Thread: Gasoline prices and Vegas trips

  1. #1
California is the #1 market for the Vegas casinos and with gas prices now close to $4.50 a gallon and headed towards $5 it can't be good for the casinos. I'm expecting to see "gasoline promotions" and "travel bonuses" soon. They could actually be cheaper for the casinos.

I wonder if players would stop and compare the value of $100 gas vs. a $500 shopping spree or show tickets or free play?

It doesn't take much for casinos to rope in normal players with those promotions--you know that. Higher gas prices will stop only those on welfare, unemployment, food stamps, and other such entitlements--of which California is well known for handing out at will in order to demotivate these slugs from getting jobs while the state whines about its bankrupt status--will feel a pit in their stomachs over it. But when these lower level slobs can't do the drive to LV, you can be sure you'll see them guzzling the booze and puffing on cigarettes at their closest Indian casinos.
