Thread: Shoutout to DarkOz how you getting all that free play

This is VCT. No one will ban or censor you.

You say you're going to publish a Tell All book on this anyway, so you obviously have no qualms about talking about it.

So, tell us exactly how you're getting all this free play on slot machines and such on existing player cards without inputting losing coin. Or stop making claims of earning twenty grand a week with your free play scam.
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

Maybe LMR can explain the numbers, but what doesn't add up is $20K earn per week while sporting a $90 phone and $20 watch.

That's beyond frugal. You can't take it with you when you go.

“- Paulie: 'Nose' still shines his own shoes, pop. I don't call that success.
    - Paulie's Father: Oh yeah? And what do you call it?
    - Paulie: Knowin' how to spend it. I never ordered a Brandy in my life that wasn't Cordon Bleu... I took two-hundred from shylocks, pop, to see Sinatra at the Garden? Sat two seats away from Tony Bennett. That's success!”

Guy appears to spend/waste lots of money on entertainment stuff. TV, movies, comics, experiences. Watches, phones, clothes and to a lesser extent cars are impress other people stuff. I think the guys an exaggerating egotistical blowhard to an extent but if you don’t give a shit what other people think there’s really not a good reason to spend a lot of money on that sort of stuff. Shit there’s not really much of a reason to even own a watch anymore except to show off.

How would you impress someone with your phone?

It comes down to what floats your boat.

There are younger girls these days who aren't even into jewelry (then again, you have the Instagram crowd, female, young, that impresses onto them the importance of wearing Cartier love bracelets).

Similarly a man who doesn't care about watches it might not mean much to him to wear a $20,000. watch. But for me, when I put on a fine timepiece, it makes me feel a certain way. Call it materialistic, call it showing off, but then again at one end of the extreme we have Buddhists who wrap themselves in sheets and don't give a shit about money, at the other we have, I suppose, black rappers who flash everything bling bling all the way.

I mean my watches aren't gaudy aftermarket diamond encrusted crapola, but I have tourbillons that cost more than most any Rolex and don't have a single diamond on them, and wouldn't look like much to anyone not in the know. I wear such a watch because it means something to me.

Same with cars - I mean there are bling bling cars and then there are very expensive cars that don't quite look like much and then there are inexpensive cars that are just transportation. Just depends on what matters to you.

How about your house? Does it matter where you live? How big your house is? How many acres land? How well it is built and decorated inside?

Unless you're all the way on the left with those Buddhists and Amish, you do care about something material, whatever that might be.

    Of course not.

What kind of air-head contemplates another man's watch, and whether or not they are showing off by wearing it?

Does a fireman wear red suspenders just to be a show off?

The simple answer is that he doesn’t make that. He probably makes a decent amount or works for somebody that makes more than he does.

Maybe I’m projecting with the phone as I still haven’t figured out why so many people buy iPhones when they are inferior products at a higher price point than their competitors.

Apple products have always been junk.

Why do you even care what somebody else buys, or care enough to notice what make or model it is, or enough to consider whether or not they are showing off by using it?

I don’t ask people. They sometimes feel the need to tell me about it. I guess I’m reading into said behavior that they think it’s impressive or something to show off if they feel the need to talk about it without anyone asking. Now go play 20 questions with someone else please.

    In real life:
People who "floss" their nice things probably aren't used to having them. But just wearing an expensive watch, piece of jewelry, Brioni or bespoke Italian suit, carrying an alligator attache case, whatever, doesn't necessarily mean you are showing off. That might just be the way you're accustomed to dressing/appearing.

And then for someone else none of those accoutrements might be important and that person might be as successful or more successful than the one with all the fine haberdashery. Just depends.

But in general, people comfortable with what they have won't talk about it in person! No way. "Hey look at my Rolex." Gettoutahere.

This is the internet and we're all anonymous here (or at least I am) so there is some relative safety in discussing certain things. Not the same as in person. But even on the internet I somehow got into discussing watches and such after I plopped down my watch to cover up my name on a tournament ticket when I was taking a pic of the ticket to post it later on a forum as part of a trip report. That led eventually to posting whatever watch I had on next to my stack of chips more or less to prove that yes, these are my chips. The watch thing somewhat built on itself. It wasn't intended as "hey look at my watch."

    A 20K watch don't keep any better time than a $40 Timex.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ
