Now just watch the covid go sky high, and death rates skyrocket. What an idiot Florida has for a Governor. Hell even Tasha won't recommend doing that.
I put my first reply and then saw your reply. It was high time to open up Florida again. Lots of people needed their income back. For instance, Covid 19 wiped out many businesses that had been longtime staples. And Florida Government admitted months ago that Mandatory Shutdowns were a HUGE mistake. Practicing Social Distancing, frequent hand cleaning, dusinfecting surfanced, and wearing face coverings should have been sufficient. There was absolutely NO good reason to have mandatory Shutdowns. When Coronavirus began coming from China to the U.S, I was definitely NOT expecting Mandatory Shutdowns. I was expecting this to be like Ebola, Zika, Sars where these were taken seriously, but NO Mandatory , etc Countrywide Shutdowns happened. Lots of people being out of incomes and subsequently out of their homes(Evictions and foreclosures are happening due to people no longer having incomes)is NOT okay especially since Mandatory Shutdowns should NOT have happened.

In fact, when Shutdowns first started happening, I thought it would be only for two weeks since The Government knows most people can only miss ONE Paycheck before real trouble starts. I was thinking ,No way will the Government allow Mandatory Shutdowns to last more than one pay cycle(Two weeks) I was so glaringly wrong

Now where Florida Govenor MAY be an Idiot is putting the "Masks are no longer mandated, " executive order on Friday. That's a bad idea in my honest opinion. Besides, a Customer with no mask on yesterday had a fit when we refused to ring him up without a mask on. I was extremely upset when he came near my face with no fucking mask on and shoved his phone near my face showing the executive order. Like, no, hell no. Get the fuck away from me. I really wish I could have cussed him out for that. Since WHY would he think going near someone's face without a mask on was acceptable? Had my Store Manager seen him do that, he would have stood up in my defense and most likely politely ask him to leave. It turned out the "Masks are no longer mandated," Executive Order is only for OUTSIDE, not INSIDE businesses." The Customer DID put on his Mask, and was rung up.

Take comfort in the fact that no one is actually backing up his wishes to have you permanantly banned.

It is 100% fact that we were told the shutdown was nothing more than preventing hospitals from being overwhelmed. They suddenly changed the goal to stopping the virus. Stopping it is impossible.

They still have a ways to go to catch up to worldwide Tuberculosis numbers.
10 million infected every year with 1.5 million deaths annually.
They have a very long way to go to catch up to 9 million deaths due to starvation per year.

Just another day in Florida with maybe 15% of people wearing masks in my area. And again LESS cases per capital than PA. The same PA with no alcohol after 10PM and restaurants at 0-50% occupancy inside and no bar seating.

While here it’s 100% open with bars open from 7AM to 2AM, full bar seating and restaurant seating. Places like Disney are requiring masks and Walmart still does but it’s maybe 60% compliance. Head North toward the panhandle and you get dirty looks if you wear a mask.

I understand being cautious if high risk, but no proof a mask mandate makes a difference.

CA 17696 cases yesterday with the toughest restrictions in the Country. Florida with everyone 100% open and no masks, 6659. CA has 39.5M residents, FL 20.5M. November for the month shows similar numbers, though not as dramatic.

So who wants to argue masks and restrictions are working?

Gavin Newsom is very clear on the danger of masks - that is why he didn't hesitate to not wear one when he had his $15000 soiree at French Laundry restaurant in Yountville,CA. It is rumored that he is on the verge of totally locking down the whole state again - I doubt he will lose an ounce of sleep over the millions of lives he's ruined.

24,252 cases in CA yesterday, 10,177 in Florida and 12,089 in PA.

What do 2 of these states have in common? Severe lockdowns while the other one is wide open.

But the sheep will continue to say masks and lockdowns work.

Kinda amazing you don't believe lockdowns "work". The only real discussion here is whether they're worth the societal cost.

Masks you can at least make a reasonable argument against given how hard it is to prove the efficacy of all the various masks etc. Almost impossible to do a real study.

HOWEVER, it is clear lockdowns slow down the spread. This should be common sense and not really worth explaining.

Anyway, I just came to bump this thread because the Florida victory is far from a done deal. The results are not yet in but if you've been reading BS news you might not be aware how bad FL is having it and it is going to get far worse. Buckle up.

I'd bet this De Santis person you guys are holding up as some sort of genius leader doesn't get reelected if the reelection is more than a year from today.

Granted, I haven't looked at any numbers and maybe his approval is just that high, but I'll stick my neck out there on this one.

FL is #2 in death rate from a week ending on Sept 13th. Here is top 3.

    Mississippi
    Deaths per 100,000: 1.75
    Daily average deaths: 52.1

    Florida
    Deaths per 100,000: 1.63
    Daily average deaths: 349.7

    Louisiana
    Deaths per 100,000: 1.07
    Daily average deaths: 49.9

This idea that "freedom" beats diseases is wishful thinking. Oh well eventually FL will slow down the death-rate which off-the-cuff seems over double the national average from what I see. Get'em DeSantis.

Hold up, are you trying to tell me the oldest and fattest states in the nation are experiencing above average death rates? OMG!!!

We were doing REALLY well until the Delta Variant showed up. Covid Cases were way down with the Vaccines being widely available. Delta Variant jacked up the Covid Cases again.

Hmm, I may have this wrong but i thought FL had been held up as a shining beacon of how to do all this correctly. Why weren't the old fat people all dying off back then?
