Well either you did something close or I have you mixed up with a different Bo character. Either is possible. I thought there were 2 members here who started with Bo* but it is entirely possible I've gotten it all mixed up. I can't say forum membership here was ever very important. I just got pulled into here because of all the rough n tumble forum drama and I'm a bitch for that shit.

You are correct in that there used to be someone from the New Jersey area who I believe used the handle Bosox on boards such as WOV that I only read. At least it was different where I see the capital S in there. I think it was by chance that two people posting on different boards ended up with a very close handle.

Account has TheBoz conflated with BoSox. That clears that up a bit. Boz hasn't posted in some time.

If I played blackjack, I'd never meet anybody. There's no percentage to it unless you're on the ropes and need to team up.

If mickey stuck to gambling, he and monet and kewlJ would have had the most helpful posts here vis-a-vis gambling. Unfortunately, if people followed mickey's take on reality regarding covid and election fixing with the same trust that they took his gambling discussions, well, they got led into a lot of misadventures in living.

Back when Alan ran the forum, I'd occasionally try to be majorly helpful. For example, I posted a detailed list of how to check futures in LV based on the premise of being a visitor. I ran down which books were under each umbrella, the independents, the likelihood of end-of-bell-curve numbers, and even where to park and what sequence to visit them in based on how much time you had.

l stopped being helpful after the "package to Alan" fiasco. I mean, really, the folks on these forums know just about nothing regarding sports betting. You had "Singer" advertising that he was betting parlays. You have monet posting parlays of NFL playoff games and hockey games. You have Shackleford betting parlays. It's turnip truck stuff.

Before I said it, did anyone even know that, back in the 80's and 90's, there was an annual publication in Las Vegas summarizing the results from what was (originally) more than a hundred handicappers? Well, actually, now that I think about it, the blackjack pro who posted briefly here in response to kewlJ did have all the issues of the report. He stopped posting here after about a half dozen posts. But other than him, did anyone know?

I need to point out that, when it comes to sports betting, one has to really grasp at straws to try to undermine some claims. Now Garnabby said nothing is verifiable. Well, Garnabby, there are pages from McCusker Reports posted in the Retro Road Trip thread. Yeah, they were ages ago, but they were verifiable. Everything I do is pretty verifiable, as partners have email records of every play I've made for more than the last 10 years. A couple of my partners -- one an actual financial advisor -- send me week-to-week summaries of all plays as a kind of permanent record. So when I say I did x, I did x.

There's a bunch of people here I'd buy a drink. But the last blackjack I played was at Boomtown.

Oh yeah, I'll mention this. I'm 99.9999% sure kewlJ is legit, based on some exchanges I had with the blackjack pro who had all of the McCusker Reports. The guy had serious long-term gambling experience both from a practical and academic perspective.

Even though I give credit to Alan for keeping this place going, during the bleak years 2010-2013, this place was a ghost town and circle jerk, between 3-4 members, back in those days. No place is perfect, this place gets its moments as seen recently, with many diverse regulars who chime in regularly, to make this place interesting. Other then that useless turd Garnabby, this place has come a long way, for better or worse. There will always be people like Comrade Dietz, who prefer how things were ran here in the past, things change, life goes on.

Yes - thank you redietz. TheBoz. It was something similar. I do have them conflated. The other guy seemed far more normal. Bosox seems sketchy. TheBoz is the one I'd consider meeting. I really know very very little about Bosox now that it has been cleared up to me.

For the most part, people let their true colors out more on forums than real life. If someone has posted a lot on a forum you get a pretty good idea of what you're basically dealing with. I'm sure people can write little books on online meetups going south but thats just life. Gamblers are sketchy people.

WHAT?!? BoSox seems sketchy? You couldn't be more wrong. And I say that with my friend BoSox and I having had our moments of not getting along so well.

I presume it is just that you are not familiar with BoSox, being he is not a WoVer. But he is well known and highly respected throughout the blackjack community, participating on forums like BJ21, Norms blackjack forum and Blackjackinfo for 30 years. A lot like myself BoSox seems to enjoy steering some of the new players that pop up on those forums, in the right direction, answering questions and offering advise in a very non-condescending manner, which is a rarity on those forums, where many of the knowledgeable experienced players seem to want to jump on, put down and humiliate newer players asking newbish questions.

The only odd thing about BoSox is how out of place he is here on this forum. But like all of us, I suspect he enjoys a little drama, now and again (or everyday).

Account is probably one of the worst judges of character, on this forum take it with a grain of salt.

    Ozzy,

You're missing the value of the site back then. For those of who spent serious time in LV, when comp priorities of the casinos were changing quickly, people like Alan and other semi-high CET rollers were able to provide a footing for how comp systems worked and cross-sections of what doing various types of wagering could get you. For me, it was really helpful because these folks were able to lay out what betting at video poker or craps could get you at various properties.

At one time, when I began, sports comps and race comps were virtually identical. Then people actually did analyses and sports comps were cut to half race comps. Then cut in half again. Then reduced further at places like the Wynn. So to maintain any comps, sports bettors had to educate themselves on AP-type plays and get a sense of what provided what kinds of comps. In that sense, sports bettors started doing what kewlJ has been doing. Small-scale (compared to main gig) AP-ing to keep comps flowing.

This site was good for that.

Thank you for the kind words KJ. I really enjoy this site with the everyday excitement, that pops up everywhere. Besides, I think that you already know this, that one of those sites that you just mentioned is managed very tight. And, I have no idea at all just how many posts I made that were deleted for breaking one rule or another.

Oh yes, I forgot to say that Tasha is also a member there.

I too had quite a number of posts removed and I am not talking about posts in a thread that got out of hand, so an entire thread was deleted. I think we are both talking about good, contributing posts that were deleted out of spite.

In my case, I had one of the highest "helpful ratings" on that forum. I never cared for that feature, because it always had the potential to be a popularity contest. So towards the end, posts that I made that had positive helpful ratings were deleted, while posts that had unhelpful rating (from T3 and flash) because of all the feuding remained. It was clearly a "spite" thing, by a guy that holds a grudge for eternity.

Yes I am aware. And that says all you need to know about the direction that forum has taken.

Actually, I am not opposed to Tasha participating there under the handle he/she is using (now). I didn't like him/her participating on blackjack forums under the handle "blackjackpro" but he/she changed it when I requested, and this one is fine. He/she asks newbie questions that other newbies might be afraid to ask, so sort of serves a useful purpose.

The strange part to me is why does Tasha have a desire to participate on a blackjack forum, when he/she has no real interest in blackjack. But whatever.

There was some appeal back then, just a lot of HUGE dry spells, because of the lack of people and diversity. The only people that really participated back then were you, Alan, Singer, Arci(great guy probably past away) Slingshot and Regnis. Very limited content several dozen threads with ZERO responses. The arrival of DanDruff really kickstarted this place overall, for the better. He USED to start a lot of great threads, to keep this place energized, especially during downtimes.

As opposed to the "Poll" feature on this site, which the tewl loves,
and always has the potential to be a popularity contest.

Obviously, I have too much time on my hands today. Four inches of snow. Doesn't snow you in in Pennsylvania, but it limits you when you live on the side of a little mountain in Tennessee.

I was reading KJ's signature quote from Dan Druff and the title of this thread. It's sad. If you take away the non-math bullshitting by Singer, he had real good Las Vegas knowledge stretching back decades, presumably before wrecking his bankroll. He knew what was what and who was trying to do to whom around town. It's terrible that he went off the rails.

I was reminded of this because the print edition of Gaming Today will cease publishing after the SB. GT was sold, and the print edition will be no more. When I was hanging in LV 100 days out of each year for decades, I could count on picking up GT in the sports books and often seeing Rob's smiling puss on the front page. He got placed on the front page quite often, which was pretty weird because GT also had columns by video poker APs who were in direct contradiction to "Singer's" column. GT's print version becomes a bit of history. Glad I finished in the top 10 of the last NFL contest. Maybe they do it going forward; maybe not.

I look at Rob Singer as an educated Archie Bunker.

Not necessarily sketchy as in stab you in the back and take your money. Just doesn't seem together mentally enough that I'd risk meeting him.

Very similar in personality, except Archie was successful and famous, Singer was the opposite. Great writer though

Most of what Archie Bunker says or believes is 100%!

  20. #460
Archie was a pioneer, said what he had to say and was funny as hell.
