What a clusterfuck.

Adele had a planned Caesars residency starting this month, which excited fans, as she does not do many concerts. However, she has had a long history of cancelling previous concerts. In 2011, the cancellations were due to throat surgery, and in 2017, again some shows didn't take place because of supposed throat issues. None of these were rescheduled.

Adele's residency was to begin yesterday on Friday, January 21. On January 20 -- less than 24 hours before her show was to begin -- she cancelled her entire 24-show residency, citing being short staffed due to Omicron.

She claimed that half her team was out due to COVID, and deliveries didn't show up. "I cancelled it because my show ain't ready", she said in the above video statement.

The tickets to the show were extremely expensive, with some of them going for $5,000 or more. Caesars initially claimed that the show was in such high demand that it wouldn't be comped for anyone, but of course that was bullshit, as various people on social media posted their e-mailed offers for free Adele tickets.

Still, this show was considered a very big deal, and Caesars heavily promoted it.

However, some believe the tears cried are of the crocodile variety, and Adele simply is experiencing stage fright or contract remorse.

First, many are skeptical that her crew couldn't have been replaced, given the big money behind the production. Second, people are perplexed that the announcement came with less than a day's noitce. If the show wasn't ready on Thursday, shouldn't she have known on Tuesday that it wouldn't be ready?

Most damning is the fact that all 24 dates have been postponed. As you all know, Omicron symptoms tend to mostly resolve within 7 days. Her show was only to play weekends, meaning that the 24-day residency was actually lasting until April 16. How could she possibly cancel the entire thing, given that the last dates are three months out?

Worst yet, many came from across the pond (that is, England) to see Adele at Caesars, at great personal and financial expense. Even though they will get a refund for the show tickets, they are obviously out the airline tickets. Laughably, Caesars is only refunding the hotel nights for January 21 and 22, but not any others, regardless of whether someone was holding tickets to Adele.

It's even worse for people staying at non-Caesars properties, as some of those hotels are outright refusing refunds.

Brutal.

Some of Adele's fans are furious about this, and feel that at the very least, she should have given a few days' notice. Indeed, just 3 days notice would have been enough for most fans from overseas to cancel their flights and hotel reservations.

Here's a good Daily Mail article which shows some of the fan frustration tweets: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...gas-shows.html
