Thread: Rio reservations shut down from July 31 - August 11 for mysterious reasons

    Here's something bizarre.

Go here and look at the availability for the Rio: https://www.caesars.com/book/

You'll see it's "sold out" all the way through August 11, which obviously makes no sense. I googled for conventions taking place there, and only found one -- a Star Trek convention starting on (you guessed it) August 11th.

Three other "lower end" Vegas properties also are "sold out" -- Flamingo, Harrah's, and LINQ. However, these become available starting August 5, whereas Rio is still unavailable for another week after that.

One of my friends (Brandon "Drexel" Gerson, who does Poker Fraud Alert Radio with me) attempted to call up and get answers, and the rep refused to tell him what was going on. Instead, he was directed to book at another property, with the rep acting very cagey about the whole thing.

What is going on here? Anyone know? I can't imagine that the demand for Rio is so high for these two weeks.

I am showing no rooms until the 5th at Rio and Flamingo. Vital Vegas posted something the other day about Caesars closing some rooms during the week due to the current linen shortage so they have enough for the weekend. May be what is going on here.

If this guy was really randomly upgraded to this suite due to a normal reservation being unavailable, then that's a really cool, neat story. Kudos!

    However ...

If this is a "work," meaning they were working in conjunction with the Rio to promote this suite and the Rio's renovations, all under the guise of a lucky random upgrade, then that's extremely lame. They'd essentially be treating their audience as low-IQ nitwits.

Since this couple apparently writes about credit card points, travel, etc., I sense a "work."

    Excerpt from Wikipedia:

    work:
(noun): Anything planned to happen, or a "rationalized lie".
(verb): To deceive or manipulate an audience in order to elicit a desired response.

Absolutely a work. JT and his wife work for “The Points Guy”. They are given upgrades all the time to write glowing reviews of hotels and such.

The dead giveaway is him mentioning he was Diamond. We all know Diamond doesn’t get many upgrades, let alone the Presidential Suite. He isn’t even a gambler, he got the Diamond from the Founders Card they get paid to pitch.

Every story they write is filled with links to credit cards and more, naturally they get a kickback on every click. Totally legal, but the site is a exactly as you mentioned, a total work.
