This reminds me of Maradona's death - probably an annual day of mourning in Argentina, but here in the states I didn't even hear of his death until a year later. The dude carried Argentina on his back to win the '86 world cup for Christ Sake. A 3rd example would be the war in Yemen (about 377,000 dead so far - but Russia is not involved in that war so there is no press).
Perhaps they had the known DNA of a relative of one or more of the perps in a giant covid database along with the perps' unknown DNA taken and stored from the Comacho crime scene and then used probability analysis of the gene sequence to link the known DNA to the unknown DNA. That is, they may have ran the unknown DNA against a database of known DNA and then looked at the relatives found via hits on the database query. And then, through Q&A of the relatives, found the perp(s). All speculation on my part since I didn't read the article.
