I think the people who don't begrudge low/nontippers are the people who end up making the most when it comes to tips.
Well, looks like we're kind of opposite on this one. I am willing to do the restaurant tipping thing (though I don't like it), but I refuse to tip huge in casinos for jackpots.

I feel the restaurant tipping is well established, and it's also pretty easy to ascertain the expectation on the customer.

Casino tipping is all over the place, especially on jackpots. Even Vital Vegas was avoiding explaining what he felt was a reasonable tip, and people were getting irritated with him.

Furthermore, I'm willing to grant that restaurant servers are actually SERVING you (though you don't have the ability to serve yourself at most restaurants), whereas slot attendants doing handpays are simply doing a few minutes of paperwork and carrying either cash or a check to you. This isn't a service, nor do you have the option to do it yourself. It's basically just paperwork processing for the government.

I understand where the tipping on jackpots thing started. As you said, it's perceived to be "sharing the good fortune". However, these people don't tip me when I lose (even if I lose every penny to my name), and many of these so-called "jackpots" (such as $1200) won't even get you even for the day. I can still ignore that part and tip something like $20 without getting too annoyed, but I have a real problem handing $1000 to someone processing my paperwork, just because I got lucky and hit something for 6 figures.

The last part is the biggest problem. Handing an undeserved tip like $20 to a casino worker is one thing. $1000? GTFO
I do tip at restaurants and I'm not a cheap bastard, most of the time. I only have a real problem tipping 15%-20% on more expensive meals. My slot tipping practices are not somthing I suggest the average person does. I think Advantage Players should tip for the benefit of helping preserve AP. We dont want everyone thinking AP's are assholes anymore than they already are.
I think that if you are that easily identifiable as as an AP to a slot monkey you are doing something wrong. If you are doing something that needs a look the other way by the monkey then of course you need to pay up for the discretion. But otherwise the monkey can get its banana from someone else.

    1 Timothy 6:10

This is the one scripture that many people mess up.
    They forget the LOVE part.
They just say that money is the root of all evil but it isn't the money, It is your love of money that is the root.
Sounds to me like most or all of you really love your money.

And let us not forget the rest of the scripture that nobody seems to focus on...

For the love of money is the root of all evil:
which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

    Enjoy your sorrow and PAIN!

Well, it's a different time now from when you started, there was no real way of hiding the fact that you were an AP if you wanted to play somthing juicy. And things still come up that would be in that same category. I have no doubt you yourself have been on plays and you have been identified as an AP at the time.

But I wouldn't know they're ingrates until after the fact; I have little or no sense of precognition.

I'm definitely less generous, aka foolish these days; for example this year I've had three hand pays and I only tipped twenty bucks for one of them (the highest), and then only because I was in a good mood.

Probably no future tips will be doled out.

Agree 100% on your new stance on hand pay tips. Now if you could do something about that Piece of Shit half dyke Governor of yours in Oregon on her outdoor mask stance. And the Antifa scum in Portland if you have more spare time to make the world a better place.

    I would if I could but I can't so I won't.

But yeah, she's a drone and antifa is a scourge comprised of disaffected losers, homeless clods, and lesbians who enjoy coloring their hair.

It’s interesting in this thread there are some different scenarios

What should you tip if you’re just a rec player? Personal choice from 0 to whatever they want. They may get dirty looks, but thats all, the casino loves them because they’re very profitable.

What should you tip if you’re an AP? Exact same as above 0 to whatever, but some APs like to tip to avoid heat.

Is it possible that you could never tip in a place as an AP and it never causes u any heat, the money just goes straight to your profit? Of course it’s possible, but if you are a regular at a juicy spot you may not want to take that chance since it’s also possible that it would create resentment and cause problems for you.

What should you tip on a huge jackpot? Again, personal choice, but i can’t see ever tipping more than 3 figures. The one exception for me is if I happened to hit a huge one, say high 6 figures or 7 figures in a juicy local spot where I’m a regular and friendly with the staff, maybe….maybe……..$1k-$2k, maybe but it would have to happen to know what I would actually do.

I’m guessing that the sense of entitlement of casino employees probably comes from the occasional lucky Degen, that hits a big one and then over tips. Many of us have seen the lucky guy that hits $100k, thinks it is all the money in the world, gives some crazy tip, then a month or 2 later he is broke again, but now the casino employees are expecting that every one should be tipping in the same way……….

There are cover plays that people can do to give the appearance of being a degenerate, for longevity purposes and not having to feel extorted when you hit big/ frequently at regular stores. The attitude of many dealers/attendants from my experience over the last 20+ years, when it comes to tips is appaling and wreaks of entitlement. I'm lucky if I dish out more then a few hundy a year at this stage of my life. Im sick of their entitled attitudes !

While I will not tip any more for a hand pay on slots, I will continue to tip at craps, as that seems to "bear fruit."
