Thread: Daryl Brubaker AKA Puckerbutt has died

Daryl Brubaker was known as Puckerbutt on VCT, WoV and Twitter. I met him a few years back at Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton, Oklahoma. He just walked up to me and asked "Are you Mickey?"

There are two casinos at Hinton. The other one is Casino Oklahoma. Daryl observed me in Casino Oklahoma. One hustler knows another hustler like a skunk knows another skunk when they run into each other in the woods. He told me he knew who I was when he seen the Montana plates on my car. He knew me from the gambling forums.

We spent a few hours talking. He was a great guy. We stayed in contact after that and traded information on plays. And I would stop in and visit with him for a few hours when I passed through Oklahoma.

I learned where the meters capped on the Texas Tea and Cleopatra Pinballs games from him....and also that once the meters capped the progressive money would keep accumulating and would be deposited in the next meter at reset.

I gave him the math of the 15's when they first started hitting Oklahoma. He played them extensively. And I told him about the Hex 3's before they hit Oklahoma. He was ready for them when they got there.

His obituary mentions his ability in card games but nothing about poker. Daryl played poker in the Oklahoma casinos and avoided playing machines until one day in 2013 a lady friend of his called him and asked if he would come bail her out on a play. It was a $500 must hit at about $496. She had run out of money to spin it off. That's where he got his clue about machines.

Though he owned a home in the OKC area, Daryl used the must hit's to make a little money and generate room comp in the casinos around Oklahoma that had poker. When the exploitable games started making the big comeback in 2015 he started making more money off the machines than poker. So he switched to full time machines. He turned out to be an excellent machine pro.

For a reason I didn't know Daryl quit responding to my texts. His last post was Oct 1, 2021 on Twitter. About 7 weeks ago I ran into a friend of his that told me Daryl had contracted long haul covid about five months ago....and that he was still very weak. I took that to mean he was weak but recovering. But that wasn't the case.

Daryl was a great guy with a great sense of humor.

"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ
