Thread: north strip

I understand Ruffin of TI bought Circus Circus, and the new, nearby Resorts World will open fairly soon; could this lead to the much hoped for north strip renaissance?

Let us not forget that at one point CC was a very profitable casino, perhaps the most profitable one on the strip, back when Las Vegas attempted to reinvent itself as a family destination.

I stopped in Circus Circus once in the covid era, probably Sept or Oct. It was a shell of itself. There were no table games open and the open spaces on the floor made it seem like some machines had been taken out. Exited through Slots of fun and that was even worse. Big open spaces on the floor where machines used to be.

My guess is the property was purchased for the land value, should this northern strip revitalization, that has been talked about for a decade ever come about. MGM owns the lot directly across from the now rebranded Sahara (Sahara again....lol) I believe for the same reason. It is currently set up as an outdoor concert venue, but I don't believe they have had any concerts there even before Covid, dating back to the Oct 1 shooting in 2017.

From the highway Resorts World looks to be near completion. It was scheduled to open this summer. Don't know if that has been pushed back. Regardless, it is going to take more than just Resorts World opening to change the landscape at that end. Someone has to do something with that big blue monstrosity that is now literally crumbing....something like take it down and start over. In the 12 years I have resided in Vegas, that project has gotten a new name (the Drew) and not a single thing has been done to it.
