Thread: Video Game Reco and or Review

I heard that phones with Flappy Bird on them can fetch serious money.
    I never played the game.

Since Play Station 5 launched I decided to buy a used PS4 and 20+ used games.
It doesn't take long for these games to get to 10 dollars or less.
I picked up many from $2.50 to 99 cents.

Best Family Game so far has to be Rayman Legends.
Seem to be getting my 9 dollars worth for that game.

I usually play games on the PC but this console is good for some family fun.
The racing games/simulator on the ps4 seem good enough to purchase a wheel and rig.

    I'm mixed about Tetris Effects.
It should be better once you can play multiplayer.

I bought FIFA 18 for 99 cents and its good enough for me for that price.

I bought a bunch of other games as well but I'm not as interested as I was years ago.

Thanks Monet. If I get back into video games I may go this route (originally I was thinking about getting the Amico if I decided to get back into video games which is an Intellivision reboot but I don't think it can play the old Intellivision games, just new ones).

I would like to recommend Ghosts n' Goblins (coin-op version) which was made in 1985 by Capcom. This game was far ahead of its time. The graphics were amazing for the time and it wasn't that easy of a game to finish.

    The NES ending was classic...."Congraturation!"

Too funny JBJB. I only have experience with the coin-op version I used to see at various arcades, laundromats, pizza parlors, and convenience stores in the mid 80's. I tried the sequel Ghouls n' Ghosts also, which was fun, but the original was really amazing.

There are a couple of English errors in the arcade version too, but they did spell "congratulation" correct at the end.

All the fallout games and DLCs are on sale in the Microsoft store. You can skip 76 imho.

    Thanks.
Good to see you as you pop in once in awhile to this site.
My console days might be over.
I still break out my Nintendo and play as well.
Playing the PS4 on my 65 QLED Screen is a bit too much.
As a matter of fact I bought this Samsung because of the glare reduction.
However, I found out later that it supposedly omits huge amounts of Blue Light.
Either it does or I am getting old as I find it way too bright and gives me eye problems.
Probably should of stuck with the Sony I took back.
We make choices and we live with them.

Games these days, have too many buttons for me lol.
    I'm losing interest fast.
One game that has hooked me for 29 years now is the Civilization Franchise.
I usually play on my PC but I have played it on the PS3 and iphone.
They just added new content yesterday so I spent 12 hours messing with it.
Civ VI sucks compared to Civ IV or V but its tough to go back to the older titles for me.
The way they developed Babylon is kind of unique.
I don't expect anyone to get into this game, as it is complicated, if you haven't played before.
Of course, once you learn the game, it can become very boring if you are looking for a challenge against the AI on the most difficult level/settings.

Unfortunately, having "Round Eye" syndrome causes these obstacles. Oriental people that have "slant eyes" can play the games without any kind of hindrance for hours on end.

You may be onto something here!
However, I have been wasting my life away with video games since 1979/80.
It all started with Breakout, in some bar, at Tanglewood Campground PA, where my father was getting drunk.
He was getting drunk all the time because of those Damn Gook, Slant Eyed bastards he fought and killed during the Vietnam War.
According to him, the NVA (North Vietnamese Army) were no Fucking Joke and killed many of his pals.
The Viet Cong (National Liberation Front of Southern Vietnam or FNL) on the other hand, were a bunch of Slant Eyed Pussies.

Anyways, it wasn't long after that the Arcades were all the rage in the early 80s.
Next up was Atari and after that was Nintendo and other consoles.
Later in the 90s came home gaming on the PC.
I've probably wasted 20,000 to 30,000 hours in front of video games.
That is roughly 8% of my total hours from the time I started playing video games
Heck, I've probably slept 33% of my life away.
I have no idea how to explain such a waste of life to God.
I'm sure I will have some time to think about it, in the invisible fire, for the rest of eternity.

That doesn't include all the hours of Video Poker.
Needless to say my eyes are starting to break down or break apart.
I'm starting to see a black Eye Floater everywhere in my left eye these days.
I'm sure the new style of this QLED doesn't help.
The damn Jjokbari TV is seriously bright.
Jjokbari is a Korean Slur by the way.
Of course the Koreans use it against the Japs but why split noodles?
No reason to stop now as the end should be near within 40 days to 40 years.
Might as well go blind and see how long I can last before I shoot myself in the head.
The only problem is deciding on which gun to use.
I keep debating from the 45 to the 12 guage with a steel slug.
Of course after watching Full Metal Jacket it appears my M1A with the 7.62 x 39 would be highly effective.
I think the best way would be to just jump off the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge while shooting myself in the head in mid free fall.
They say that men tend to use multiple methods when committing Harry Carry or Harakiri and it is far more effective.
I like the idea of using Velcro to strap two sticks of dynamite on each side of my head.
I read that in the comments once so it wasn't my idea.
I knew a kid who did it with a shotgun in his parents closet when we were 15 years old.
    I guess he showed them!
30 years later, I realize, We all got it coming in the end.

There were the Mom and Pops and there were the chains.
Chains I remember:Bally Aladdins Castle, Timezone, Tilt,Namco Cyberstation
Mom and Pops: I won't mention these since they would only have meaning for those that lived in my area.

Those were fun times, for me at least.
I liked the small ones that you consider Mom and Pop.
I can remember a few that were in really tight areas, jammed packed, filled with smoke.
Always fun to watch some guy crushing Defender or Phoenix on only one quarter!

How many of you knew that the famous blackjack player Ken Uston was one of the first people to discover that the ghosts in Pac-man had patterns and was "beatable"? Beatable as in being able to get to the "kill screen" (level 256) without dying.

Thanks JBJB, I didn't know that. He would murder that Space Invaders vulturable slot I bet if he were alive.

It would be quite interesting if he were still alive to see how he'd attack all of the casino games that are vulnerable to AP.

Here's another cross-over. Larry Demar (AKA LED who is in the video poker hall of fame), who invented multi-strike video poker along with some other popular video poker variants, is a legendary pinball programmer (The Addams Family) and video game programmer.

We play the hell out of the "High Speed" pinball game here. A party store around the corner from me was the hang out place in the 80's. They had about 6 or 7 arcade games and usually 2 pinball games. The wrestling game "Mat Mania" was hugely popular (Darth Vader, ZZ Top and Superman are in the crowd) until Double Dragon and Street Fighter came along.

    I can't stay away.

When Microsoft launched game pass ultimate enabling PC play the way they did it you could upgrade for $1 and that was good for the life of your gold membership.
What everyone did (me included) is to extend gold for the max then take advantage of their game pass upgrade so we ended up with 2 years of ultimate for $1.
It's kinda nice to have the flexibility when my kids have the console and I want to play. Not sure I would have done it if I didn't have competition for the console.

Sorry to hear your eyes are giving you trouble. I'd check to see if your TV has a smart switch to video game mode or if a brightness adjustment would help. Also, a TV with a higher refresh rate might be a solution.

Thanks JBJB. High Speed is credited as having saved pinball. The designer, Steve Richie, is known for fast playing pinball machines with great flow and High Speed was, true to its name a very fast playing game as you know. Once I have the return lanes lit on it, I shoot the ball when it is at the end of the flipper (Alley Pass) so that it goes up the return lane on the opposite side and relites the left kickback (plus it lights the spinner on the opposite side). Steve is a car fiend so that is why he loved making these fast car-themed games (same with High Speed II The Getaway).
