Thread: Midweek casino shutdowns

  1. #1
I just saw that some strip casinos and all or some related operations are shutting down mid-week, typically Mon-Thurs or Mon-Wed due to lack of traffic.

    Here is a link:

It is going to be quite a while before Vegas rebounds, especially the strip.

The only thing somewhat normal is the weekend traffic from California. But what is missing and pretty much non-existent is the air travel from the rest of the U.S. and overseas.

Typically at this time of year, if you walk the strip and downtown, you see lots of people from the Midwest sporting Ohio State, Wisconsin, Packers, Bears, Michigan shirts, sweatshirts, hats, as well as people from the east coast, in their Steelers, Patriots, and Various New York "gear", all escaping their winter weather for a bit.

You also see (and hear) people from Australia. It is their summertime, when many vacation and there are always a lot here this time of year.

This year you just aren't seeing much of these groups....the air travel groups.

As we get into January and February, the big thing in Vegas is conventions. That is convention season and there are no conventions.

It is going to be a while for Vegas tourism, especially the air travel to bounce back.

LV will never "rebound" back to anything even close to what it once was. Even before the pandemic the Strip had a sense of panic in the air, with the hotels and their desperate "resort fees" and parking fee nonsense. All the stupid optimism talk about "the future" coming from the owners etc. is nothing more than them crying out for dumbasses to come to town and spend their money--especially what they get from this socialist stimulus stuff--which most degenerates are more than happy to do.

The only thing keeping LV hanging on by a thread now are all the idiots and fools from California arriving for their weekend warrior shit. And who can blame them, as they risk anything to get away from that moronic 14% tax, high prices everywhere, homeless drug addict bums all over their streets, foolish lockdowns, runaway crime with easy or no bail and crimes under $950 being given a free pass, and many of the poor suckers having no way out of their miserable situation. It's a weekend getaway to forget about how trapped in a horrific position they find themselves in....which of course only exacerbates things as they lose whatever they have.

It's Game Over for that town, and it'll see an even bigger influx of foreigners and minorities from California thinking that's where they can get their hands on all sorts of money. The Rat Pack would need to rise from the dead and entertain the masses there once again for it to have any chance at all.

Rob, if you're right in your assumptions does that mean that your RV is now worth more money than KewlJ's condo?

Don't forget about the degens who come to stay downtown after settling their spouse's parents estate. They lose their life roll with bad strategy and now they're traveling down the path of repeat performance. My bet is the Vegas lights stay on.

I hate to admit the casinos have a hold on my attention. These 3 weeks I find my mind wandering occasionally to " what if" I tried again. Fortunately, my family and the holidays have filled most of my thoughts.

Agreed, people should never underestimate, the amount of Stupid and or Degenerates that there are, coming from all over the world, that will still head to Vegas, with there new found wealth. Especially due to the fact, that the aging boomer population, are starting to take there dirt naps, within the next 10 years. There will be no shortage of 6 and 7 figure trust fund kids, salivating at the chance to squander it all in short order.

"The world" won't be climbing over each other on flights from Europe or Asia to come to LV anymore. What's that max? Oh that's right----youve never been anywhere and have no idea what it's been like on international airlines over the years coming into LA and LV. You've been perfectly happy being an anonymous cowards with a big scary mouth making believe you understand what the rest of the world is like. We'll find out exactly how brave a LV casino rat like you is in a couple of weeks. And if you had any of that purported worldly know-it-all bravado that you love to display in front of a half dozen other anonymous cowards, you'd be questioning me on how it was we stayed two nights at Circa several weeks ago when the hotel portion just opened up on the 28th of Dec. Not as smart as you need others to think you are, are you..... Do you ever get anything right?

People from overseas with money to burn are learning how to take their business elsewhere, as there are plenty of worldwide casino locations not under liberal lockdown paranoia while LV continues to take their lead from that loser Newsome. The only things that'll remain the same in LV are the high % of social problems and crime among locals, and the numbers of California flakes who zoom into town on the weekends.

I don't go a lot. But I do get around a fair bit. Obviously no 2020 international travel. But 2019 was Spain and 2018 was Italy. Rob you get all worked up because I've got your number pegged....lol

Yep, and I before you. And Arci, redietz and others before me, including mickeycrimm. It isn't hard to figure Rob out. He is a lifelong losing degenerate gambler employing bizarre losing strategies, like progressive wagering and stop limits that some how "magically" makes him a winner. And when people don't believe that (because it defies math), well he will just steal someone else's claim that he read about in the news, like the double up bug claim.

And when you call him out, he gets nasty with personal attacks. That is how you know you have him pegged 100%.

And none of it is new. It has been going on for 20 years!

The guy bounces around living off his children. Tell me what other multi-millionaires do that?

To be honest, I feel bad for him at times. All he has now is these fantasies of what he wanted to be, as opposed to what is. Umm....that is alternate reality type stuff and there seems to be more and more of it occurring on these boards. If Rob really wants to stay relevant (as he fights to do), what he needs is a many hundred page thread, with a catchy name like the "adventures of huckleberry Singer".

I would definitely watch a series of him traveling the trails of America in a Newell in search of leftover Double Up Bug glitches. Would be more entertaining than Inside the Edge.

Perhaps, the best definition of life is, one television in another (in another in another... .)

Every one /everyone knows it all; yet, no thing /nothing is truly known by any one /anyone. Similarly, the suckers think that they win, but, the house always wins, unless to hand out an even worse beating.

With all over the slot YouTubers, Rob would fit right in. I'd watch.

I would give bonus points to the show if the film crew allows Grandpa Newell to put his feet up on the bed too. Guy deserves that much.Name: 8555.jpeg

This picture of Rob not being "allowed" to put his feet on the bed is actually the second funniest thing in the series of pictures.

For me anyway, the funniest is the picture of Rob in the drivers seat. Of course not actually driving the vehicle....that would have been impressive, but while the vehicle is parked and not just parked anywhere, but parked at the dealership, with other RV's right outside the window. You just can't make this stuff up!

You know what it reminded me of? When I was 4 or 5, and visiting my grandfather in Pennsylvania, he took me to the firehouse where he was a volunteer fireman. We took pictures of me in fireman's hats and gear and pictures of me right up there in the drivers seat driving the fire truck (while it was parked of course). JUST LIKE ROB TOOK! All fantasy stuff.

I think it's understood the directors would green screen any and all driving scenes. Can't risk any front end calamities.

Interesting,,,,I got the impression that he thought that might be the bathroom and wasn't sure whether to hold the wheel and drive or take a dump.
