Thread: Unusual Poker Results

So to get my brain exercised a bit in prep for football, I played some poker online yesterday. I started with a bounty tournament at 4:30 PM, and finished fifth out of about 365. Then I played a small rebuy/add-on (I never rebuy) sponsored by one of the offshore sports books with about 40 players. I won. By that time, I had drunk so much coffee, I couldn't sleep, so I entered a late night bounty tournament starting at 1 AM eastern. I finished second out of about a hundred players. Three tournaments and a fifth, first, and second. I don't think I've ever done that in back-to-back-to-back tournaments. Three consecutive final tables is tough to do, no matter the opposition.

I won significant underdog hands in the first and third tournaments. I would have cashed in them regardless, but would not have made the final tables. The second tournament, I didn't win any significant underdog hands and actually finished first. But there were only about 40 players.

Well, that was enough poker for the week. And enough coffee. And not enough sleep.

Funny how you didn't mention what you won.

HMMM. COULD IT BE ENDLESS FIELDS OF RETARDS you bested!?!

Anyway, regardless - hell of a run. gj

That's why I said, "no matter the opposition" above. I would be one of the "retards," by the way. I have very basic poker knowledge. I've mentioned this several times here, but I never play online tournaments that cost more than $30, and usually I'm playing $10 rebuys or whatever. I just don't trust the process. I know some young girls who used to team up and skype while abusing folks in online cash tables. They didn't need the money; they just enjoyed running over people.

I was one of the original folks who played at Ultimate Bet back in the day, so lesson learned.

To your question, not counting the bounties, I won around $400. I'll have to tally up the bounties sometime to see what the final count was.

Now account, make up your mind, is a person supposed to be playing against people who are worse than they are (AKA AP'ing), or are we supposed to be playing against people better than us? You're not being very consistent with your attitude here.

I'm not really trying to be a hater, more being funny here but this whole story of girls colluding to run over people sounds less likely the Singer having a Newell.

$400 is more than I presumed. $400 can buy some nice stuff at Harbor Freight.

I played a $600 tourney and lasted 4 hands because I bought in super late.. wasn't meant to be and thats my MTT for the year. Got 1/6th of the pot back my first hand. Would have gotten 1/8th but I had a blocker because I'm smart like that.

And I ran across a hot bingo card that netted me $450.

Redietz gets this empowerment to post his nonsense from watching some of you get chewed up and spit out by kew and his concocted internet gambling forum fantasies.

    You people are so gullible.

    Wise up.

It's a story about unexpected good luck.

    Nice when it happens.

Well, exactly. It's not like I'm a poker player. I get a real kick out of people trying to pull gambling rank on me.

    Here's a couple of asides.

    1) Go to Northbet.ag and look up their loyalty dollars formula. Mickey and tableplay did the translation for me a couple of years ago.
    2) Understand that I have $850 in loyalty dollars there, and that's because I recently cashed $400 in loyalty dollars. But the $850 is still there.
    3) Do the math, boys.

That's one site, by the way.

This is what I get a kick out of. I remember a few years back, I dangled a comment out there for "Singer." I said I had won a contest and was going to be gambling $35 or thereabouts on the Super Bowl as the prize. "Singer" was all over it -- LOL. I was a piker, a bit player, a slum dweller. Then I mentioned that I forgot to type the K.

Pretty sure I wasn't trying to pull gambling rank to near the extent you are. I just don't like MTTs and playing fields with nothing but scrubs should be noted regardless of how pure you run.

You may only person in world who claims to bet that much and plays $10 tournaments. Thats cool in its own way. Probably better that way in the longrun.

Nothing puts you on the road to ruin faster than being expert at one aspect of gambling and then drawing the conclusion that you can do it all because it's "all just numbers."

You don't see orthopedists delivering babies. There's a reason for that. For some reason many really excellent gambling specialists decide, after winning at A, that they can win at B and C and D. Best example off the top of my head is Stu Ungar. Maybe the best gambling mind ever -- superb poker player and a better gin player. But he tried to apply that mind to sports gambling and continually got clobbered. Tony Salinas -- great run at college football and the NFL when teamed with Mike Lee. But then he tried to be commercial and do it all, with horse racing to boot.

To quote Harry Callahan in Magnum Force, "A man's got to know his limitations."

Which was a fine way of saying "Dunning Kruger Effect" 30 years before Dunning Kruger was an effect.

Your over the top pontifications make it kinda obvious why all these grizzled assholes scoff at you.

I'm just saying, I know and have known people who bet far more than 35k on stuff. There is no way they would ever play a $10 tournament. Some are action junkies and others would find it a complete waste of time. The fact that you can seriously play $10 tournaments is a good thing even in the rarity of it. Thats some self-discipline right there. You may not be the most exciting gambler, but consistency in application is important. And honestly bro, you don't need to be an expert at much in gambling to come to that conclusion.

Lol name dropping Stu Ungar .. as if that has any relevance to any of this.

I think I've brought up my limited sports betting. Given the fact that I beat it without even knowing shit about the teams or sports makes me even further discount your hocus pocus talk. I invested 0 time learning all that team stuff. Add that into your handicapping and such and I bet your hourly isn't so great.

I'm also not an expert in MTTs. Hate the things.

Tell us about this team of girls who use skype to crush online just because they're psychos and not for the money... what made mr redietz a person to confide about their sociopathic behavior ?

I'm sure you anonymous jacks of all trades win at everything. The world is blessed to have you. Anonymous polymaths, but polymaths just the same.

I don't bet very much. Never said I did. I worked with Billy Walters for a year. Mr. Walters easily bet more in a week than I bet in a year. Easily. I'm not sure he ever bet more on one game than I bet in a year, but it's possible.

Good luck with that genius across the board expertise. If you take a vacation, you might consider repainting the Sistine Chapel. It's getting raggedy.

And, for serious sports bettors, here's a hint: There is no such thing as "action." Once you make a wager, the wager is finished. The event itself is a wholly separate thing.

You're right, serious sports bettors never sweat what they have wagers on.
