Should the $1200 Threshold be increased?

The $1200 Threshold for Handpays is actually a holdover from about 1977 when $1200 was more like $5,000 in today's money. It is 2021 and 1977 was 44 years ago. Think about the fact that someone who was a newborn in 1977 is probably a Grandparent now. I feel that the Threshold should be raised to reflect today's money. And there was actually talks of cutting the threshold in HALF to $600, WTF? That Bill wasn't passed, thank God.

Also $1200 isn't that great when you're in the High Limit Room playing $100 machines. It is only 12 times your bet if you are only playing one line. Getting a W2G for only 12 times your bet is beyond ridiculous. On top of that, you are expected to give a tip for getting a handpay. So you are out about an extra $50. And you have to pay taxes and fees on that, I think you pay 33 Percent, in taxes and fees, so you get $804 in take home Winnings, so with the tip and the taxes and fees , your take home Winnings is actually $754.

I remember a Gambler saying they won about $1300 on a Slot and with the taxes and fees, and $60 tip, they only got like $811 in take home Winnings and would have preferred to have won $1100 with no taxes, fees, and tip than $1300 with taxes, fee, and tip with $811 in take home Winnings. I feel the Threshold should be raised to $5,000 to reflect today's money. On a side note, a Gambler said The Casino wanted to take their picture for winning $1200 and the Gambler laughed them off! LMAO!

The original post was more of you talking about stuff you never read. You have never been in a high limit room, never hit a hand pay and probably never paid a dollar in federal income tax. I’m too lazy to do the research, but it might be. She has a clear record of doing exactly that.

But I do agree with you the number should be raised, but also know it won’t be.

Look at the banking proposals Biden is pushing where banks will have to report EVERY personal and business transaction of $600 or more. We are headed toward more regulations on cash, not less.
