That property was in the news about 2 years ago, as being sold or proposed sale to a group of black investors, including some descendants of the original owners. I guess that sale fell through, probably financially.
I gotta say, I don't see it. That is a terrible location for a casino. It is a really bad rundown, slummy area, with no access to the nearby highway. If you were looking for a location to build a casino, without interest to the history of that lot, that is a horrible spot. Now if you include the history of that lot and location, I don't think it changes much. In the 1950's the blacks were not allowed in the regular casinos except to work or perform (exception Sammy Davis Jr). So they wanted to have their own casinos and naturally the location picked was the black neighborhood. But it is not the 1950's any more. The blacks can and do go to any casino they want. So what is the attraction of a casino in a run down area in 2020?
My bet is it is never built and if it is, won't last long.
