Thread: Worst casinos in Vegas?

  1. #1
So I have seen the Dotty's around but have yet to step foot inside one. Some day.. some day.. I went to Boulder Highway and drove down it. Kinda interesting how there is like an alternative strip few tourists even know about.

So on the internet I somehow came across Siegal Slots and Suites which I'd heard about. On the very northeastern edge of town. TBH when I'm home I like to read the 1 star reviews of these places and wonder what it'd be like. What other places am I missing? I never got to visit the Western unfortunately. I did manage to make it to Terrible's where I am fairly certain I was exposed to the consumption many years ago. 1 woman nodding off, nasty cough, and peeing herself. When booted she realized she'd peed herself and didn't want to leave because she was embarassed so she sat back down. Yes, that was the last time I stepped foot in there for that cheap breakfast buffet. Moved right back home in the parent's basement and been happy ever since.

Still I wonder.. what else am I missing?
It is official. Redietz will never be on Dan Druff's podcast. "too much integrity"

You missed the heyday, account. The old Gold Spike, way before the recent renovations, gave you a dial phone when you checked in at the desk. Evidently they had a hard time keeping phones in the rooms with their clientele. I was awakened several times with 2 AM knocks on the door, "Oh, sorry sir. We must have the wrong room. But would you like some company this evening?"

I'm not sure anything beat the old Western. The Quasimodo girls (not real cute; kind of walking around at a semi-upright angle) wandering around out front were just the tip of the iceberg. I got a room once there, tucked behind a pillar and the big generator. You couldn't hear squat. I was awakened the next morning with maids exclaiming outside, "Oh my God! Look at all the blood!" I went outside and, yep, lots of blood. No body, but plenty of blood. I had slept right through it. I think that was my second and final stay at the Western. Couldn't beat $12 rooms. Just had to avoid those rooms behind the generator.

I have stayed at a few places where there were bodies, but those weren't actual casinos, so I'll get into that another time.

Yea, the worst places I've stayed at have been weekly/monthly places full of riff-raff. Fights were common but it was still an apartment that was like a motel except doors were interior in courtyard. Outside of that it has been the occasional night downtown but I've never been at a place with random women knocking on the doors lol. Cheapest rooms seem to get is about $70 a night in Vegas now. I'll be averaging like $70 a night with my discounted rooms but that is a decent strip property.

I am considering buying a car to have in LV. I like that town, still sorta see it as my second home. Cars cost $80 a day for normal rental. Just need somewhere to park it. Probably not worth it.. but I hate renting a car just to return it for 1 day. I spend less time driving it than the whole rental process takes.

There’s garages downtown you can rent a space for like $50-$80 a month (FSE garage, Plaza, Main Street surface) all have it. Can’t say I know how secure it’d be to leave there for weeks, plenty of downtown workers who don’t gamble for free parking and whose employers do not provide parking for employees use them (Stevens for sure doesn’t or at least didn’t provide any parking whatsoever for employees.)

Back in the 80's and 90's, I had rental industry codes and was able to get weekly rentals for roughly $100. LV also had Rent-a-Wreck at the time. Since I didn't really drive on weekends, I wound up settling into a routine of renting from better places like National or Alamo for three or four mid-week days M-Th or Tues-Fri. That was cheaper and more or less covered my needs.

The rental rates today are rugged, and the parking gouging would take that off the table for me unless I managed to get the proper club level to have free parking.

That is an interesting thought. It doesn't need to be too secure. I'd leave a suitcase of clothes and misc toiletries etc in the trunk but nothing of value or stuff I cared about.

These $50 direct flights are pretty awesome. If I didn't have to even check in baggage they'd be great. Just fly in with my laptop and such in a carryon. Then I have a car to drive around LA area if I want to hang in southern California. $80 a day for a car blows..

I once had the "pleasure" of staying at the El Morocco. Actually was kind of cool old school type of place. can't even remember much about it. I was forced to stay there after a misunderstanding at the Riviera caused my ejection.

If max were ever able to keep his hard-on for mickey under wraps, he'd be excoriating you folks for your low-class nostalgia to cover for his unremarkable living in LV. Of course, he'd also need to take his small dick out of KJ's smelly ass first.

I never stayed there -- that was on the same side as the Riviera -- was it right next door or a block up? I spent two or three seasons at the Convention Center Lodge, which was directly across the strip from the Stardust and in the same neighborhood as the El Morocco, I think.

How did you get tossed from the Riviera? The Riviera was old school -- definitely not corporate for a long time.

Morocco was pretty much next to the Riv.

I was young and killing time playing $5.00 BJ before hitting the craps tables. I had a gorgeous young dealer and we hit it off. When I would color up or leave she would come around the table and hug me. I met up with her after her shift. Sat down to play with her the next day and she was giving me signals when peaking at the undercard. Apparently someone noticed. I got kicked out and asked to check out as well. She got fired.

I was able to play craps there for the next few years so it was no big deal to me. Felt bad for the girl.

    Yeah, that would do it.

The Riviera had an unforgiving management, not much different from the management when the Riv was the Tangiers in "Casino."

In those days it was a great place for Craps. All the Chicago guys were there and you didn't have hands on the table and late bets and wrong amounts and all the crap you have now. You didn't need the dealers to control it--the old school players did.

You’re fortunate you two didn’t end up in cuffs. Perhaps it was just a different era in how they treated that I suppose.

If there's no quid pro quo I don't think benefiting from intentional flashing can be cheating. Although they could still have alleged that there was a partnership.

Maybe because such low stakes. I was young and didn't know how evil casinos were. I do remember that I was trying to shake her off to get her to stop doing it. Probably we were lucky since they had us on tape hugging and kissing for a few days at the table. Again, I didn't really know any better at the time.
