What a joke. I know we have people on both sides but the CDC can’t make their mind up. Definitely keeps those on the fence of getting a shot (which I know is a low number) from seeing any incentive.

Meanwhile the vaccine seems to have done it job in keeping those who have gotten it from getting seriously infected. So why punish them? I think most of us agree it has nothing to do with safety and more about control.

Meanwhile visitation, travel and tourism will drop and the government will be pitching more handouts shortly. While people wear worthless cloth masks that do nothing.

    Oh yea, fuck Sissylak!

    Good for the CDC.

Since millions of anti-vaxers are foregoing the free vaccination this mess can be laid squarely and solely at their feet.

Mask up, people: I'm tired of this shit.

So you are saying masks work? I think this is where we disagree. The garbage most wear as a mask “may” make a little difference, but if you can still smell a fart through it, I question if it stops whatever this is. And what are you “tired” of? And who are these vaccinated people testing positive? Why are they even getting tested if not sick? Shouldn’t the positive rate be around 80-90%? Someone is making HUGE money off all these “free” tests.

Shouldn’t you be happy unvaccinated people are the only ones getting this and ending up in the hospital? You believe the homeless created their own situations, why is this different? Damn, I sound like someone else asking you all these questions.

Why punish those who took the vaccine? And yes, I see requiring a mask a punishment. Thankfully we won’t deal with this in Florida. I see this as great for Florida tourism like it was this Spring when hotel rates and occupancy beat 2019 numbers.

But I do feel bad for service workers in Vegas who will be hurt by any decrease in tourism. And the non tipping thugs from SoCal that filled the city in mid to late 2020 don’t pay the bills.

But it was and never is about science when I can sit at a restaurant or bar without a mask and eat & drink for hours.

Second paragraph from the bottom, apparently their employers don’t help them pay the bills either then am I right?

Not sure exactly what you asking, but I was talking along the lines of tipped workers making less with smaller crowds. But obviously there were a lot of employees never brought back after the shutdowns. Look at the situation with housekeeping, casinos and hotels used it to reduce expenses and jobs. Now you could argue they couldn’t fill all the positions in the unlikely event they still wanted to offer daily housekeeping.

Also look at the reduction in table games across Vegas. They are being replaced with more slots and electronic table games. It’s all about reducing staff and in some ways they are related to less customers. Or being used as excuses, you can debate that, but anything (like mask mandates) that hurts visitation will end up hurting workers before corporate profits.

Didn't you leave the forums in shame?

Masks are like comparing a sieve and a hula hoop and a bucket. All kind of look the same from above and all have different levels of leaks. You're a God damned genius Gump.

    Boz:

Masks are helpful; as I understand it, if a mask wearer has the virus then wearing a mask will minimize his ability to transmit it to others.

I'm tired of the covid restrictions, i.e. mask, social distance, closures.

The vaccination will not always protect you: mine has a 95 percent effectiveness rate, but if I contract covid I will not likely get too ill, require hospitalization, or die, unlike those who are unvaccinated .

I get no schadenfreude from the plight of unvaccinated people contracting covid; I question their intelligence, however.

Yes, most homeless need not be homeless, most create this situation: hello, lousy life choices, drugs, etc.; yes, most unvaccinated people who contract the virus created their own situation as they could have avoided it by getting vaccinated.

I don't consider wearing a mask as punishment.

    Florida: hello, massive surge.

As for eating at a restaurant, so long as nobody was near you, and the rules required adequate separation, I see no likelihood of infection.

Doesn’t deserve a reply since you are a sock but not sure where you read that. I don’t post as much because I’m sick of fighting with some of the same clowns over and over. It never changes. And I did piss some people off with my letters to casinos about MDawg. So I don’t post as much but do keep up with some of the drama. Same people, same stuff.

Sorry, no shame here. Still living my life the way I want to. So who exactly did you also post under? And I’m not going to ask why you seem like a retarded beaner. See I still can play if I want.

Man up and get the damned shot(s).
Fair and we agree on some of it. As someone who never let the stuff affect my life, I really don’t give fuck about others choices. Get the shot, don’t get the shot, I don’t care. The deaths were and still will be mostly elderly and others who were unhealthy. Do they deserve to die? Probably not but shit happens. And now very few are dying (from Vid) if they got the shot. So now it’s personal choice. Which I’m good with.

But what I’m not good with is punishing everyone with mask mandates and politics deciding who gets punished. Which I consider punishment and you don’t. And we both know liberal states will require them and conservative states won’t. And it will continue to divide the country, which makes plenty happy.

Good conversation, have a good night V!

I am absolutely fine with wearing masks at the blackjack table and it has nothing to do with health or politics. I received zero backoffs during the time I played in 2020, and early 2021 when I was wearing a mask, despite playing at even higher limits than usual.

So, when masks became optional, I was hoping to continue to wear one when I played, but it only made sense as long as most other players were wearing one (don't want to stand out) and unfortunately within a week, almost no one was, so I stopped.

Fuck masks. I'm not wearing that shit again. Vegas can go fuck itself.

    90%?

More like 64.8%, which is less than the required number to be safe.

Yes, masks work to some degree. Masks will slow the velocity of the aerosols as you exhale them so they should fall to the ground sooner. In addition, they likely absorb some of the larger droplets that would have a lot of viruses. So while the shitty cloth masks aren't as good as some *95 mask, they have to work to some degree. Thats just basic common sense.

Part of the problem here is how much masks vary. They really can't be "tested" in the same capacity.

I agree wearing masks is a nuisance.

And who are these vaccinated people testing positive? Why are they even getting tested if not sick? Shouldn’t the positive rate be around 80-90%? Someone is making HUGE money off all these “free” tests.

Well except it spreads. You don't want your neighbor's house burning down even if the neighbor set it themselves.

Life has made people so soft. Sickening. Yes, it isn't a positive thing to wear a mask. Does that mean it is punishment? lol. This shit was bound to happen sooner or later. Life sucks but we've had it soooo fucking easy. I sometimes wear a mask when I am in casinos and sometimes don't. They're annoying. If I do wear one, it is a decent KN95 or whatever they are. I suspect that it would filter some weird situation where some unvaccinated hillbilly talks in my face and prevent me me from inhaling a large viral load which I suspect is what happens in a lot of breakthrough cases.

The delta variant is pretty much a new virus. It is not like the previous one. It really really sucks. The less people are vaccinated the more it'll be passed around and the more mutations it will acquire. Who knows where this whole thing winds up.

Not only is this new virus more transmissible it may also replicate at a higher rate in one's body. That has been suggested by some studies. We'll see.

But I do feel bad for service workers in Vegas who will be hurt by any decrease in tourism. And the non tipping thugs from SoCal that filled the city in mid to late 2020 don’t pay the bills.

I hear you 100% here. The best thing here would have been masks on/off at a quicker rate but you will forever be pissing off someone. Politicians are slow etc. I figured masks would come back until we get a really high rate of vaccination. This whole government out to get you shit I hear drives me nuts. Such dumb !@#$!@# shit. Like as if the government is some big thinking entity and lets disregard our brightest scientists etc.
God bless this forum. You people are precious.

All you can do is do your own speculative and ballpark math. If you're reasonably healthy, and unvaccinated, the Delta variant probably has a 3% to 4% chance of killing you if you get it. How bad you get it depends on how bad a viral load you get and how your immune system holds up. If you check the vaccine data base, which is almost undoubtedly underreported, you're looking at 10,000 temporally related (can't say causal) deaths and close to two million with reported side effects. Side effects probably not being reported unless severe or borderline severe.

Again, U.S. data almost worthless because the vaccine effect data base is more or less voluntary by doctors and patients. Self-reporting.

If you're healthy and vaccinated, chances of the vaccine killing you are way less than 1%. Of course, there are multiple side effects considered "rare" -- there's a subjective word again -- that actually affect 2% to 5% of the population. So if you're looking at clotting issues, or auto-immune vulnerabilities, or an existing heart issue, now you have a bunch of 2% to 5% "rare" side effects that can do you some serious damage.

I happen to have experienced a so-called "rare" side effect from an antibiotic I took about 10 years ago. I took a fluoroquinalone type drug, and after two doses I was off in the wild blue yonder. I was told I had "something consistent with a heart attack." Well, it turned out that the so-called rare side effects affect a good chunk, like 3% or more, of the population. To me, that is not terribly rare. The further I got from the taking of the drug, the less my heart looked like a heart attack. Had to wear a cardio vest for a week and take a stress test and all that. If I failed, I was in for surgery. The drug could have killed me, had I taken another few doses. So when these myocardia issues crop up for vaccines, I pay attention. And I take the word "rare" with a grain of salt.

Getting Covid while being vaccinated does something, but probably not much, to prevent long Covid. So that's a separate issue. If you contract Covid despite your vaccination, which you won't know most of the time because testing for asymptomatic is so low, you can still get long Covid. Severity of your Covid doesn't have much correlation with the severity of long Covid.

And then you run into the issue that vaccinating during a pandemic, with all vaccines targeting the same elements of the virus, will supercharge evasive evolution of the virus unless there is a corresponding shutdown so the virus cannot spread.

What the UK and the US are doing right now amounts to a herd immunity strategy, whether public health officials acknowledge it or not. It's similar to what the Trump administration was doing, but with a progressive veneer.

Always wear a mask when you steal from the Casino.
Use different colored masks, shirts, coats and hats.
Switch glasses and sunglasses sometimes too.
If you're serious, you will shave your head on occasion.

  17. #17
Reuters article from yesterday says 22% of UK hospitalized by Delta variant are fully vaccinated. Think last I read in US was 3%, up from 1% a few weeks earlier.

I’m wondering how that large of a discrepancy (22 vs 3%) is even possible, 2 of the 4 approved vaccines there are the ones we are using in the US.

Edit: I get it, it’s because of a drastically higher percentage of citizens that have been vaccinated than US, same sort of deal that elsewhere.

redietz, you are completely ignoring what is taking place at our southern borders and all the harm that is causing by the spread of the virus. This so called progressive veneer that is taking place is a disgrace to the entire country. Give me Trump anyday.

Say what?? I’ve not seen any reports that Delta has a death rate that many multiples of the other strands. Cite please?

It's amusing watching liberals make fools of themselves as they anxiously absorb all the bs coming out of mouths like hypocrite Fauci's. You people are afraid of your own shadows. We just came back to Az. from 2 months up in the Tahoe area. Most of our time was spent at Peppermill, Atlantis rooms and Tahoe/Carson Valley hotels, restaurants, theaters etc. because of the oppressive amounts of smoke from "burn baby burn" California wildfires. We wore no masks and have zero health issues. In a few days we're headed to S. Dakota for the rest of the hot season here. And we KNOW our Governor will never copy the libtard states.

The reason you see such foolish posts by redietz, V and others is simply because these wimps are afraid of their own shadows, and they've been indoctrinated into that status because they worship at the altar of Gavin Newsome.

Take a look at California, New York, Oregon etc. Excuse me while I puke.
