Thread: One casino is considering Plan B

  1. #1
One unnamed casino is getting ready for Plan B: shutting down again or curtailing the casino floor space.

This casino staff member told me things are getting bad: higher infection rates, heighten risks from fall due to virus coming back from the Southern Hemisphere, etc.

Right now, the person told me the casino prefers to stay open but with much reduced casino floor space. They haven’t ruled out closing early, e.g. no more 24/7 days days a week.

October is just around the corner with flu season is coming up. There’s no vaccine. There is a lot of other concerns.

I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, and I understand people are making money now, but the next three months could be brutal with the weather starting to get colder.

I get there are a few logistic issues with multiple pits that are not fully seated and such but in general roping off big parts of the casino and shutting them down will make cross-infection even worse.
It is official. Redietz will never be on Dan Druff's podcast. "too much integrity"

It could. As I tried to explain to mickey, much of this is about creating an environment outside where you reduce population density and inside reducing people per cubic foot. Anytime you reduce the floor space being used, you are increasing the shared breathing space.

When you deal with a state like Montana, which is exploding by the way, or South Dakota, the big advantage to living in those states is that they are perpetually in a reduced population density situation compared to other states so they are, in essence, in pseudo-shutdowns compared to other states. But people were stupid and now even the empty states are in trouble, partly because the constituents of those empty states never believed in the science.

If you're inside in an enormous cubic footage and there is good ventilation, you've created less virus per cubic foot. As soon as you start reducing that, you risk amping up contagion.

Michael Osterholm, out of Minnesota, back in early April, predicted a death toll ranging from 225,000 to 850,000. At the time, nobody believed him. I even thought he was being extreme. But he knew American behaviors. He turned out to be spot on.

As I've tried to explain to Comrade Dietz, the shutdown bullshit don't work. All it accomplishes is prolonging the fucking life of the virus and destroying the economy. Sweden proved that. They are down to a death or two a day and their economy didn't take the big hit that others did.

In Montana--which is not exploding with covid by the way, only Comrade Dietz is pushing that false narrative--the hotspots are cooling down. We're six months into the virus. We've had 11,242 cases with 165 deaths. That's a 1.47% mortality rate. One of the first things Ditz' socialists tried to do was scare us with 4% and 5% mortality rates. They never materialized.

We've had a total of just 650 hospitalizations and have only 128 active hospitalizations. So much for explosions. The new cases are young people not social distancing. They don't get sick. The older people like me stay away from them.

What there has been is an explosion in his covid tests. We have 322,000 tests so far in a population of 1,060,000. The more people you test the more positives you are going to find....and we've tested one hell of a lot of people for our population size. We have only 2,443 active cases.

Ditz tries to make the excuse that we are isolated. Most Montanans are not isolated. We live in the bigger towns of the state. While we have wide open spaces between towns, the towns themselves are small in area. Billings for example has a population density of about 2300 people per square mile. Montana is a summertime tourist hotspot and the tourai brought their share of covid to Montana.

But Comrade Dietz will be screaming "the sky is falling" probably until at least 2022.

PS: Australia has experienced a very light regular flu season, a result of social distancing. The same will occur in the U.S. but the Ditz socialists will never admit that the lack of deaths to regular flu offset covid deaths.

I looked at Montana's number and yesterday was their peak in new cases. Mickey wants to call it a false narrative to claim that is
'exploding'. Pretty damn close if you haven't already hit a peak you're working up towards.

Mickey gives no evidence of how testing has increased in the past month. Typical Trump talking point. Show us data that this is true for Montana.

Oh well - Mickey will learn.

Yep, young people in the bars at night. I don't hang out with young people. Those under the age of 50 have a 99.98% covid-19 survival rate. That was published by the CDC yesterday. So number of cases don't mean much. You can continue on with your alarmist bullshit but no one is listening anymore.

I googled "covid cases montana" and Google has embedded graphs and data. Not sure there they pull the data, but they hire the brightest so I really really really doubt it is bullshit. But yea, sure, I'm the retard. Last result was the 23rd @ 330 new cases. Also the peak new cases in Montana.

Also, I said I wouldn't go political but the "more virus because of more testing" is a Trump talking point. I mean, it is definitely true, but why is Montana getting peak testing 8 months into the pandemic? You didn't give any numbers or anything to indicate. I didn't even want sources, I wanted you to just investigate it and come back with numbers.

You may get all caught up in your own biases and completely change up your position to not be wrong but I don't think you'd make up #s. I didn't ask for "sources" just "data".

So the math would work something similar to it is this. If there are 1000 cases in Montana and then 10,000 cases. Well, you're 10x more likely to catch it when there are 10x as many cases. You and your rationalizing. Good you don't hang out with young people. Neither do I ! Doesn't make me immune.

Realistically with so many more people getting it and only 10x the numbers published, there are probably quite a few more going around asymptomatic.

I hope you don't get it Mickey. As much as I'd like to see you taste your own medicine, I think it is a fairly serious thing for a guy your age and in your shape. It won't be a walk in the park and might be the end of you. Not to mention they're still wondering what all the longterm side-effects will be.

Diseases and shit do cumulative damageon our bodies. I'd take care of yours - my friend who will never really be a friend but I'm calling you that in this post in hopes you listen.

Montana started out getting just 300 tests a day but the goal was to get up to 1000 tests per day. I'm not sure where we are today but I think its way over that number. It's probably up around 2000 tests per day now.

In my other post I completely butcher a paragraph and didn't correct it. Glad you didn't put me on ignore, Mick!

Anyway, the number either grows or doesn't. Around here the cases kept going lower so much it was impressive, but with the kids back in school and it becoming colder, I've seen a reversal back upwards. They're not likely to increase lockdowns much either. We're going to see it start increasing. I expect this all over. I believe that is what is happening in Montana.

You really can't make a claim about the tests without some sort of numbers. Around here we have a positivity rate that is reported. I think you can work backwards from that perhaps and it also helps with the picture.

Not really sky is falling but goodluck if you unfortunately catch it. I'm waiting it out, building a small house with numerous other projects. I'd share the view/pics with you fellas but it would dox me. I'll be caught up with a lot of stuff when it is over with. BTW, nice income for part-time work Mick!
