Thread: Best Promotions your Local Casinos have done? :)

The best Promotion one of my Local Casinos has ever done is the "$100 on us," Promotion. If you played $100 coin in, you got $100 back in free play.

Not mine but a few weeks ago a guest on the GWAE podcast talked about how a Vegas casino brought in Penthouse Playmates to spend the weekends with their super high rollers.

That promo would be difficult to top.

That is not true, that's the best promotion you could think of or knew about. On a scale from 1 to 20 that's like a 1.5 compared to other promotions that have come up.

I would have a hard time thinking of the best promotion I have ever played since there are way too many things to consider when rating somthing as the best.

A promotion might not be as juicy percentage-wise or hourly, but it might be fairly good and have longevity. There might be a super juicy promotion percentage-wise worth that's worth Tens of thousands per hour on paper, but then you only get one shot at it.

I have played some promotions that were very lucrative, came with lots of good comps(good food with lots of options) and perks, lasted quite some time, had very little variance, no heat, and were enjoyable to play. I would have to say it had to be one of those kinds of play I would call the best promotions. Its still hard to choose one.

A 1.5 out of 20? I think you're rating this REALLY excellent Promotion REALLY low. $100 coin in could be more like $40 in ACTUAL money lost. Let's say you get the $100 in free play. You win about $88 in cash(I won a $100 in a Promotion a couple of days ago and won about $88 by playing a 5 cent machine where almost every spin was a Winner. You lost $40 of your own money and won $88 from the $100 in free play. You made a decent profit there!

That's unfair because you're just looking at $$$ EV. In terms of promotions that are +EV and are immediately identifiable as a complete layup even for casual gamblers, it's tough to beat, "Play $100, Get $100."

Hell, I know of a casino that was running, "Play x on Us," and people were like, "Yeah, but I only get the free play if I lose." I'm not even talking about interesting tactics, just people that didn't even understanding the concept of taking a shot with a large amount knowing you can grind back (most of it) via Free Play if the shot taking didn't work out.

For casual gamblers, I think, "Play $100, Get $100," is an outstanding absolute layup for almost guaranteed profits for anyone who can find even a half competent way to play it.

Um...start with I defended you saying this was a great promotion.

But, why would you assume a loss of $40 on $100 coin-in, but then assume a return of $88 from the $100 in Free Play? The two things are the same. Whatever you are assuming from one should be your assumption on the other.

That was actually Axel who I was responding to who said,1.5 out of a 20 when it's much, much better than that. About the $88 out of $100. I wasn't assuming. That actually happened to me when I won $100 in free play in a Promotion. I played on a nickel machine and almost every spin was a winner netting me roughly $88.

That's fine, but you're not going to win precisely $88 every time. You have to make an assumption on how much you are expected to lose running the $100 coin-in and the inverse of that will be your assumption on how much you expect to make on the $100 Free Play. (Assumes same machine for both)

If you assumed a house edge of 20%, for example, then you would believe that you are expected to lose $20 on $100 coin-in, but then you would expect that your $100 Free Play has an expected return of $80 cash, thereby resulting in $100 cash effectively becoming $160 cash, for $60 in expected profits.

Here is a link to an old article about Bob Stupak's classic "Vegas World VIP" promo; these guys had a lot of fun with it.

Good read about "back in the day."

Hahaha!!! Thanks! Everything about that was amazing, except I didn't like the pranks. Why would you even want to risk getting 86'ed for something unrelated to money when you're making money?

I saw how one of our former members took advantage of a clever promo Caesars offered: Caesars let players get hitched at their favorite craps table.

When it was over the attendees / guests threw dice, not rice: up to 18 throws in a row were allowed.

    Ouch.

Not really a "Best," perse, but it sure was Welcome. I went to my Local Casino to collect my free play, and to my pleasant surprise, a Staff Member announcced, "Surprise Promotion! 50 Random Lucky Players, get $20 in free play. All you have to do is have your Player's Club Card in the machine and actively be playing, and you can be a Lucky Winner!" I was one of the Lucky Winners and got the Surprise $20!

No, it's not, both you and Mission are wrong. And now you are using words like "REALLY excellent" making you REALLY wrong.

Now go back and think if you have ever been right when having a disagreement or different opinion than me(And yes, opinions can be wrong, most of your opinions are, but that's ok since you are special). It's not even a solid 1.5 when comparing it to BEST promotions. Remember we are not comparing it to NO promotions, Bad promotions, or even good promotions, we are talking about BEST promotions. This can not even come close to the BEST promotions.

    See above.

This wouldn't even register in terms of the best promotions ever if you are an AP, but when it comes to those, some casual gamblers manage to not even play them in such a way that gives them ANY advantage.

You run $100 through and they give you $100 in Free Play. It's that simple. As long as you stick to the, "Run $100 through," part...and don't run more than that, then you can't fail to be at an advantage.

Think about it this way, most people couldn't figure out a way to maximize a promotion as well as I could...let alone as well as you could. I figure Tasha (no offense meant) is more representative of your average land casino gambler when it comes to this sort of thing.
