I don't particularly care if Rob did it.

What fascinates me is how much Rob is emotionally invested. Everyone with half a brain has pretty much figured out the Newell was a joke but was it a joke? Was that actually Rob's sincere attempt at trying to be someone? Given his pages long defensive explanations one really starts to realize Rob wasn't joking with the Newell.

Best just let the old man save face.

He's very fascinating. For example in the GOAT YouTube interview with Alan, he's extremely well spoken and believable. No that doesn't mean I believe you owned a Newell or made millions with the Double Up bug Rob On the flip side, I have a very hard time believing he's been a failure in life, as UNKOOL1 repeatedly suggests, without proof ( other then trailer in Pahrump). Shits and giggles aside, everything known about him disproves that theory. Unless someone puts up credible proof, I believe he's lead a middle class life for the most part.

Newell or no Newell, the pictures posted, I am 99.9999999% sure, were not HIS Newell. It was as if no effort was taken for the picture to NOT appear staged; they were almost to the point of deliberately looking staged. It was honestly a brilliant bit of trolling on Rob's part---you have to figure that the goal isn't to PROVE anything. Proving it would be easily done in about 8,000 different ways. But, if the goal is to keep the conversation going and people ripping their hair out, well, here we are.

Don't know. Don't care. I was only concerned with his claims of gambling. Now Dan Druff suggested that Rob may have gambled away any money that he had or earned. I don't know about that either. I mean it seems like The former owner of this forum made a pretty good living for many years as a reporter I guess and now seems to have little to show for it other maybe a decent pension. It's very possible he's lost several million gambling over the last 25+ years, hence not having a pot to piss in, thru his remaining glory years. His buddy Alan is a very good example of this. No matter how successful one is or should be, all it takes is one severe vice ( gambling, drugs, alcohol etc) for it to evaporate completely. No matter how much income and or retirement savings one has.

Not defending Rob, but if you don’t want people to know you own property, you create a trust and purchase it through that. ANYONE can do that, you don’t have to be rich, and any half competent real estate agent knows about it.

There are only a few options here.

Rob really didn't fritter away his earnings and has invested all his $$ in properties through his kids but why is he telling Alan he can mentally talk to the machines? Either he believed it or it was the setup for a scam. Perhaps the scam was selling the book but man if you have to do that for money, you can't be doing that well. He could be a perfectly competent person but still have some brain defect where the machine 'talks to him' and tells him 'play me play me'.

Not defending Rob, but if you don’t want people to know you own property, you create a trust and purchase it through that. ANYONE can do that, you don’t have to be rich, and any half competent real estate agent knows about it.

The same people that do that don't lease apartments or live in RV parks.

Also, you would be hard pressed to find anyone that owns a Newell using a Mini Winnie camper. That's akin to saying MDog is hitting the town sporting a Timex on his wrist. What's the likelihood of that?

For whatever reason, I never talked to him about it, my stepfather never put property in his name. He even bought a tavern in Oregon and put it in his daughter's name.

I think its been about 5 to 6 months without an operational shower in our house.
We endured.
Probably two more days to complete the drywall and painting.
Tonight might be the night to test out one of the showers but probably best to wait till Sunday or Monday to let everything cure and dry.
Whatever.
It was a total failure on my part.
Probably cost me about 3 grand extra thinking I could Do It Myself.
Could of been worse.
I could of let professionals do it that didn't realize I had KITEC and I'd really be screwed in the following months.
I went with ONYX Solid Surface Showers in both bathrooms.
I got raped on the price for everything!
After waiting 4 months it turns out you just don't care anymore.
You just want operational bathrooms.
Fake Wood Tile for the flooring.
Kohler Elongated Toilets.
Perhaps a few extra pictures later next week.
Congratulations to MaxPen on his job well done.
He certainly is the better man.

Him and his son knocked it out and removed all the cuttings in six hours.

Good payday, but they earned it: climbing a ladder 15 feet in the air and lopping branches over and over with a chain saw held only in one hand ain't easy.

That looks nice and clean. The solid surface should be easy maintenance.

I am going to do another bathroom soon. Kind of along the lines of the other one. I am missing having an ongoing project.

I have a lot of plants and trees here, most were installed by a professional landscape designer years before i bought it, and without proper attention it will go to riot and the property will look like shit.

Candidly it felt weird to pay that much money to him and his son for six or so hours work but my wife, who formerly worked in a nursery, agreed that they did a great job and that the price was fair.

But $1600.00?

Ah well, we earns our money and makes our choices how to spend it.

Tomorrow I'm off to Spirit Mtn. and Chinook Winds Casino on the Oregon coast: as they say: "Hope springs eternal."
