Thread: Casino serves patron cleaning fluid instead of beer.

Barley's casino and brewery is a small slots only type casino and bar/brewery on Sunset Road owned by Stations casino, located about a mile east of Wayne Newtons old ranch. Last week a Jury awarded a man 8 million because the casino bar had served him cleaning fluid instead of draft beer. Good God!

Has to be some kind of sabatoge by disgruntled employee, doesn't it? I don't see how else.

But no matter how, the freaking bartender or bar maid can't tell the difference between a glass of beer and a glass of cleaning fluid? Come on.

If it was intentional by the bartender then that's attempted murder. Sounds like they ruled that out and just went with the stupidity theory. I wonder how much the guy ingested and if it hit him right away. Anyhow, the Fertitta clan are a bunch of assholes and deserve every suit against them.

My educated guess would be someone didn’t finish cleaning the beer lines completely and the bartender had no clue. In PA we were required to clean draft beer lines weekly to ensure yeast in the beer didn’t turn into mold in the lines. The system was to use a pump at the bar to pump cleaning solution from back at the keg location through the lines. It was then flushed with water before the beer keg was hooked back up and beer run back through to the tap.

I assume someone theoretically pull the pump off with the cleaner still in the line and not flush it. But the cleaner was diluted in water and was clear, no way to confuse it with beer. I was also of the understanding that this was not a poisonous solution and was used in small quantities. Sounds like multiple failings here but I need to look up more details on the story but doesn’t seem like $8 million in damages but we all know how crazy the legal system can be.

Ok so I read KJ’s link and that’s exactly what happened. Since we weren’t 24/7 our lines were cleaned early in the morning.

In this case, and every 24/7 bar, there should be some procedure in place to block off the taps during cleaning. As the cleaning person has to go back and forth from the taps to the keg room, the bartender should be aware the taps are closed.

Sounds like a failing of basic procedures and the guy was served beer in the middle of the process. Still it shouldn’t have looked anything like beer.

I've seen the beer distributors cleaning the beer lines in Montana bars many times.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

It varies by state. In PA we were responsible for hiring a certified individual or company and keeping logs for inspections. In Florida the beer distributors are responsible as in Montana.

That said, the beer distributors here use it to their advantage to get taps for their brands and shut out small local craft beers for getting lines.

A few years back there was a company pushing an ultra violet cleaning system that used light to clean the lines. But PA didn’t approve the system so it went no where there. Not sure if it ever caught on in other states.

Nobody tried to kill anybody. It was just an unfortunate series of events that made the liquid find it's way into the guy's glass. And somehow he drank a liquid that smelled worse than my grandmother's armpit.

Anything can and does happen in casinos at any time. This was one of those times. The smart ones take full advantage of them.

Maybe smelling grandma's armpits is a colored thing.

Don't the colored have some strange things like "jumping a broom" to get married? Maybe this smelling Granny's pits is something like that, that Rob's family brought from Africa to Italy and then the U.S.

So the Jews break wine glasses during the marriage ceremony and the blacks jump over a broom. So if a Jewish dude marries a black women, she can pick up the broom after she hops over it and sweep up the broken glass.

Along with armpit smelling there's dirt eating.

Since the dirt is lousy in sin city, relatives in the deep south can mail some to satisfy any jonesing for tasty terra firma.
