This idea that "freedom" beats diseases is wishful thinking. Oh well eventually FL will slow down the death-rate which off-the-cuff seems over double the national average from what I see. Get'em DeSantis.
Hold up, are you trying to tell me the oldest and fattest states in the nation are experiencing above average death rates? OMG!!!
Hmm, I may have this wrong but i thought FL had been held up as a shining beacon of how to do all this correctly. Why weren't the old fat people all dying off back then?
Must have missed the part of them being the beacon for doing things correctly. I always see them as the example of lazy covid journalism, take a picture of people at a busy beach and some tweets and there’s a story about people being irresponsible

Well read the first post in this thread to get an idea what was motivating my posting in here.

I'm more for opening up and such because the downsides to lockdowns are catastrophic to people's lives. It really has a lot to do with their freedom! When you lose your ability to feed yourself/family and maintain your home then you lose FAR FAR more freedom than when you have to wear a mask. It seems simple to me.

The outcome of DeSantis's policies had yet to be realized and the last chapter written in any history book should be the most accurate one. Gloating threads should be no different.
It is official. Redietz will never be on Dan Druff's podcast. "too much integrity"

Actually it looks like Florida made the right call. At least until the next “variant”, we are at Herd Immunity. And note USF is as liberal a university as they come.

Not really. There are upsides to Florida's approach just like most policies and getting to 'herd immunity' first is surely one of them, but everything has a cost. The article just states how Florida compares against some arbitrary number that a professor is making up.

Covid new infections seem to be rapidly falling off as was somewhat expected given other country's experiences with this variant. COVID rapidly dropping off around here too. This is good news for everyone. I'd just like people I know to be able to go to the doctor in a reasonable time and other similar things. I feel like we're over the worst part of COVID.
