Blackhole and I talking about cheating and race fixing may have given some the wrong impression. First of all, race fixing usually involves multiple trainers and owners "stiffing" their horses to wind up with set result so that the trifectas and other gimmick bets pay huge. This takes a lot of collusion--think the Black Sox Scandal. While this does happen it is not that prevalent. On the other hand, there is probably only a small number of races in which illegal drugs or other supplements are not being used. I don't consider that race fixing--the trainer is trying to win at any cost. While the use of drugs may effect the outcome, it is different than trying to lose.

I agree with Key that the percentage of losing horse players is extremely high. I do not agree with Kewl's assessment that they are all losers and non-professionals based upon what he sees at the race book. There are a lot of pros, many way better than I will ever be, and they for the most part are quiet and keep to themselves. They also keep their opinions to themselves or their group. The loudmouths that you see at the race book are exactly what you think all horseplayers are. However, you are not seeing the pros. I socialize at the track but I don't discuss my picks other than with one or two friends who rely on me. I also try to avoid hearing the loudmouth's picks because I then find myself doing the Richard Dreyfuss and taking myself off of horses that I like just because I know the idiot touting that horse is a loser. So yes--the losers you see in the race book are just that.

Kewl--the inaccuracies in the workouts etc. is probably overstated. Yes they exist. But any pro does not rely on those numbers. They either keep their own charts and/or watch every race. I know what I see--I don't need the racing form to tell me. I no longer keep my own charts because I am getting too old for the time that it takes. But I have decades of charts in organized boxes in my basement. I do try to watch every race but that also takes a ton of time. That is a reason to limit the number of tracks or races that one plays. But please don't have the misconception that we are all losers and that you can't beat the game. There are many doing just that.

Would the owners of the horses who are NOT going to win ever be told so they could get sizable bets on the horses who are going to win?

Straight answer is no. You could make a long shot a favorite with a big mouth. There day will come.

It's always and only about the winner. Exacta and triple plays are on you. When your trainer gets the future racing condition books a lot of handicapping goes on between us and we discuss why a certain future race might be a good spot. We don’t go to any race and at the gate give the horse a line of coke. Drugging a horse is all based on the conditions at any given time and if it even has any effect on them. If something does work the big question is; could you get away with it?

I’ve never been involved or heard of a race where 3 different trainers were trying to bring 3 different horses on the board. If one trainer doesn’t have a legitimate chance of winning (which always comes first) they will help another trainer with a good chance, like sending their horse out front in crazy fractions only to burn out the front runner who does have a chance in order to help the others closer.

The drugs, collusion, cured sicknesses, type information never came around enough. You could go a month or 2 without a good push. You have to have balls and money to capitalize on those situations.

Don’t forget, because you know something special about a certain horse, there might be something even more special about a different horse you know nothing about. There are races you know are going to be a lock like the one I posted about before.

Also when they talk about extra or less pounds, that could be huge. 1/5 of a second difference in a race is one whole horse length.

Some insurance companies will pay for or subsidize the replacement in order to prevent paying out a future claim. That shit is bad news.

Time Limit ran out in 2020 to file a claim but Covid hit so they didn't finalize all claims.
I think this gave homeowners more time to file late.
We were getting mail about this problem back in 07/08 and I was like, its a Scam lol.
I kept throwing those postcards and letters away.
I was saying, nobody is going to replumb this whole house... ridiculous lol.
I was telling my wife, I'm not letting anyone come in here and bust holes everywhere and change out the fittings lol.
Turns out I was wrong as usual and that wouldn't work anyway... you need to rip all this pipe out... not just the fittings.
I guess this is a pretty serious issue and many people haven't been paid more than a few hundred dollars till the whole thing finalizes.
I think Clark County is different because they settled for a different amount.
Some issue about IPEX says its Nevada's Hard Water and Nevada says its faulty fittings/pipes.
So they settled for 90 Million but won't allow any more payments or claims to be made after that amount.
You probably know all this.

I figured it out today when I cut the hot and cold water pipes to install the Shower Valve and Shower Pipe/Head.
I noticed the pipe was able to bend in any shape and when I cut it I could see the aluminum ring inside.
I was thinking, this shit isn't the same as the stuff I bought.
And I was always curious why the colors were a different blue and orange instead of red.
I would of figured the two plumbers and professional remodeler would of spotted what this was right off the bat.
The plumbers didn't know what the orange pipes were, thought they were for sprinkler systems only lol.
Good thing I didn't let the pro install fittings and run PEX.

I threw two Shark Bite Caps on the pipes and they are holding for now.
Shark Bites aren't made for this pipe as the size is a .05 differential.
When I figured out I had Pex-Al-Pex, I kept searching online for fittings and was coming up empty.
No information on how to connect Pex-Al-Pex to Copper or PEX.
All I found was this stuff is used by a different company in Europe and they use a different brand pipe and a 2000 dollar tool to crimp different type of double O-Ring, Steel Capped Fittings.
After 45 minutes of research I realized we had KITEC and it is a very serious issue.
Might as well be Cancer for the House.
No Biggy... Just Life... Good thing to find out this way and not have a pipe completely burst on us.
Hopefully, we can get it all replumbed before that happens as this stuff is rated to have 100% failure, eventually, given enough time.
The worst part is I basically have to return all this sand, cement, tile and other supplies lol.
That's a lot of heavy lifting, driving and returning.
I guess I'll just have professionals remodel everything.
I'm figure 60k total for 2 bathrooms remodeled and whole house replumbed and that doesn't count if I will have to remodel the kitchen.
Copper Pipe under the Kitchen Sink but who knows what is behind the walls or in the floor.
I figure the real nightmare is if they buried KITEC under the foundation or not.

I guess one follow-up question to this part would be---on these infrequent exacta plays---how high can they get the rough probability of success? Would it be by way of stacking a race such that it consists entirely or horses trained by those three guys.

All exotic bets are never the concern. The win (1st) is all that matters and the only mission. Once you start trying to figure out who comes in second, you’re gambling. That doesn’t mean we won’t try.

Exactas could pay big money. If you’re certain you have the winner at a big price we’ll go after exactas. Catching a good exacta could turn a good win into a huge win.

Not sure how often we would catch any exactas. The amount of money wagered on the win bet was always the only concern while exacta bets were never anything you thought about till after the race. Although, if you catch the occasional big exacter bet it becomes a good night for a champagne dinner with wife, where you remind her how smart you are. (One liners should be coming)

You would never be able to full a race with a couple trainers. In fact, getting two different friendly trainers with a horse each in the same race is not easy. A coupled entry where the same owner could enter two of his own horses in the same race happens often. One of the horses would always help the one expected to win any way he could if there already wasn’t a plan in place. Also, if you bet on anyone of them you also get the other horse included on same bet, both with the same price and numbers.

A whole bunch of different things at different times must fall in place before considering why a certain horse should win. When it does happen you just hope your part of the small group that presently actually do know about what took place.

Tips are all over the track. Someone always knows someone, and if you look around enough you could get a tip on every horse in the race. Lol

Also, every push on a horse doesn’t mean it’s a long shot. Many go off as favorites or close to it.

Betting and winning on certain conditions were the main source of income. Without it you really wouldn’t take the abuse for very long. Most of it ends up back into the trainer’s coffers one way or the other.

Would I do it again knowing what I know now? Maybe at a more serious level.

Off to Ace Hardware; six bucks later, part in hand, I put it on but it leaked.

Damn.

Gooped the threads up with blue Permatex gasket sealer, screwed it on, and am letting it cure for a couple days.

No using that shower in the meantime but who cares, I'm married.
