Hammonton on the way to AC was a central location for the Mob in the 80’s and 90’s. Joey Merlino had people there he trusted to manage their attempts to move into AC.

The stories of the wise guys back then are the stuff of legends.

    Big Italian-American population in Hammonton.

Also hometown of present-day mobsters Kellyanne Conway & Dr Jill Biden.

One of the most interesting, informative books I've read is "The Boardwalk Jungle" by Ovid Demaris: highly recommended.

It talks in large part about how the mob was involved when casinos came to Atlantic City.

A tale of corruption, greed, and hiding the ball: typical NJ.

My dad worked for Bally's in the early years: nobody fucked with the mob back then, it seems pretty much everybody was either on the take or looked the other way.

The notion employed in both AC and LV that having corporations own casinos and not mobsters will end mob involvement in casinos is, was and always will be a pipe dream.

Dang, just like "Old Home Day."

You're probably talking about the Middlesex / Bound Brook area.

Then it sounds like you moved to Pennsauken; down memory lane: Cooper river, Bishop Eustace HS.

We moved to south Jersey after my junior year in high school; that was emotionally brutal as I had to leave behind my dearly beloved girl friend.

    Life can be a bitch.

Sometimes I think I'd like to go back and look over the old neighborhoods, see how they've changed, but then I recall just how happy I was when I moved west and put NJ in my rear view mirror.

Back when I was a heavy drinker I ended up in the 24 hour cafe at Riviera at 4am or whatever and there was one guy in there. He was Italian. I was sitting a couple chairs away but they felt free talking amongst themselves (customer and waiter). I'm sure it was obvious I was druuuunk. Anyway, they were talking about the Riviera being the last place on the strip you could get a job by being connected sort of deal. How things had changed and such. I don't remember much of what they spoke about but that was the only time I've come across anything legitimately mob related in LV that wasn't a display of some sort.

That was a good place to happenstance into that bit of eavesdropping. Of course, it may or may not have been complete coincidence that the Rivera doubled as The Tangiers in the film Casino.

And you guys do know about the tunnels linking the Riv to the Stardust, right? Or perhaps you don't. Carry on.

For those hip oldsters, I did have a meeting or two in the suites behind and below the Stardust. Those were the days.

    Falling asleep here.

V, who here should give a shit about even the details of your tinfoil life, and the useless way it was destined to turn out?

In general, as much as the world is fundamentally totally corrupt on every level to every degree, let alone to do with specifically gambling, and the mob, it's as easy to pursue stuff that has nothing to do with crime, condoning it, and, talking about it. Let the criminal stuff to the criminals.

I mean, where in the hell is this sort of conversation, between, I guess, such total wannabe dip-shits supposed to go?

Ooh, I knew a guy who knew a guy... who met up with Redietz in one of those dumb tunnels literally in the middle of nowhere. Ha.

We lived on the other side of the Creek, but only a short bike ride to Discount Harry's and the Pennsauken Mart.

Plainfield is considered a top 5 worst place to live, and Haddonfield is a top 5 best, so that much hasn't changed, but Haddonfield never wanted the funk like Plainfield did...so there's that.

Pennsauken had what I consider to be the absolute BEST form of cheap entertainment, bar none, albeit only for a short while, around 1970 or so.

Back then Subaru had just arrived in the USA, they were an unknown company with headquarters in Pennsauken.

In order to get their name out there and develop goodwill they came up with a brilliant concept: Fast Track (sic), not sure how they spelled it.

They got bulldozers and dug a serpentine trench, maybe a quarter to a half mile total length of non-stop twists and turns (not sure of distance), about eight or so feet deep; they lined both sides of the trench with tires.

Subaru took their cars and added external roll bars and turned them loose to the curious public to race on their dedicated Fast Track.

For a buck or so we got to drive the cars balls to the wall on timed runs; if you lost it no problem, you bounced off the tires and kept on motoring.

Not sure how long it lasted, but it was a fantastic idea.

It was about as much fun as I could have with my pants on.

You're projecting. I have no desire to be a mobster doubt many on here do. If everyone is such a wanna-be blah blah then why the fuck do you bother posting here?

I think I'll go back to not reading your posts. You're the jerk-off's jerk-off.

One of my track buddies worked in the Stardust sportsbook upon opening. Great stories (what he remembers of them).

I wasn't projecting anything, especially given the vague nature of whom I referred to as wannabe dip-shits. I guess that you think that you are one of the dip-shits.

Again, I couldn't care less who reads my posts, or, more accurately here, who doesn't.

Because, I guess, it's much more important not to be a failure in one's own eyes than to appear to be famous and rich in the eyes of others.

I can take it, but, can you? Such honesty, I mean.

Well, as predicted with/without the fun- gematria and anagrams, V killed another thread by bringing up another simplistic fantasy dead-end subject that's been worked to death over and over, already, on every internet forum out there.

The guy who assumed that Pepe was a man, and, I guess, given the renewed silence here, the guy who assumed that Mathew Chapter 13 was a boy of thirteen named Mathew, a bible school dude going off about one of V's favorite lines, reap what is sown. Although, the last time he spit it out it was, sow what you reap. The guy who mistook a yo-yo for one yo. The guy who seems to make many of the same type of gross mistakes at least on line. But, who, in oblivion, well, mercilessly charges ahead in the imaginary war raging in his otherwise, essentially empty head.

Yes, he's a total dip-shit for trying to impose the same clown-act on me, and my very own theory of everything. The usual "arguments". Supposedly, according to V, it's the perfect one stolen from Hawking, but, who never had any such theory, to begin with. So perfect, hence, not so perfect, after all, but, then, by further failed reasoning, supposedly, one just made up, by me. No, it couldn't be an imperfect, ongoing theory that involved some real and actual math and physics, some genuinely fun puzzle solving, all as a lifelong pursuit and interest. Again, what kind of creep even tries to overturn such a worthy pursuit? Not cool.

Well, to the people dumb enough to take anything he writes, or utters, at all seriously, good luck with that.

Another of my lines is, "You can't destroy me, but, you may destroy yourself trying."

Corporations really fuck over the traditional mob for a couple of reasons. First is this:

the other is cause they are a mob themselves, but a legal one. they own the government these days.

They're all gangs. It's just that the biggest ones call themselves, the good guys.
