Thread: Vaccine side effects

  1. #21
I'm not an anti-vaxxer. I've had every vaccine known to man and never had an adverse reaction. I'm looking forward to taking the covid vaccine. Our new republican Montana governor somewhat changed the CDC guidelines for adminstering the vaccine. It moved me from group 1C up to 1B.

They haven't finished with group 1A yet. We have a website to schedule appointments for taking the vaccine. They take appointments as they get the doses. No more appointments being taken this week until Thursday at 9 AM. The appointments for the vaccine can be 3 to 10 days after the appointment is made.

Websites have made it easy to follow the covid situation in Montana. We have a population of 1,060,000. The stats are updated daily.

I am not here to argue immunity and antibodies with you mickey. On this one we are all on the same side and want the same thing. But it is my understanding hat there is no common number in terms of antibodies for people who have had covid and recovered. The number depends on a number of variables, including the viral load the person contracted, how sick they were (related to viral load) and even then still fluctuates person to person depending on how strong their immunity system is and other health factors.

Whatever the antibody count is just after recovery it is going to begin to decline in a matter of months to where somewhere about 6 months out, the number is likely to drop below 1.4, at which point you no longer register as testing positive for antibodies. BUT you still have them.

AND antibodies are only part of the immunity equation. Based on the SARs outbreak in 2003, which is very similar, there is something called Bcells which retain memory of the virus and will identify a second infection very quickly (much quicker than initial infection) and ramp up making antibodies, immediately. This means the person may contract the virus a second time but will either not become sick or if they do it will be very mild to the point they probably wouldn't even think it was covid, just a cold.

And it is my understanding the vaccine works the same way. Upon being vaccinated, you will likely produce antibodies at a good number for a number of months, probably 5-6, similar to having covid and recovering and then those antibody numbers will decline to where it no longer registers. But the same thing is going on, the Bcells retain memory of the virus and will ramp up defenses very quickly upon detecting it again.

I am glad you are being pro-active in getting the vaccine and that being in a small state is likely to benefit you in getting it earlier. Good health to you sir.

Estimated time on my state’s website for when I can get it: May-December. Rotlmfao, pretty wide range. All I know is if this is supposed to be an annual thing like the flu shot, as they’re predicting it will be, they better get their shit together and make it semi convenient for people to get it if they actually expect people to get vaccinated.

We've got a long way to go in Montana. Only 19K fully immunized with 67K having their first shots. It's averaging about 4K first dosers a day. We are still in group 1A....which is rather larger now. The Governor moved the age from 75 down to 70 on this group. I'm in the next group, 1b.

They'll start a new round of making appointments today starting at 9 AM. I won't know until 9 AM but I don't think it will move to my group this week.

My nurse practitioner called me yesterday. I'm scheduled for the pneumonia and shingles vaccines but she doesn't want to administer them until after I do the covid vaccine.

I'd rather get the China flu than shingles.
Take off that stupid mask you big baby.

I am guessing you haven't had covid then. Or maybe you were one of the lucky ones who only got mildly sick. Can I ask how old you are?

Deaths in the U.S. are approaching half a million in only 10 months and still escalating. By the time we hit the year mark in March Deaths will be right there with the 600 thousand that die from ALL cancers each year. And besides the deaths, about 10% or more people that have had this virus and recovered have some sort of long-term effect, including heart, lung, kidney, and brain issues.

I had this virus in April, was sick for a whole month, and then had a complication issue related to heart 3 months later. And while I am recovered, my lungs still are not what they were before I contracted covid. I probably have some scarring in my lungs. My younger brother contracted covid the same time as me and was fine, with only mild symptoms, but I have another family member currently in the hospital, really struggling at the moment.

Don't minimize this virus. It is a nasty illness that we as a people and many people individually will be dealing with for a long time. It is not political and should have never been made political. This virus is a bad hombre.

Just had the 1st of two shingles vaccines - in the event that you don't know, prepare for a very sore shoulder and I would suggest not getting it on your dominant side.

Mickey and others interested, there is some very discouraging news out today about the current vaccines. While they are 90 and 95% effective against the current strains of covid, for which they were designed, they are only 50-55% effective against the new South African Strain, which scientists expect to become the dominate strain in the next couple months.

This means at some time in the near future they will have to "adjust" the current vaccine and people who received the first 2 shots will need a booster shots at some point to protect against that new dominate strain.

I fear this could be an ongoing things. Viruses mutate. That's what they do. I am afraid, every time this damn thing mutates, we will have to adjust the vaccine and get a booster shot.

Still better than getting sick and dying though.

Big pharma and the government fear mongers are going to have you lining up for life wearing your face diapers to get boosters. What's new?

To be fair you are talking about kewlJ.
Do you really expect her to do anything different?

I'm more surprised that other members of VCT are getting in line and or taking other vaccines.

If an individual wants to increase their immunity they may want to follow the ICEMAN's example.
For those that do not want to believe in the Bible they can look to Wim Hof who has beaten Science inside a controlled laboratory setting.
Not only did he do it himself but he took many people and trained them in just a couple days to transform their minds and bodies.
    BREATHE MOTHERFUCKER!

Win Hof is incredible. I once considered seriously taking a class. But I really hate the cold.

It shouldn't be hard for a person of your caliber and military background to get his mind right.
    That would be step one.
Step two would be to focus on the breathing techniques to the point of experiencing blackouts, hallucinations and the temporary loss of some motor skills.
Step three would be to acclimate yourself to the cold with cold showers trying to increase your time as you focus on your breathing.
Once you got used to cold showers without moving back to warm/hot water you can move to step four which would be ice baths.
This is all just mind over matter and takes as much time as you are willing to put into it.
I have no doubt that you could do it and be very successful at it within days or weeks.
I highly doubt that it would take you months to master it.
Obviously you just don't want to or you do not feel that it is worth the effort.
It could be a problem that you don't have a buddy or support group doing it with you.
That always seems to speed up any process dealing with this sort of thing.

The whole thing is the breathing technique.
If you are doing it right, you should have no loss of core body temperature.

Sort of like our discussion about Carbon Steel Woks or Iron Woks.
It seems you would rather spend your time doing other things.
    Which is fine.
As I said we only have a limited amount of time in our current body or lifespan.
You are somewhat of a math guy and if you crunch the numbers you will find that it is very difficult to get away from that 40 year old average.
The 77 year old average lifespan is basically new and a very skewed number.
Even if you make it to 120 years old, you still have to go through the experience of physical death.

The main point is that an individual should be currently focused on strengthening their immune system.
This obviously can be done other ways through exercise, diet, nutrition and vitamins.
However, the breathing and ice water is moving up another level or two or three.
Nothing can beat the sheer power of the mind though.
You can pretty much do or beat anything if you got your mind right.
Today you may say or think you hate the cold but if you focused your mind you could transform into embracing and loving the cold forever.

I have no doubt that I could deal with the cold weather. I am of Danish descent after all. When I was younger I spent much time and many cold nights without a tent in the woods. I grew up surfing the cold Pacific in Huntington Beach. I have practiced some of Wim's breathing techniques but feel that I don't really know Wtf I am doing.
But now that I am over 50 and getting somewhat soft due to a life of leisure. I find myself wanting to experience things that involve physical discomforts, but keep asking myself, Why? I do think a person would get a lot out of one of his Poland retreats. I believe you would come away with much more than you could with a book or video. That guy is a natural inspirer.

Your point is well taken Monet. I don't feel I am conflicted regarding my disposition of not wearing a mask except when forced to (shopping/casinos) and vaccinations for other issues as I have not been outspoken in regards to vaccinations for these other ailments (Polio, standard flu, hepatitis C, shingles, tetanus etc.) here on VCT or anywhere else. Like your in-laws, I think I caught Covid the 1st half of this last March and it wasn't a big deal. I did not pursue the shingles shot, but when I was getting a renewal on a migraine medicine prescription, I was offered the shot and said sure.
Anyhow, just as you write, we don't live forever so no point in stressing out about it too much. So people who have trained their minds to block out pain and discomfort have done themselves a huge service - it is not the dying that is disconcerting to me, but rather the pain that often accompanies it which I'm not a big fan of (hope I go in my sleep when the time comes - wishful thinking most likely).

I was actually thinking about this the other day. People of yesteryear just got on with it. I don't think Cholesterol screening even started until the early 80's right ? And triglyceride/lipid screening is even more recent. I could just have a Coke and Tylenol combo for headaches/migraines rather than migraine medicine (as I am untrained for blocking out pain) if I didn't have basic health insurance and leave the rest to mother nature. So determining when it is better to go the home remedy route versus medical establishment treatment is definitely a good skill to master since the medical establishment causes a lot of deaths.

Wim Hof is a beast, I'm a big proponent of cold weather thermogenesis. I consistently go through the majority of winters, with shorts/t-shirt only. I've been doing this for the last 10 years, the health benefits are enormous. Brown fat is activated through cold exposure and is great for the battle of the bulge. It's extremely invigorating, to go out in the middle of winter with minimal clothing and get quite the adrenaline rush from it. Will do this daily, for as long as I can tolerate it, it's greaaat!

    No Worries tableplay.
My comment was directed at MC and others more so than yourself.
MC throws me for a loop on occassion.
Sometimes it seems like he is doing a complete 180 on certain topics.
I have no beef with him or what he does or believes.
He just makes me do a double take on occasion from his stance on Harvey Milk, Gay Activism, eating fast food after a major heart operation/problem and some movie choices.
I don't expect that from the information he shares about how violent he is in certain situations since the way he talks reminds me of how my Father used to talk.
    You feel Froggy???
    Jump!
I didn't expect him to be so Gung Ho about the Chink Vaccine.
My wife will be taking it eventually but I refuse.
I shook hands with a basic stranger the other day... that felt really good as I haven't done it in months.
Not very easy to actually find someone who will shake hands with you these days.
I heard that Florida is all out though with strangers hooking up and even kissing in public with one another.
Good Movie that Gung Ho (1986).

We all have to do what we think is best for ourselves.
The individual should have the power to choose.
I'm against the current overreach of power from our government.

I had some vaccines when I was a baby.
    I never had the Chickenpox.
Shingles could be a problem for me down the road.
I don't like anyone injecting me as I really don't know what is in that syringe.
    I haven't had a Tetanus Shot in 30 years.
I rarely go to the doctor.
I personally hate what their profession has become in the States.
I still believe my 45 automatic is the best medicine and insurance for my own self.
I still have that lump in my chest though but Fuck That Lump.
When its time to die... its time to die.

Ben Greenfield is also very knowledgeable on the whole brown fat, thermogenesis subject.
