathew Modine would get beyond cult status and break into the mainstream, but I guess he was just too smart.

He turned down the lead in 3 Monsters...

    Top Gun
    Wall Street
    Back to the Future

He probably wasn't willing to play ball and I'm pretty sure when you turn down movies it costs you your connections in the long run.
Whatever, he was great in Memphis Belle and Full Metal Jacket!
I haven't seen Gross Anatomy for some time but I liked it.
Pacific Heights was pretty good but I guess that is because of Keaton.

It is amazing how talented Michael Keaton is.
He has some serious Range and well... Charm.
I love watching that guy act or tell a story.
He uses that quirky twitch all the Fucking time but I love it lol.

I'm guessing you didn't watch Much Ado About Nothing (1993) but Keaton does a great job in that.
I like all things Shakespeare though.
    I'm odd.
I like Classical Music, Opera, Books, Video Games, Guns, Hockey and Chauvinism.
I said Misogyny first but that's more of a new thing people say.
I don't really relate well to that word as I always think of Massage Parlors when people use it.

Oh yeah, not to be an ass but I'm pretty sure that log Shute was carrying was plastic and hollow.
I'm sure you know but I had to say it or ruin it.
I'd be impressed if it was a real log.
    Like... really impressed.

Great point about Modine. As you say Monet, the log was hollow (but wood not plastic). Agree about Michael Keaton - Beetlejuice FTW.

    Good Looking Out!
    Good Information.
I bet the studios wouldn't allow you to do that these days because of some Bullshit liability and insurance.
Another reason why I miss the 70s, 80s and even the 90s.

I can't find the scene where he blows up the house, his bar and dealership.
It is ironic that they have this great scene blowing up the Green Mill like they blew up that Tree in the movie Sorcerer (1977)
The irony or relation is that Tangerine Dream did both soundtracks!
Enjoy the Final Confrontation as I guess I will have to record and upload the scene that I am talking about.
Like they say... you want something done right you got to do it yourself.
Fuck the people who say this song is Comfortably Numb.
I listened to both side by side and don't see it.
I do enjoy both though so its a win win.

I was driving around to the sports books like a degenerate this morning.
I was listening to 97.1 the point and it had the John Clay Wolfe Show on it.
I've caught it a few times before but with no time to listen.
I got a good 30 minutes or so today.
    Glad I did.
    Hilarious.
They were making fun of Tiger Woods and Lady Gaga.
Old School Comedy using Asian Slurs acting as Tigers Mom and many other stereotypes.
    Good Stuff.
I thought that sort of thing was canceled.
Glad someone still has the balls to put that sort of thing on the air these days.

kewlJ might enjoy Bobbo's Gay House story...

I noticed the mainstream media really doesn't care if people know they are lying anymore - really they shove that fact in your face. Tiger Woods car accident embodies this perfectly - very clearly drugs/intoxicants played a huge role in his accident, but the MSM simply states that none of those substances played a part. The worst part of it is, you are forced to hear about what happened to him when you tune into the news for weather and local goings on. Any way thanks for the reco - no doubt 97.1 can be streamed through the internet.

I remember his show, but I did not listen to it that often even though it was pretty zany.

My favorite scene in probably my all-time favorite movie. Everyone needs an Elmo in their life.

Hell, it was he and Mad Magazine that influenced me the most in my youth.
    What, Me Worry?

When the time finally comes for me to pass from this world, I can only hope that my instructions are followed: I've advised my wife that as I lay on my deathbed I want to hear this song played to help ease my death:

Hopefully I'll be at home and can hear it through my Krell system; otherwise if I'm not at home headphones will do.

*note to suspicious minds: No, I am fit as a fiddle, not on my deathbed ... just planning ahead.
