Thread: Rincon gives away $1,000 of free play every ten minutes

  1. #1
In my monthly mailer from Rincon is an announcement that today, March 10th, the casino will be drawing a player's name (all players with TR who have played at Rincon get one free entry) every ten minutes from 10-am today till 10-pm today. If your name is drawn you have until 11:59-pm to get your $1,000 of free play. It is possible to have your name pulled more than once.

I called my host this morning and I said -- Gee, if my name is called, can you phone me and I'll drive down to get it. But I need about two hours notice.

My host just called. My name was picked. $1,000 of free play is waiting. Yikes. And my host tells me, it's possible I might be called again. Wow.

Why is it that whenever I am at a casino for a drawing, I never get "picked." But when I'm not there, I get picked.

About three years ago my name was called out at Hollywood Park Casino -- the poker joint near LAX airport. I had 60 seconds to show myself to pick a suitcase from a group of suitcases for up to $5,000 cash. I think that was the amount. But, I wasn't there.

Two years ago my name was picked for $1,000 cash at The Bicycle Casino, another poker casino.

Here's the problem: it's Saturday evening and my wife doesn't want to go. She said I can run down after dinner. "Just don't lose five thousand after you get your one thousand," she told me.

So... what would Singer do? Hey, for that matter, what would Dancer do? Doesn't he always talk about these kinds of drawings??

Congrats!! That is a cool win -- give us the details. How far a drive is it for you?

Just got back. It was about a 90 minute drive each way and about $60 gas (unfortunately I have to use premium which is $4.69 a gallon here) so I factored that into my "free play formula."

I did OK with it on 8/5 Aces or Faces (bonus variation) at the $5 level, and after my initial "run thru" I had $975 in cash from the free play. I had several full houses. in fact, my very first push of the button on the free play was a dealt full house for $200.

This gives me some ammo for future trips.

Since I arrived at the casino just before midnight, the cut off time, I got to see the complete sheet of "winners" and some lucky people actually had their names pulled twice or even three times. Number of entries was based on the amount of play on Saturday -- plus all Total Rewards players had one free entry.

While I was there and not playing much, I got to look around at the "card craps" game and actually sat down and bought in for $100 -- which I lost. It was a $10 table and I really limited my betting to the passline and placing three of the inside numbers.

At Rincon two dice are thrown -- a red and a green -- and the numbers on the dice determine which of six red cards and which of six green cards is chosen to represent the hand.

So the shooter might throw 4 and 4, and the cards would reveal 6 and 1 for a seven-out.

When the shooter at the far end of the table was throwing to my end, I felt awfully confused when the dice would land on 6/5 but the cards would show 1/2.

There is an automated card shuffler and the cards are reshuffled after every roll of the dice. I found it strange to watch the dice and see one result and then have to remind myself that the dice don't matter -- it's the cards that the dice choose that matter.

    Congratulations, Alan.

BTW, did you mean to lock the thread on changing denominations again?

Alan, do they have 9/6 DD Aces and Faces? In case you didn't know it pays better than 8/5 Bonus A/F. I think it is about 99.46%. Plays very close to DDB with only a few changes in strategy.

Arc the other thread is UNlocked. I don't know how that happened.

I never saw that other game at Rincon. Thanks.

Rincon is having this promotion on April 10th... but I suspect it will be easier to win money this time since it's a Tuesday and a regular work day for many. Unfortunately I won't make it, and I think a lot of video poker players won't be there either because of the changes to the pay tables. So some penny slot players might get a big surprise.
