Thread: Harrah's New Orleans to become Caesars New Orelans, including massive renovation over next 3-4 years

I had a feeling this would happen eventually. Harrah's New Orleans was clearly the nicest Harrah's in the country, and was more in line with being part of the Caesars brand. In fact, I felt Harrah's New Orleans was on par with the two other non-Vegas Caesars properties -- Windsor and Atlantic City.

Caesars announced they're investing $325 million to build a new hotel tower and renovate the existing Harrah's New Orleans, which has existed since 1999. The transformation will not be complete until 2024. It's not clear when it will change names.

The casino will also be expanded, as the second story of the current Harrah's New Orleans casino has a good deal of unoccupied space, and this will be filled.

This property has enjoyed a monopoly, as it's the only casino in the popular French Quarter area of New Orleans. There are two other casinos in New Orleans, but they are much smaller, not located nearby, and aren't considered serious competition.

Here's an artist's rendering of the new tower:

I hate to be a stickler Dan (ok no I don’t) but there are no other casinos in New Orleans....there is one in Kenner and one in Harvey.

    You're both wrong.

The Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots is the other casino within the New Orleans city limits.

mcap is correct with regard to the location of the other two properties, which are in neighboring Jefferson Parish.

EDIT: And if you want to count the bars and a couple of "truck stop" casinos that offer state-run video poker machines, there are technically then several hundred casinos in Orleans Parish.

The state-run machines are actual Class III video poker machines with a random deal... just with horrible paytables that are statutorily capped at 95% RTP. Montana has a similar setup, though with a lower max bet and a higher allowable RTP at 98% I believe. The two states have many similar games and game platforms.

I love Harrahs NO, it’s a no smoking casino and the Harrahs theme fits the city. That said, it was due for an upgrade, both the hotel and the casino.

I will also say the hotel has the friendliest employees across the Caesars chain.

I was there in 2015, when the video poker was still top notch for a(Caesars property) and I thought the hotel at the time was bordering on 4 stars, the casino floor was looking tired and dated though.
